If you guys really upto learning linux or unix commands, I can recommend training dvds by unix academy for under $100 you get both training and certification. I was windows person for as long as I remember, but because of my job started with Linux and I'm really impressed how much I learned in just two weeks. For system administration EVi Nemeth' books are very great too
If you are more interested in system administration than security auditing, there are better livecds than backtrack.
Sysrescuecd is my favorite because it is based upon Gentoo, includes four kernels, two each 32 and 64 bit for working in different chroots, and includes a good set of programs.
Actually I have found that BackTrack is starting to (frankly) suck. I like Xubuntu and then install all I need for pentesting. However, this means I have pentesting software on my machine so.. eh...
If you're referring to Knoppix Security Tools Distribution (STD), then yes I would say that BackTrack is better because Knoppix STD is outdated and no longer supported. However, Knoppix also has a live CD distro which isn't network security based. If security based is what you're looking for than I suggest you use BT. If you want a Linux live CD distro in general, Knoppix is good as well.
Great Video, i am on Ubuntu 7.10 and u told me a lot of how to use Command Line , thanks a lot please post more videos like this on terminal, Thanks a lot

Is BackTrack better than Knoppix??...
GeneHunt1973 2 years ago
Knoppix STD? I'd say BackTrack is most known for wireless WEP cracking. It has other stuff, which is great too, so I'd say backtrack.
