Yes - you present a false dichotomy based on misunderstanding. Just because these are used for screening doesn't mean they are needed, nor does it somehow make it a screening vs no screening deal.
Two airplanes being used as missiles to topple the two largest buildings in New York (and Pentagon, and another plane), and people are more worried about the government cataloging 'photo's of their genital's that only depict the outline of objects then they are from preventing airplanes being destroyed in the air !
