  • I get a real chuckle when I realize that some who were considered the best of all time never even recorded Grand Galop Chromatique. I wonder why not ??

  • I wonder why comments to such videos are always so fucking stupid.

  • i like rap music

  • Hihetetlen technika! ..és egy ilyen embert elüldöztek a saját országából. Sok magyar még most sem tudja ki volt Cziffra György...

  • Genius... Incredible... But I still prefer Lisitsa's Galop

  • You have no idea how much I want to be that piano right now.

  • the last girl he fingered died...

  • Cziffra is an ancient alien and that's why he can play this

  • This has to be sped up..... it the only way my mind will allow this to happen.....

  • How could he remember which notes to play...

  • @RZ3296

As strange as it may sound, memorizing music is actually the easiest part. It's basically just muscle memory.

  • @RZ3296 that's the easy part!

  • yeah i have to agree with other comment made, he looks at the camera and sort of gives that kida "I AM THE SHIT" Cziffra

  • greatest Hungarian pianist ever :D

  • @nthlien

    greatest pianist ever :D

  • LIKE A BOSS

  • virtuosity = Cziffra

  • Dude, this guy must have gotten LAAAIIIID a lot......

  • Free notes of this piece you will find in : FREEMUSICBOOKS . COM (there many notes for free!!!)

  • Nagyon virtuóz! :)

  • 12 people got their fingers chopped off by Cziffra, just by using the piano cover and a BANG

  • Bravissimo!!!

  • i thought an octopus called cziffra would play this song

  • At the end, his face said "ok, now you try it".

  • When Cziffra first started performing in France an expert said;

"He's great, but who's he playing with?"

  • When he leans forward to concentrate a bit extra like those left hand octave leaps - it means you cannot play it, even if you are called Letitia or Evgeny.

When he his looking into the distance thinking about lunch, it means I can't play it.

When he's eating his lunch and playing some grade 8 piece with one hand, I probably still couldn't play it as fast.

  • Unlike other videos of this, this guy is clearly legit :D

  • I don't care if this is muscle memory. This is not humanly fucking possible.

  • @ymir233 who said Cziffra is human?

  • is there a piece that is faster than this? this is faster than all the etudes i have heard

  • @oneloveninja duh yes. listen to alkan's sonatines. those are the true hand-twisters.

  • AHAHAHAH PESO CHE LITZ DA LASSU SIA FELICE DI ASCOLTARE COME AVREBBE VOLUTO CHE S INTERPRETASSE IL SUO GALOPP CROMATICO BAGAHGAHGAHA SE FOSSE ANCORA IN VITA' AVREBBE NOMINATO SENZ ALTRO COME SUO SUCCESSORE CZIFFRA IL IU' GRANDE DEL 20 SECOLO E SENZA DUBBIO SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ZITTI DI LATO QUEI PSEUDOVIRTUOSI FENOMENI ASIATICI E NON CHE FANNO DELA VELOCITA' LA LORO TECNICA CZIFFRA SE AVESSE VOLUTO VI AVREBBE STRACCIAT TUTT ANCH IN VELOCITA' MA RIMANENDO SEMPRE MOLTO PIU' CHIARO DI VOI

  • Best of 1900s!!!!!!,

  • I like this! But one is not necessarily an idiot if one doesn't. Cziffra is a master whose technique is awesome. Great.

But why don't you try to listen to Valentina Lisitsa playing the same piece? Less technical focus yet more elegant. But again: Cziffra is great.

  • When I first watch this, I though he have 20 fingers.

  • @Prnzkamil he doesnt. he has way more than that -_-

  • @TripleRhu lol

  • Fantastic!!!!

  • Love Cziffra's expression in the final seconds of the video. "OK, you try that."

  • AAMAZING!

  • He's amazing to watch. I think he drank 12 cups of coffee before playing that.

  • @mikex01234

Hey,you think he drank 12 cups of coffee? There is not pianists who drink very much coffee. He practicedx10000000000

  • This, ladies and gentlemen, is what a concert pianist looks/sounds like on speed.

  • hey youtube, umm... there's a litlle glitch... i see a dislike button on the screen.. please fix as soon as possible

  • That guy kicks ass. Nothing else need be said.

  • badass!

  • OMG!!"!"!"!WQEE32REW8RFE9W8FE7W8FHDS8FH3

  • i'll be dam. bad ass ill tll you that

  • oh my god

  • Think I saw smoke coming out of the piano...it must be overheated after this performance...lol

  • Officially one of my favourite pieces.

  • How to give a piano a seizure for dummies

  • what a pitty that theire is no video of his version of bumblebee

  • @melagads there are a lot of cziffra's bumblebee

  • @TripleRhu where? i found some videos but only audio

  • @melagads oh, there's no videos, only audios :P

  • Are his hands really as big as they look? He looks small with GIGANTIC hands...

  • @tombennettpiano His hands are not small or giant. He has an extraordinary level of dexterity brought through many more hours of pratice than most in his early years. I would guess at least a third of his young life was spent at the piano, probably more. His hands "grew" into the piano to fit perfectly.

  • how many hours do you think he practised in his hole life..?

  • As usual, Mr. Bond, the pleasure was all yours...

  • Hm. Chuck Norris has competition...

  • @PrasunSurana

    hahahahaha

  • They dislike what they cant understand...

  • @pedrolindoguerreiro true, true

  • No. It depends. I took about a year to learn it this good. Search up "14 Year Old Plays The Grand Galop Chromatique." That's about a year's practice. It all depends on how fast you can learn, and how dedicated you are to the music.

  • how long do you should have lessons for this ??12 years??!!

  • how long do you should have lessons for this 12 years??!!

  • Megaflattening rules=) You just gotta love the way he can move in 3 octaves at light speed.

  • JESUS!!!!.....and he was drunk at the time of recording lol.

  • his fingers don't even look like real human fingers...

  • those old vids are quite heavily speeded up in soundwise tho :) just like the famous richter chopin rev. etude.

tho still he playes just sickly good.

  • LIKE A BOSS

  • Here we have the first alien on camera..

  • @DSAFSDFASFZDFSADFSDGSAAD

  • Holy shit... that's damn good....

  • Great Alternative record, I like this one even more.

  • EDITED!!! ...or is it? wow!

  • Impossible...its just impossible

  • Yes...or 4 hands.

  • It is very possible to play at this speed. You just have to have talent, practice, & dedication.

  • The video is sped up. The pitch doesn't sound off though, but look at his face at 0:47

  • This was one of the Liszt's most commonly played concert tunes when he travelled Europe. He retired form touring at age 35 and stopped taking pay for playing because he was so rich already. He was one of the greatest piano viruosos ever.

  • HOLY SMOKES THAT IS INHUMAN

  • it get's metal from 2:54 to 2:58

  • "I am the shit."

    -Cziffra to camera at end.

  • 9 justin bieber fans watched this video.

  • im still wondering how they see all the notes they hit or is it just a reaction or somethin??

  • @coolsims94 Your hands learn how to play the notes, it becomes second nature with enough pratice.

  • o.O

  • 1:36 EPIC BASS!

  • Terrible video. Everything was TERRIBLE!! Well.... With the exception of 0:01 to 3:08 which was superb, everything else was terrible!!

  • @123mazeppa You completely crack me up. Funniest thing I've heard all week.

I think Liszt would be super pleased with this simply amazing video of one of the greatest of pianists.

  • @123mazeppa lol i was about to post a reply to ur comment questioning your sanity and then i read it to the end lol

  • Oh cool. I was checking to see if this is a hard song to play..And if thats all there is to it, I'll have it mastered in time for dinner!...In the afterlife.

  • this is amazing, i wonder how fast he can type on the keyboard :S

  • Fucking Insane! left me speechless!! What A Skill!

  • OMG. I adore. IT'S AMAZING. AWSOME o____o.

  • A brilliant technique like Cziffras tends to bring out envy and the green-eyed monster in others with more puny gifts. Cziffra's super virtuosity suits this piece perfectly!

  • The piece itself is not technically difficult, but it's performed with such precision and technique....it's so pretty...

  • I thought the piano would collapse, from the sheer pounding he gave it,Cziffra performed at a circus at very young age playing popular songs of the era ,at the call of the audience, totally by ear, only later did he learn to read music. Was this guy a genius,? i think so!

  • sounds like something i would write lol

  • Wow his hands look like bouncing on that keyboard. This is not human.

  • Best painistes for me:Richter,Cziffra,Horowitz,Berezosky and Bozhanov.

  • @loboris1995

    Where is Michelangeli and Rubinstein?

  • @LisztBusoni I said for me,lol, every body has diffrent tastes.

  • @loboris1995

Without polemic, I only want to say what you think about Michelangeli. I like he, but many people don't like he, and I want know why.

  • @LisztBusoni I don't know ,I didn't say that I don't like him,but the pianistes that I menchened Are realy in my heart.even kissen or giles are not in there^^

  • I've forgot Hofmann^^

  • No one like him before or since ... and none that even come close.

  • That triumphant glance at the camera at the end is priceless. How can he play so fast (and accurately)? Enhanced neural pathways? Born on Mars? One of the greatest.

  • i am sorry but how can you compare this to valntina lisitas version????!!!!

He plays it faster and with more expresion...the pauses the work with tempo and sound intensity at this tempo is unbelievable ... this composition is meant to be played fast... so no race but performance.... in comparison to this valentina plays with no emotion, no passion, no musicality at all and even slowly.

Valentinas version is of course nice but must not!!! be compared to this....

  • This guy used to do nothing besides play the piano the whole day, huh? Did he used to eat sometimes?

(Sorry for the english. I'm brazilian.)

  • this guy is amazing

  • OMG.

    Supper!!!!

  • all right who's the 7 idiots that disliked this!

  • @SuperVincent1996 well, i'm the 'eighth'. This is pathetic, it really is, I don't understand how people can't see it, and are so impressed by sheer speed. it's comical - someone slow the tape down please!! It's a monstrous destruction of the music, there is no majesty whatsoever. Plain stupid. Such great technique.. so what? what use without artistry? Cziffra has the musical intelligence of a 7-year old, seriously.

  • @jegspillerpiano

i am sorry but you could not be more wrong. so what? to be able to play at that speed without making any mistakes is truly a sight to behold! it is not meant to be majestic it's meant to be a cleanly executed song showing of technical (thumbs up if you think i'm right) (thumb the other guy if you think he'she's right)

  • @SuperVincent1996

    i am one of them!

  • @SuperVincent1996 9 idiots. unfortunately.

  • he plays so fucking fast, it looks like it's in fast forward...

  • oriasi mester!

  • Cziffra's technique is so awesome, that he could have played the entire thing without the the pedal and did indeed play a good portion of it without the pedal. The Galop is also an amazing piece. Consider the daring passage at 2:22; also his use of modality and other advanced harmonies throughout. And remember that this piece was written in 1838.

  • teonichelli - you are clueless - you have a lot of growing-up to do.

  • cziffra had such incredible technique.

this was a waste of his talent, though. of all liszt's piano compositions, this is such a junk piece. absolutely no musical thought whatsoever, just a lot of flashy bravado. if only liszt could have been serious more often.

  • @teonichelli

    HAHAHAHAH

You, teonichelli, some random guy in youtube, thinks that FRANZ LISZT, one of the greatest VIRTUOSOS of all time, should have been more serious at playing piano.

That comment could definitely not be more retarded! hahahah!!

  • @teonichelli watch?v=QY69lc3vPvI&feature=related

  • How much sugar did he have? o.O

  • is this 1x speed?

  • The best

  • That is SO BRILLIANT!

  • Left hand again is crazy at 2.43

  • GOD daaaammmmnn this is soooooooooooooo fuckin good im speechless how can he play this piece sooo fast and still so clear?!!!!!!!!!!!!! unbelieveable technique!!!!!!!

  • @hotbebimauz Also, watch how far his left had jumps from 1.37 - 1.40..

  • @Jim341046

don't forget the film technique... images (like in all black n white movies) are faster than in real live..that's because they only had 8 pictures a second.. nevertheless this is an amazing performance...great technique..!

  • @genomos90 What I find so scary is that he doesn't look that 'pressed' - more in the tank as it were. I love the way he looks into the camera at the end. There is no technically better pianist who ever lived period.

  • The speed and precise force of each bar is stupifying. By the end, it's almost too much to believe that a human being could have that emotion and ability to play any instrument.

  • I almost wonder if he played it slow and someone just fast forwarded it, that's how fast it looks. xD

  • The left hand in this piece at 1.37 to 1.40 is faster moving that any piano I've seen on You Tube. I wouldn't be surprised if his hand is moving faster than someone running! He's jumping 2 octaves in milliseconds.

  • the best pianiste

    cziffra

    liszt

    rachmaninov

    alkan

  • @pyrorca where is rubinstein ?

  • @ChundomanX

    OH

sorry i have forgot him ^^

  • Great virtuoso but too much agressive with the piano...

  • I just watched a UCTV production where Cecil Lytle played this. It was slower though. So is this guy just showing off or can Cecil Lytle not play it this fast?

  • Wow the main thing i dont get is that he can play a totally different beat with his left hand while playing a totally different one with his right I'm like DURR xDDD So everytime i try to play a differentbeat my other hand does the same beat

  • @123OnigiriRebecca That's a basic skill any pianist should have. It just takes a bit of practice.

  • @123OnigiriRebecca Mine, too! lol

  • amazing skill and concentration

  • Unbelievable!!!one of the greatest performances of all times!super-virtuoso pianist and by far the best performer of Liszt!

  • the way he is sitting it looks like he has two left hands

  • at 0:46 it looks as if it is sped up

  • Oh man its like he's doing karate on the piano!! I love it!!!

  • speachless...

  • @kran444

    fucking l00ooo000l ?"?"?""?

Cziffra's got the BEST technique of all 20st century, this is one of his best works and you say ...

"this is not bad at all" !?!?!?!?!?!

are you drunk or just stupid ?

    EPIC COMMENT

  • Comment removed

  • @jorgeuds Valentina Lisitsa plays it more musically. Music is never a race. It is art.

  • @jorgeuds Cziffra did NOT have the BEST technique of all....

  • @Atlantis2184

Cziffra had the technique, feeling, contrast, and dynamics of 2 Liszt's and 5 Horowitz's. Just my opinion :p

  • @ClassicMusicOnly

Well outside of our opinions most people regard Liszt as the best ever and Horowitz as the best of the later half of the 20th century.

  • @Atlantis2184

Well I would agree to that, I think though, that Horowitz is regarded so much because he was unarguably massively famous. This is was not the case with Cziffra. Yes, he was famous, but when I asked a couple of my friends outside my musical community, they could make out Horowitz, but not Cziffra, same with my parents. It might be, that many people were no exposed to Cziffra as much as to Horowitz which makes them a little one-track minded.

  • @jorgeuds Clearly, a comment from a Bieber fan.

  • @jorgeuds he can only fight in technique with Richter

  • @kran444 hahhahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahhahahahhahhahhahahhahwahhahahahahahahahah

  • I think this is a great perfomance for a pianist to play it like this !! Like usually, congratulations for our great fighter of the piano Cziffra!

  • the Resurrection of Liszt
