Rocky can win: He has the ability to stay in so close, not clinch, & slip much better than given credit for; he might neutralize Mike's power & speed. The trick's getting inside: He's gotta do it at the beginning of every round, & stay there, or immediately get killed. The only HW champ shorter & less reach-y than Mike, he won't be safe anywhere else. Stubby-armed Rocky's really fighting when this close, Mike not so much. Enough rounds like this back-to-back, & a frustrated Tyson beats himself.

two great champions.. can't really compare the two. Sports medicine, training and diet were nowhere near as advanced in the 1950s as they were in tysons time. The Rock was way too small to be competetive as a heavywieght today. he wieghed in the 180s or 190s most of his title fights, as did most of the contenders then. Size DOES matter.Marciano would probably have not been able to crack the top 5 heavywieghts since 1980. He woud have killed at cruiserwieght though.

Marciano could not be intimidated and even if Tyson would have repeatedly knocked Rocky down in the 1st round. two great champions.. can't really compare the two. Sports medicine, training and diet were nowhere near as advanced in the 1950s as they were in tysons time. The Rock was way too small to be competetive as a heavywieght today. he wieghed in the 180s or 190s most of his title fights, as did most of the contenders then. Size DOES matter.Marciano would probably have not been able to crack the top 5 heavywieghts since 1980. He woud have killed at cruiserwieght though.

Tyson at 19-20 would have knocked Marciano out in a round or two.
Tyson in his later career wouldn't have gotten anywhere near him.
Got to remember that Marciano was much smaller than Tyson, and with a young Tyson there was nowhere to hide. He always caught them, and when he did it was over.

@justin26UK Marciano had more heart and was a harder puncher and for one time Tyson would be bigger, Rocky would of hit him with some bruising body shots, Tyson wasn't hit in the body a lot and he wouldn't be ready for the pressure, Rocky was better than Joe Frazier.

Tyson ranks below Marciano in my all-time Heavyweight standings, but styles make fights, and I think he takes Marciano out early. First off, let's remember that Rocky is giving away 30 lb to Tyson. Marciano was a puncher, but unlike Dempsey, he didn't throw bombs in combinations, and I don't see him taking out Tyson with a single shot. Yes, he did it to Walcott, but that was a once in a career punch. Crucially, Marciano was a terribly slow starter, Tyson a fast one. Tyson TKO inside 4, I reckon.

but tyson had a fair chance too, his hand speed and power might have caught the Rock. Thing is that if Marciano decked tyson, he wouldnt be likely to continue, but when Tyson decked Marciano, he would get up and keep going, and that would bewlider tyson into defeat.

As for power, I think Marciano hit harder but they're two different types of punchers, Marciano was a 1 hit artist and Tyson killed with his combo

what people do not relise is that a young tyson would spend all his time in the gym, in front of a mirror, or watching old fights. Cuz was the best trainer of our time. he was all buisness. He would refuse to lose.

He would have kept coming forward bulling tyson which tyson hates he breaks when he gets bullied. Marciano is also tooo fucking overrated. all he had was power and a good chin but so did Tyson. and prime for prime Tyson sure as fuck had more weapons and the heart and skill to go the distance.

Patterson would have made a fine Light-Heavyweight champion had he stayed at 175 lb - at Heavyweight, he just wasn't robust or strong enough to beat a Marciano. The disaster against Johansson first time out, the demolitions at the hands of Liston and the fact that he was floored by the likes of Rademacher just show that Patterson simply couldn't handle punchers. Marciano would have blown him away.

first of all i want to say iam a big fan of both fighters but i think tyson would win pretty easy he was faster stronger and had better skills. rocky had power great chin heart endurance. but rocky never faced anyone with the speed and power of tyson. rocky was the great for his time but i dont think he could match it with tyson. tyson would be to much for rocky.

I have read most of these posts over the last week. I am not sure why there is racial overtures mentioned. Bottom line Marciano doubters (and I am not saying he is invincible), but we are talking about Tyson here. Marciano could not be intimidated and even if Tyson would have repeatedly knocked Rocky down in the 1st round. Tyson would be pysched out because of this along with Marciano hitter him harder after each round. Marciano= heart + class. Tyson = figure it out from his fight history.

Marcianohad heart but no skill a prime Tyson had the heart and skill to either outbox you or knock you the fuck out. He didnt have stamina issues then. Besides if Marciano got floored by Walcott and Moore in the first round im sure Tyson was accurate fast and powerful enough to bring him down as well.
