God, I grew up listening to you, and now I have the honor and opportunity to comment, leave some words in the videos of my idols, that's really sublime ... a petting Blackmore in her kind heart!
The only thing that could make this better is watching it with high speed internet. Since I recently moved I'm stuck for the moment with dail-up. You know what I mean, getting 18kps max. I can go to work and by the time I get home the video is ready to play. But yes it's worth the wait. Cable modem where are you........
@neen070456 Well I guess Ritchie would know for sure, but for certain he has been scalloping Strats since around 70/71 see the video Deep Purple - No No No take2 HD 1971 Rehearsal Session, in my favourites. Fender also do a Blackmore signature Strat with a scalloped fingerboard. I have one and also a Malmsteen strat which has a deeper scallop
@neen070456 Ritchie was one of the first ever guitarists who used to rasp his own fretboard himslf, in the early 70s (they never sold them like that before). Ritchie was in fact one of the prime innovators (as recognised by rock historians).
What a fine intro!!! Though I,m absolute a Blackmore fan, must confess that never liked the riff of SOW, but it is a bit faster version and much better.
But the best part is unambigously - for me - the intro (with minor chords)!
Awesome, majestic, fabulous, superb, out-of-this-world... - a totally re-invented version by the maestro himself: the one and only Ritchie Blackmore - top-man of rock, riffs, composer, frontman, guitar wizard, and much, much more... without compare!!!!
@Toottycat Absolutely agree about Mr.Blackmore! But Tony Iommi is awesome too. I love Ritchie, but Iommi's blues improvisations make my crazy. They are two genial musician in different styles, and what you call a true rockstar! Please turn, turn, turn to rock-n-roll, dear Ritchie!
@beggarhipnotized Well, both guitarists are 'top of the range notches', in a class of their own, unassailable by their peers, who lag behind in class (even more so by today's standards). As for Ritchie returning to his rock-star days - well, that will never be. The intro to this version of 'Smoke' already beckons to a classical music infusion, now ultimately blossomed in his Blackmore's Night folk-rock Renaissance act. At his age, to repeat his past glories would be quite stale
Thank you for bringing this music back into my life.. You have all of this great footage, etc. But I don't see it in stores. Either I did not look hard enough or...
Totally awesome. This is still one of the most memorable riffs. It must be a wonderful feeling to create something so classic. This riff is up there with Mozart and Bach's best. I am serious. Stay awesome
Man, Ritchie's great! No matter whether it's this great song, or any song. And I loved when he kicked the guitar. Yeah! Love watching your videos! Happy New Year.
THANK YOU! As a disc jockey back in the 70's I played the HELL out of any and everything that had Ritchie Blackmore in it, and can't thank you enough for giving me not only such great material to work with, but all the GREAT TIMES I had with friends and new friends I made every day, because we shared this love for R&R and monster guitarists! Loved you and your band the first time I ever heard you, & always will. Glad you're still laying down such HOT SMOKE ON THE WATER! ~Dean in Abilene, Texas

*GASP* I think they are faking it!
in the opening riff, it looked like Ritchie's fingers wheren't matching, and the singer's (sorry I dont know his name) lips didn't match the words.
