Are you turning on the mags after you engage the starter? If so why?

@bennyboy391 When you press the starter button, it sends pressurized air into the cylinders, and it actually actuates the vibrator as well, so it begins producing the first explosions. When the engine starts to turn on its own, then the magnetos come in and you let go of the starter.

It's the standard start procedure for the M14P motor. These motors start on the ignition booster coil which energises when the starter is pressed, and when it fires, the mags are switched on. Maybe didn't quite have the prime right (usual reason for not starting first go on the M14P).

Actually I tried something like 8 different setups. If you want some good video quality, go for a bullet cam (520 lines). You'll find good ones, with Sony CCD, for around €120.

I then use a Sony camcorder with A/V in to record in DV PAL format.

You can alternatively use a DVR that records mp4 to SD/MMC cards, but the video quality is much less than recording to MiniDV tapes.

By the way, this particular video I made with an Archos DVR + cam, but it stopped recording soon after the engine started due to excessive vibration that the hard disk inside the DVR couldn't handle.
