Sam Harris: Over the Rainbow

I think that his best rendition of "Over The Rainbow" was when he performed it on the "Motown Returns To The Apollo" special in 1985. I was lucky enough to tape that special on TV and I have worn out several VHS tape versions of it, and have now had it copied onto a DVD. Whenever I watch it, shivers run up my spine! Sam has been graced with one of the purest voices I have ever heard ! I love all of his music!

I saw the original performance on Star Search.He blew me away.His voice has matured and of course his style has changed,I believe, to appeal to an older generation.I had either heard or read that he has been in on stage musicals,which is sad because it does not 'showcase' his talent.He's still awesome and it's too darn bad he's too old for America's Got Talent .Simon Cowell would have made Sam a multimillionaire.His voice is pitch perfect and quite amazing to jump from one octive to another.

Sam Harris can do what I refer too as Vocal Gymnastice...and can go from one octave to the next with the greatest of ease.

Hey Ivan, don't know what a crack pipe is, but if it's a pipe full of crack, then you must have been smoking it man. The song is very badly sang and he is just jumping on the same old band wagon of second class vocalists.

i acutally found that version to be quite boring. he took from both of pattis version. hers with the bluebelles and and her solo. i like vonatrons version better. at least he does it in pattis key. i do have the start search version and the apollo versions of sams OTR. ill post them.

what the hell are you talking about? all i said was that he took from both of her versions. secdonly...patti didnt coach crap! she didnt even know who the hell he was when he was on star search. she didnt meet him till after she heard about him singing the song. and i know this b/c she talked about it in her concert.

I was there that night...I've been a fan since 1980-something when I first heard him in Star Search...I was only 14. Having the chance to FINALLY see him live, after all those years...was very surreal. We got to talk to him afterwards, as well. The two times I saw him at Schroeder's was incredible, I'll never forget it.
