I've been listening to this song for years for it's rythmic, haunting sound...not really ever thinking too much of what it may actually mean. I still don't really understand the song or the video. Untimately it matters not to me though. It's a cool tune from a musical standpoint...and that's good enough for me.

Tureq clothing doesn't really suit Bryan does it , he looks ridiculous. This video is extraordinarily sexist isn't it. Strange harems to which women are dragged in chains....Ohh how very feminist. Well as a woman and a black woman at that I don't quite see how the politics of oppression is sexually alluring and I wouldn't like to really meet the people who do....The makers of this video included.

Sorry, much as I love Ferry as well as his work w/RM, I have to agree w/Fairyslippers. I scrolled down after watching a bit 'cos I love the song and didn't see the point in continuing. (And yes, it IS a super driving song, esp. in summer--even w/o the top down). Clicking back to the Avalon vid, which I DO love.

BTW, I think the problem isn't a lack of imagination; it's that there could be more left to the imagination.

Brian has had so many great songs and instrumental pieces over the years. This has to be one of his coolest, IMO. Most song of this pace and feel you just sit around waiting for it to break out or change up somehow. Yet this peice just glides along perfectly never needing to change up.

I truly love this song, and Bryan Ferry's voice. BUT this video is very disturbing and very satanic and dark--I fully believe like Sodom and Gomorrah to the full hilt.

I think you'll find that it is atleast technically amazing, even if still not to your liking. You find it horrible too , thank goodness. It is overdone and frankly quite alarming. I do wish Bryan would stop all this "I respect women" stuff and explain the images in this nasty little piece. As for ant arty overtones it's pur "Mills and Boon" fantasy stuff but I am not sure for women or men. Who cares if a guy's hair is great if his mind id full of this ?
