Just got this game today. After 4 I'm a bit sad about the lack of city micromanagement in 5. (And also that the babylonians which are really to my strengths, will cost me extra.)

But watching your vids has reminded me of all the stuff I love about Civ, and I'm going to give it another try. (And perhaps even shell out some more cash).

You screwed up near those ruins. Declare war on Persia, then move the scout between them and the goody hut. They can either try to move around your scout (pointlessly, they won't be able to reach it) or they can attack your scout. Either way, they won't get to the hut first, and there's almost no chance they'll be able to kill your scout, so you'll be able to claim the hut. You already got a map reveal, so you're looking at culture or increase to pop. Both worth a brief war you can end.

Hum... City States can actually win! It's almost impossible, but they can. They can conquer another civs.

Example:

You're ally of one city-state and you enter war with another. Your ally will be at war with that city, so, they can conquer it!

Just a word of note Quill, when you had your scout on the mountain at roughly 5:45 looking down on the ruins to the north and persian warriors to the east, you should have moved onto the tile in between the two. This would have stopped the Persian warrior claiming the ruins due to movement costs being surrounded by a river and mountains and not being able to pass through your unit (as you do not have open border treaties yet). :)

@tntpde Oh simple, the Grey blank fog of war tiles are a lower setting instead of the nicer looking White cloud tiles eat up alot of graphics (in fact one of the most video intensive parts of this game)... as he said in the first video he turned down the graphics of the game so that he could both play and record at the same time which eats up alot of Cpu.

At 5:40 you could've blocked his path getting to the ruins if you wouldv'e kept going one more hex. Darius would have to 1: Kill you. 2: Go around you.

If I wasn't a huge history nerd I'd probably be getting annoyed with all the times you get sidetracked talking history...but I am, so I love it! Good voiceover work too, you can tell you're excited, which gets the viewer excited. Nothing's worse than listening to a monotone voice.

The culture victory is pretty easy. I played as the japanese and had SOOOO many policies. I am trying to get the domination victory with the russians because they get a good amount of strategic resources to build really good units that require that.
