I had no VCR back in the day of OTA STV.
Transistions were few on WIHT. Not long after it signed on, it went STV 24/7.
WXON (20, now WMYD) did end its unencrypted program at 8PM nightly, and it treated it as a sign-off (both without the cliché anthem music film).
The switch was nothing to write home about. The audio went silent, and the picture went scrambled,.
In reality, it was straight, with white sync bars. But your TV set needed black sync bars, and scrambled the picture for them.
