  • "Heart-wrenching"...Jim LIVES! >;-)

  • Jim's dad showed some dignity

  • Jim had a great dad and sis

  • I don't understand dubstep. If my son became dubstep superstar, would I ge evil if I didn't want to listen to that (in my eyes) shit... I wouldn't understand what's so special in there anyways. So I'd rather just respect what he does rather than sit, listen and say "how can anybody listen to this kind of sh**?"

  • 99 was the backdoor before jim ever ate chicken,,99 99 was a real BACK DOOR MAN,, JIM WAS A GOODIE,, WHAAAAAAAAAAA,,, 99

  • JAck ass and his sister,, id runn in a minute,, 99 says they screwballs, .. 99

  • Jims father embodied everything Jim was against he was the counter culture frontman and his dad was the opposing war ..pressured to succeed and accept the mainstream america man.

  • Jim was a great artist and one of the first bands I enjoyed. I think sometimes people get his art confused with his personal life. To preform is one thing to have a life is another. Let his family rest and just enjoy what he gave us. Riders on the storm is still my favorite driving song. :)

  • very careful well said said piece

  • Remarkably compelling video.

  • JIM MORRISON IS GOOD.

  • This is very sad and very beautiful

  • Admiral Morrison was a man of honour- a man of truth - who obviously loved his son even though hedidn't know him that well in his later life

  • Great interview and I am extremely grateful that Jim's sister and father gave us this gift.

  • The voice of Jim Morrison's sister reminds of Cindy Sheehan, one of the best and most revolutionary mothers of USA

  • Its because parents have a different form of thinking than younger people. You have to listen to the song "The living years" by Mike and The Mechanics. I think we should love our parents every day, unconditionally even if they treat us in a way that we don't like because they gave us life, food and some day they will not be with us. And in this evil capitalist world, the family is the only we have. thanks

  • Moving to hear this family perspective of Jim all these years later--Jim's sister seems like a genuinely sweet person and it was nice to see his dad talk respectfully and affectionately about his famous son.

  • Sad that his father hardly heard their music and only knew one title, "Light My Fire". I would think a loving father would want to hear everything of Jim's work.

  • it breaks my heart to see his dad choking back so hard at the very end of the video in an attempt not to let himself shed a tear

  • Notice the chubbiness in Morrison`s face in these pictures. This chubbiness reasserted itself in Morrison`s last few years. It`s true that Jim was intellectually brilliant-a great reader. But it`s also true that Jim had a bad relationship with his father.Jim had almost no contact with his parents during the last several years of Jim`s life.

  • Comment removed

  • @1994g0 gee, like yeh, we watched he vid, too ('almost no contact...), genius. And wtf does 'chubbiness in the face' have to do with anything except, he looked pretty healthy at the end of his life and not like a strung-out junkie who O.D.ed like they imply

  • nice video. I can tell the Admiral loved and was proud of his son . At least he was humble enough to admit he didn't share in his sons talents of poetry and the arts. Kindof explains the mystery of Jim's background before fame.

  • Jim was a natural -born leader and a visionary, yeah maybe he got the leadership from his dad. In the 'kwa, where they praise the neocon tool and dunce Reagan as a president or the muscle steroid mooviehero a california governor, anything should've been possible minus the drugs or whoever killed him - we still hear what he was sayin today

  • so was morrison the grandson of samuel eliot mor(r)ison?

  • sad that jims dad was to busy serving for a satanic military to ever understand his sons talent says it all about idiots in the military and how brainwashed they are

  • @freeweedable where are the 'peace now! and 'hands off' reactionaries of the 60s? Sittin in neocon thinktanks plotting endless warfare ion the middle east.

  • @freeweedable Kiss my ass... Both cheeks, go on, kiss it...

  • @freeweedable

That's a really silly thing to say. I'd elaborate but I very much doubt that you'd understand.

  • jim died in a night club of sniffing to much heroin he died on a toilet he was taken to his flat by the drug dealers and dumped in the bath to cover up the drug dealers that sold him the drugs and protection for the club that was dealing drugs openly

  • Can't. Stop. Sobbing. : (

  • Morrison's parents should be embarrassed.

  • @RealitySucks4me2 What are you, your mother's joke? lol

  • Handsome father, beautiful sister. Jim was truth to himself till the end.

  • It's nice to see a Father and son, who were on two seperate sides of the same coin, find what seems to a bond and respect for each other. I think that if Jim were to see, and hear the interview with his Father, and then could be with him, the closing scene would be... Tight hugs , Smiles and Tears. I'll bet now , they are together over a cold beer sharring stories with each other ,and having a Blast. Just a thought.

  • @fleshchef1 I think if Jim was alive he'd eventually return to the family. After all when a man becomes older his world view also changes and he'd start to understand Admiral Morrison and his point of view more too...

  • Moving video. Loved the Doors. Thought he was an okay poet, until I read "The Hollow Men," by Eliot. It blew me away, and then was amazed again, when it struck me as Morrison-like. Have always been told, his influences were much more Blake, and Rimbaud. But it's really Eliot. If you doubt either claim, check them out. I don't know if I would rank Jim up there with Eliot, but I could not be more impressed with the connection. Play "Road House Blues," or read him, and he lives again.

  • Father very handsome

  • That comment about the audience not wanting to hear his poetry is a shame. He was an excellent poet.

  • Not just his vocabulary, his imagination and creativity too.

  • Godspeed George and Jim Morrison,.....100 years from now will come new Fans and want to know everything about the Man named Jim Morrison who was larger than Life

  • Jim was a crooner like Sinatra and Dean Martin. He seemed to be an incredible intellectual. His dad and sister sure seem to be nice people.

His father was still grieving very much when they filmed this. When the smile drops you see the sadness in his eyes.

  • he was is first born and he clearly loved his son and missed him

  • FATHERFUCKER

  • What an attractve woman anne is.

  • To all those morons who over the years, defaced and painted graffiti all over the cemetery and Jim's grave, showed a complete lack of respect and decency.

  • @BuffaloRidgeRunner if james had no respect for his own life you think he'd care about markings on his grave?

  • The Doors are my all time favorite band, but I think the disassociation was on Jim's part, perhaps partly because Jim didn't want to impart any hardships on his father, what with him being a career Navy man. As to the idiot that said his sister was a jerk, I personally think she comes across as a very nice person who loved her brother and I believe his father loved him too, proved by the fact that he gave great thought to what he wanted on the plaque that he had placed on Jim's grave.

  • stupid people, why hold something against his father, fucking morons, if u really respect jim u would respect his family fucking morons

  • Father...

    Yes, son?

    I WANT TO KILL YOU!

  • Nice Dad huh,God help that stupid man....his sister is a jerk too.

  • Neglect is the ugly cousin of abuse. Jims gather neglected him ,of course he can't "know his son" thru the music , it reminds him he wasn't around his kid during all the important milestones of his life. What an ignorant shitheel !!

  • @despotzapper - What an ignorant shitheel !!"

You have the most ugly of all human traits. self righteousness. pathetic

  • he respected his son enough not to pretend he liked or understood his music.

  • @driedhidehills >;-)

  • It is such a tragedy that a parent outlives there child. Even though Jims dad might seem a little cold he is really heart broken you can see that in his eyes no Dad (no matter what their son is) wants to see his sons grave. I really feel for him. To bad he couldnt really connect with his son after he left but he regrets not doing it and I can bet the little money I have that if his dad can go back and do it over with Jim he would.

  • its incredible how his sister looked like him

  • Thanks for the posting, I often wondered about his parents, reading the biography was misleading, it seemed like the Morrisons didn't appreciate his music and legacy, Jim was in another world different from everybody's else, he was a very intelligent poet and songwriter!

  • wrong dad jim had it we all fans new it 4 ever 27

  • Comment removed

  • His talent WAS vocal! As well as the best frontman of ALL time!

  • @CreatingExcellence no doubt he has an incredible voice but let me put it this way im much like Jim my talent is in literature and things of that nature but also music but my parents only value the literature because thats what makes a great musician a great writer

  • Jims father gave his life to the service. None for his family. You can tell that Mr MOJORISIN suffered because of the lack of a relationship with his father. He couldn't cut out a little time for his son, who after all made a bigger name for himself?

  • That guy was a bad father ... he was so un-in to his son's life that he couldn't see his talent until after his road trip? Then he never listened to his son's music? Then he is "astonished" that his son was given such a great burial? No wonder Morrison was f'ed in the head ... I hope his father is rotting in hell so that he may learn to be a better Dad next time round.

  • @Markle6 Oh, it's the old blame the parents routine. There comes a time in every person's life when we can no longer blame others for who we are. In other words, we have to take responsibility for who we are. Jim Morrison certainly had the financial resources to get help, but did he? Did he ever check himself into a hospital? In a musical performance with Daryl Hall and 2 remaining Doors members, Ray Manzarek kept rapping about drugs. So shall we blame Ray too? Certainly not.

  • @Markle6 - I hope his father is rotting in hell"

if anyone derserves to be rotting in hell, it is people like you who make such ugly comments. The self righteous crowd strikes again. Trash

  • I was in the Navy too and can tell he was a great officer..the kind we sailors would give our life for..a good influence in Jim's life for sure..best to ya Jerry

  • i agree with him..jim couldnt sing a note in tune

  • A very touching piece.

It is amazing how Jim was so talented and his Dad was an Admiral.

You do not get up to that rank by being an idiot, so that explains a lot.

In some respects both Jim and his Dad were remarkable people, but from totally different worlds.

  • I saw the same thing on the latest RUSH DVD, Geddy's mother was saying that they (RUSH) just made noise... (or at least that's what she thought) Just Incredible...

  • I just kills my heart the way his father looks into the camera and his voice does something, and he says "I'm afraid I am a very poor interpreter of his talent"..

And when I think of how inspired Jim makes me, how I can mirror my thoughts and words in his. I get so sad, and sorry, both for his dad and for Jim, and for all who goes through the same.. You can say alot about this, but for being an army man George Morrison sure shared the talent of raw emotion !

  • @2010SecondsAway Very true, well said.

  • Sad..nice family..blame drugs for this loss

  • do you see the lines on jims sisters face, any half as shrink will tell you ,she.s nuts anyway i do not blame jim, his father and sister are misleading you.. His family are inbreads. 99

  • 99 LAYS BRICK, 99n also will promise every that when we invade Iran

we will do it swiftly and quickly., 99

  • Admiral George Morrison and legendary rock singer Jim Morrison both have my respects. The thing is, they lived in two diametrically opposed worlds with neither one understanding the other. They did the best they could.

  • I think his sister is a very very beautiful lady

  • Jim morrison and Kurt Cobain are possible the two greatest artists of the 20th century

  • Comment removed

  • most books would miss portray their relationship between father and son

  • karmas a bitch...I believe the people closest to us are souls we know and have known before and until we can have a different perspective on things...we can t see the connection. I think it s fitting that the man who never acknowledged his son would do so in a sentence on his grave! And the reason Jim Morrisson chose the name The Doors also fitting...If the doors of perception where cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is...infinite!

  • Jim's Dad sounds familiar. "Get a job", like anything else is useless.

  • anybody know any good books written about Jim?

And if there is none their should be, love to learn more about his philosophie on life.

Alltough his lyrics helped me out so far

  • @tom260481 I am reading about 10 books right now written about Jim and the Doors...Ray Manzarek's book, and John Densmore's book would be a good starting point...also his books of poetry...

  • TRUE TO HIS OWN SPIRIT , just perfect ironically enough chosen by his father

    Great upload btw

  • Jims Dad! Jerk!

  • @maridolejuice

    And why is that?

  • Jim is alive, i know it.

  • One other thing about Jim...he was very 'mental'. Some people are just like that. He had wildness in his eyes in all the pictures you see of him before the Miami incident. The pictures taken after the Miami incident show a man who probably realized that he'd finally gone too far and realized he was in a lot of trouble. I respect the hell out of Jim Morrison, but I don't think he was very much fun to be around. What a talent he had, tho. Especially when he sang the blues. None better.

  • Sometimes the connection between fathers and sons is impossible because they can be so diametrically different that there is no middle ground. Jim's dad sounds like a fairly nice guy who just didn't have a connection...him being in the Navy and Jim doing what he did. My own father and I never had that middle ground either. I don't think Jim's dad is a bad guy; it's just that they had nothing in common. Sad, but it is what it is...

  • @DivadSemloh good points.@woggerone, I don't agree with you. It's obvious Mr. Morrison loved & respected Jim deeply; he knew who he was, deep inside. The family had a great loss, as Jim's sister said; in ways you only know with family death. Children grow up & leave; & led lives their parents don't know the day-to-day. That doesn't mean they don't love their children far more than any fan. His thought for words for Jim's gravestone prove that. Their loss was greater than any fan's.

  • Really looking at the whole picture it is tragic. A man who died young and a father that really doesn't seem to care about it that much. My father is not much different from that old man. I understand him, but I also understand why Jim Morrison basically put him out of his life.

The Doors music is something that will never come about again. RIP Jim.

  • truism to destiny..truism to spirit..

  • You can see why he distanced himself from his father...

  • @74bomayemcfc

What is that supposed to mean?

  • thank god he went on his own.

  • thank you so much for this post

  • everything I used to read said his family (father) disowned him. Now th guy talks like there was never any problem.

  • How incredibly sad that his father can sit there and say he does not know Jim's songs other than the one title he mentioned...you would think at some point, to know his son better he would have gone back and listened to the music and gave Jim the respect he deserved...Is his Mom gone???

  • @ms3pugz as far as i know, she is alive )

  • @bones411gmail

    She passed in 06

  • @CreatingExcellence Thanks for the Info...I often wondered about that...since they got half of Jim's estate from the Courson's....Now that both parents are gone, I assume Jim's sister gets the estate now, and control of the decisions on Jim's behalf???

  • I know, wtf.

  • @ms3pugz I agree with this comment! How could he not see him on tv,never played an album,EVER listen to his son to see how talented he was EVER? What about the radio...or after his death ...yes I agree VERY sad..

  • @jeepgirlie70 Thank you...I just find it such a tragedy that he is a legend in the music business, an icon, one of the most famous musicians of ALL TIME and yet he never wished to know his son better-if only through the music. It's also sad that when Pam died, they sued for half his estate, yet don't care how he earned his fortune!!!! It's no wonder he listed his family as dead on his BIO...it's heartbreaking.

  • @ms3pugz

Jim was terribly hateful and resentful towards his parents. He was the strange son whose rebelous and anti establishment behavior drove a wedge between any relationship he could ever have with them. One time Jim's parents attended one of the Doors concerts and while they were playing "The End" Jim looked right into his mothers eyes and screamed "Mother.... I want to fuck you all night long" His parents were horrified. He was a rotten bastard & showed them little respect. Truth

  • @dustygrady If you read "Nobody Gets Out Of Here Alive" It talks about how hars hi's Father was on him, Which caused him to rebel. However' he should'nt have disrepected hi's parents in that way.

  • @LoveIsADarkPlace Disrespected i meant.

  • @ms3pugz some people aren't curious about anything outside what happens to them on a day to day basis- you think one would be curious about ones own son though - even if you hated that sort of music - did he see the movie (?) -

  • @ms3pugz His dad was from such a dramatically different generation and cultural mentality that I can't really hold it against him. He clearly loved Jim, but didn't understand him or know how to deal with him. I can identify with that in my own family, and I do not hold it against my parents. People do the best they can with what they know, especially when what they know is very deeply ingrained in their personality. I thought it was really nice what he said at the end about Jim.

  • Comment removed

  • @FindingAnatta The other thing is that his dad was a military man, and that's how they are. Very emotionless, always keeping their character. Even when he spoke about how he heard about his death. But when you look into his eyes you can tell how he really feels about it.

  • @FindingAnatta Bravo! Well said!

  • @FindingAnatta

yes me to, looked like he wanted to cry though...

  • @ms3pugz His father was an Admiral in the Navy. Some dots in life just don't connect. That's a fact. Jim found his own tangents and understood that.

  • @ms3pugz Why do you think he writes so many songs about his dad and the sea.He wrote from childhood memorys. His dad and he never saw eye to eye..Think about it his dad is a disciplined naval officer..He never gave Jim respect in his eyes you earned it.That is a terrible way to get respect..You dont get respect for yelling and kicking someones ass?You get it from trust and comunication..He had nither with his dad..The Doors are still a big band and his dad still wont praise for his abilitys.Peace

  • @ms3pugz Your right I often wondered why his family did not have more to do with him, But his dad was a rear admiral in the Navy so they was from 2 different worlds.

  • @PetraeKo yes he was there when the doors got there star on walk of fame. n i think the video is on youtube.

  • I thought this interview would never happen with his father out of shear stark contrast and rebellion between generations.

  • I have respect for the Admiral in that he doesn't listen and criticize, he simply doesn't listen because he knows, because of the generation gap, he won't understand the music at all.

  • @Urukthered I think the toboggan story is another false element in one of the books. Jim actually thought his little brother was kind of mean! There may have been some "torment," such as teasing over a name, but I don't believe that Jim was/is a cruel person, so I doubt that he seriously tormented his sibs. Sorry about your experience, though; it is sad.

  • I gotta laugh at the fact that his father was never really around and that instead of encouraging Jim on his career he pretty much down graded it,,,but then Steve was in the Navy as was my father both died in 2008 and they were from the old school so I kind of know where Jim was coming from... not comparing myself just that he was not really there for Jim and that is sad that those two never had a close relationship.

  • ...Jim was the Greatest Crooner since Frank Sinatra...who incidentially was Jim's Idol!

  • @Shamagogue i would have enjoyed listening to Sinatra singing one of Door's songs,or even Elvis

  • I've visited Jim's grave in Paris...very sad place. Makes you really wish he faked his own death.

  • Metal attitude \m/

  • @dermisdaniel Haha, yeah or any true artist for that matter. I always wondered what Jim would have thought of metal. Sabbath were releasing records when Jim was still alive.

  • Comment removed

  • I cant help crying when his father says somebody whe would like to know.....FUCK BEING FAMOUS!!!!!!!!

  • I never see Jim's younger bro. being interviewed. I guess those stories of Jim being a fucked up asshole are true. My bros. were like that, too. Still are. I don't really talk to them anymore, I'm oh so happy. They treat my mom like shit, like my dad did. I'm glad I'm the rebel in the family not listening to my bro's/dad bullshit influence. **Don't give me BS about "Oh they probably love each other..." If they did, they wouldn't be abusive assholes.

  • @cellardoor199991 oliver stone movie, sugerman book... bullshit, hollywood lie and bullshit. they didn't know Jim. i think we have no right to talk about Jim in such way "he was an asshole", we don't even have seen him...

  • @bones411gmail Sugerman knew him pretty well.

  • @cellardoor199991 he was just a little boy back then. moreover, there are a lot of people who said that Jim DIDN'T LIKE that bastard :)

  • @bones411gmail Really doesn't matter if he didn't like him. If you know someone you know them. Marlon Brando once said," People believe the myths about those they admire. All the positive, not the negatives. They only believe the negative characteristics about those they despise..." I think that's what is going on here. Morrison had a bunch of fucked up problems, most of them self inflicted from drugs. Nobody wants to believe it. Ppl hating on Sugerman because Morrison didn't like him? ..Stupid.

  • @bones411gmail My friend's mother went to school with him in Virginia, and she said he was a cocky asshole.

  • @UrukTheRed he was a cocky asshole? yea ahaha, what a surprise. He was definitely spoiled in his family

  • @hegemoniuspiper I don't know much of Jim's family life, so I don't know if he was spoiled, but I heard he tortured his siblings much like my older brother did to me and my sister.

  • @UrukTheRed if u want to know my opinion, i like his family, they seem nice persons and truly sad about the premature departure of Jim. He certainly has not much to be traumatized about his family years as many supposed. It's a pity anyway

    Missing in action

  • @UrukTheRed No surprise there. He was the first born and his looking the way he did, he was a deva like Diana theBitch Ross.

  • @UrukTheRed LOL and probably he was, many people glorify Jim but I pretty much doubt he was anybody you could be comfortable around. Though what girls consider a cocky asshole might not always really be an asshole at all :D They just don't understand that highschool kids want some pussay sometime

  • @cellardoor199991 I think you are wrong about that.He got a naval upbringing..That is a ass whopping all day long..That makes you abusive. His sister sure looks like it hurts her to this day.His dad looks like he wishes he had that time with his son back?Time to say all the things left unsaid..Peaceout and have a good 2012

  • @mdelair420 Fuck that. My father was a Vietnam Vet. He used to abuse us everyday especially my mom and older bro. I was a rescue swimmer in the Navy who trained with MArines. Being raised by an abusive parent doesn't MAKE you abusive. THat's based on CHOICE. Ppl who are stupid and are brainwashed by their parents become abusive. The smart ones who go to college and take psych./health to adjust themselves(me) are smart. There's no excuse for that.

  • @cellardoor199991 I wont argue with you..I am sorry you had that happen to you..My stepdad ust to beat my ass all the time..I am a nice guy.I suppose it is how much money your family had also?Plus other factors come into play..It is not the same for every one...I am not here to call you or any one stupid..That's judgemental and not my place to speak.I am humble and think the golden rule applys to every one..Have a good 2012 and peaceout

  • @mdelair420

You don't have to beat a kid..sorry when I here that, JC

  • @detroitbluesguy Thanks i feel the same way..It was not fun getting my ass kicked to please a sadistic person..My stepdad was a mean abusive guy..I am a laid back person in spite of it all..Just my nature to be nice to others..Have a good 2012 Peaceout.

  • @mdelair420

You have a good heart..a formula for success..and you live longer too, best to ya , Jerry

  • @detroitbluesguy Thanks,, how are the great lakes these days??I lived in Minnesota for awhile and Wisconsin also...Always found it really beautiful up there..Thanks alot for being a cool person it means more than you know...Peace and wishing you and your family health and happiness in the future..

  • 3:50 his dad is right about that. That's why critics consider him the first punk rocker. Less talent more publicity

  • @cellardoor199991 punks are little filthy suckers. Jim was bigger than these stupid junkies (punk-rockers). Keith Richards once said, that punk-rockers would never be real rock-stars - they just hadn't got courage to be real rockers

  • @bones411gmail I agree. But a rock start can be anything (including a fucked up junkie like Sid Vicious, Kurt Cobain, etc.)A rock star doesn't have to have talent. I listen to punk songs sometimes just for entertainment purposes. But yeah there some real morons out there. BTW, Jim's girlfriend was a junkie and Jim died from heroin(not alcohol-like many believe). Also Jim liked those punk/garage bands. Like MC5, the STooges, etc. I read a couple interviews of him saying that.

  • @bones411gmail at first(76-77) Punks weren't interested in becoming rock stars, that's what it was all about,NOT being part of that BORING,self indulgent crap(genisis, rush, yes, jethro tull etc)or the throwaway nonsense that was the 'pop' groups.Punk had to happen,it was"we're bored with your fuking crap,We're can do better ourselves, with whatever we can beg, steal or borrow"Butby autumn '77 tho' the original ideas had been stolen&watered down by the press and the B.B.C.(to be continued)

  • @mrbradleybaker And now Punk is watered down, boring and cliche. Punk has become pop. All those other acid rock bands from the 60's were exciting when they came out. Then it became mainstream. Just like what happened to punk. "We're bored w/ your fucking crap..." Every generation has that. That's why jazz came about because they got tired of folk, ragtime. Then rock came, punk, new wave, metal, grunge. Punk is just another bullshit trend like everything else.

  • @cellardoor 199991 Your right here aswell,as soon as the moneymen came it was as good as over. For example, one day this kid (well, same age as us)came in the room and he'd turned 'punk; overnight, was proudly showing us his 'new look'How he'd paid £20 for his mohican,£25 for his bondage trousers etc,we told him the idea of Punk was NOT to spend £25 on your clothes, hair etc.It was to spend fuck all and do it yourself,we then held him down shaved off his mohican and redesined his clothes.

  • @mrbradleybaker By the way if you read more interviews, people liked Johnny Rotten were influenced by Bowie, Jethro Tull. Steve Jones always loved Pink Floyd and advertised them on Jonesie's Jukebox. IF u believe all the BS media hype like punks hating prog bands, then were a fucking idiot. They only did that for publicity reasons. Also some prog bands loved punk. King Crimson were huge Sex Pistol fans. Jim Morrison admired garage bands like the Stoogies, MC5, etc.

  • @cellardoor199991 A lot of punks were just fake that way. One minute they're way into Purple, Cooper, Floyd, etc. then all the sudden they've got a mohawk and are saying "fuck that dinosaur rock bullshit".

  • @UrukTheRed Exactly. Honestly, I'm a little tired of rock because I have listened to every genre starting from the 30's to today. Rock, most of the time, is associated w/ music politics(punk vs. prog, grunge vs. metal, jazz vs. blues, etc) . That shit is too cliche and boring. I like a lot international music and music that fuses the genres I just listed. So much more exciting.

  • @cellardoor199991 rock is mostly about screwing it all up, against parents andbecause the girl next door doesnt look at u. Blues tradition is way more honourable and deep, apart than having started it all

  • @hegemoniuspiper That's not my point, but yeah I know that.

  • @cellardoor199991 I know what you mean. Rock is supposed to be about being real and all that, but like you said, it's all about music politics, as if you couldn't possibly like a prog band like UK (I do) and a punk band like The Anti-Nowhere League (I do) at the same time. Either way, both bands are legitimate rock bands and deserve equal respect, but there's a divide. I'm a metal guy for the most part, but I extend my ear to various forms of music.

  • @cellardoor199991 I agree with you,the first punk bands(tho' they would've never admitted it)admired the Stones,Iggy,Bowie,Hawkwind, etc.I dunno if you were in the u.k in '76/7,there was really only one radio station (raidio1,run by the bbc)and they only played bland crap.So whatever the Punks secretly liked&admired They had to say Fuck you bores,we've had enough.it was time for change.Bands like 'yes' with thier pompous nonsense and the crap that was played on the radio-it had to go.

  • Is 8:01 the DEFINITION of the term "tounge-in-cheek"? Or a coincidence?

    7:55 for the full context...
