idk if you are Haudenosaunee it is the tribal elders themselves who will tell you you are "non Indian". My sons had three Native great grandparents Oneida, Seneca and Tuscarora but are considered white because i am...Dont' know of anyone but elders making that decision.
americans are experts are confusing matters, because they don't want other cultures growing strong around them,so they make you think your native heritage is nothing, and they make non-native ppl think they have rights that reserve ndnz clearly have but the gov't makes media send out bullshit propaganda, because the gov't doesn't want the natives to know & understand their rights.
@iamearthbornami Animal nations are disappearing more because of deforestation, habitat loss. Suburbs are more likely the cause of endagering species than eating meat.
@eruanion non meat eaters are less likely to be into deforestation and yes suburbs full of meateaters are a big problem as they do not tune into nature and life in a way that they could to help bring balance~there is room for all with respect for all life~ trees animals and people and all~peace
Your daugter has done a really good job! I would have never expected the racial problems among the tribal community itself, this blood test is the worst invention of bureucracy.
what i dont understand is how the lady from northern exposure can say this is what white man did - when it is different from nation to nation , blood quantum. i never hear them say about us , just them, how many peoples bloodlines have been thrown away like this paper business? whites did not come in and tell native americans how to run thier sovereign nation. there fore anyone they have mixed with doesnt make thier cut . so - they dont exist to you?
Yes I feel you girl..this is so true. I'm Shawnee and Creek. Check out the video called the origins of blood quantum this one dude did. It makes alot of sense.
Good report There are a lot of problems from this policy. The test to stay proud n balance in how we live. The sadest that many "Native" people who "feel" and think that they are not "good enough".
Each of us must find the true way of living well. we must be honorable, sensible, compassionate of those we "know" who are of that tribe. Long ago they starved us, we feared that there may not be enough for everyone. The original pupose of numbering us was to "eliminate the Indian!" We go on!
Divide the people this quantum Blood Rule is in fact killing your community and the leaders who support this should be charged with Attempted Genocide, the community ARE THE PEOPLE.
The leaders are elected by the people for the people, your voices will stop this but you must be heard.
well recognize you're self stand 4 hew you are ~~~ if you half 2 divorce you're self from the u.s. gov. like some of the lakoda did last December then do so cause you are only what you live an you must fight 2 protect you're way of life ~~ i went threw alota pain 2 remain hew i am but it is worth it
hey there... i will trade my familys fry bread recipe, a elk, the back straps from my next deer, and 10 fresh salmon for your daughter, sky's hand in mariage... LOL shes beautiful... and need to re-fill my native blood...
Yea my dad was native but i cant get in contact with him so i can know what tribe im from ( my mother is white) i mean i dont HAVE to be enrolled (though it would be nice to be apart of what i am) but i would be happy just to KNOW
It is totally frustrating. Totally. My Dad (where I get the majority of my Choctaw blood) warned me before he passed away that the government will eventually find ways to take everything away; this is very sad. I understand my cousins for marrying within the tribe due to the future concerns. This is very sad indeed.
Will this ever change? I think it is sad that I can trace my ancestory all the way back to my Creek and Choctaw roots...and in one moment someone decides that I am not Native American anymore? When I grew up here in Oklahoma around my people and culture and I am very proud I must say....
My mothers family side is going through this too. Now Even though I can prove that my family were landlords and voted in Choctaw nation elections and were educated...because of the final dawes rolls my people were not recognized as Indian. Keeping in mind that they were on the rolls as FULL BLOOD CHOCTAW CITIZENS BEFORE AND ENJOYED THEIR RIGHTS AS SUCH.
I don't think everyone should be able to claim native blood. If you're only 1/64 cherokee, for example, you're white. Like I'm only 1/16 on my mom's side and 1/32 on my dad's, but I consider myself white. I feel like it would be an insult to Native Americans, is someone like me could enter their tribe. But I recognize it as a part of my ancestry and respect that greatly.
Siyo! Well actually with the Cherokee(Aniyunwiya) one could be totally white or black and could be a Cherokee, at least before the Indian Removal Act of 1835.I'm a Georgia Cherokee( a state recognized band)and you must be descended through one of the Cherokee that remained in Georgia after removal, and be on the "Zell Miller" rolls. Wado.
My mom is Navajo. My Dad is Huron, Ethiopian, and Greek. I grew up in Israel as a Jew. I am 1/2 Navajo and 1/8 Huron and I am enrolled in both tribes. I think if one claims and identifies as Native American we should welcome them. We should teach them our customs, language, and culture. We are one family.
I have no Indian card, yet I am more than a 1/4,(by far, the most common for most tribes), but I have no idea what kind of Indian I am from my mom's said, that is debatable. I know that alot of people on my mom's side passed as white. I am both white and Indian, but I can not enroll either. Before the whites came, Indians could marry within other Indians. I do not have a CDIF, and I am not enrolled in a federally reconized tribe, but I am very proud of my heritage.
Enrollment? Fugget about it! I can still hunt and gamble fish and swim in those badland lakes in SD and hunt deer in Lame Deer MT. even though I live in California. Connections baby!
This is a hot topic. I am of native descent, however I do not meet the blood quantum necessary for enrollment (there would also be mixed tribe issues). But this does not define me, it is ones culture, beliefs, practices, and community that makes them native - and for many of us, this will need to be enough.
i thought blood quantam who made to keep the black indians out , didn't know the red indians are being kicked out also.
