  • Filson makes great stuff. My Father was in the Forest Service after he got out of the Army in the 70's and he gave me his Filson made USFS jacket that I still wear. The collar and cuffs are worn but still a great jacket for it being 40 years old.

  • Damn...not too shabby!

  • great job sarge come home in one piece soon look forward to seeing you at the gathering

    this year

  • I really enjoy your videos sarge. How about hookup with a medic and do some first aid?

  • looks nice derek! you could do a video on your edc carabiner if you need video ideas

  • Thanks for all the vids and thanks for your service to our country! Wishing you a safe trip back home from another New Englander.

  • SWEET

  • Wait.. yer NOT Marry Poppins? Damn.. that's why I subbed.. LOL >_o

Great video brother.. I'd need a lot of first aid since my sewing skills SUCK. =\

  • @markshmily

LOL Eat! and thank you ; )

  • Sure gave me some ideas! Can't wait to see some home survival vids!

  • @macki30

  • great job brother!!!

  • Awesome work. Somebody hit the dislike button by accident.

  • looks comfortable!!!!

  • Wow, what a skill, ...fantastic, ...we train everything, ...but how to make clothings, ...Super Sarge! Thank you brother.

  • @Waldhandwerk

    Thanks Sepp!

  • Great video brother! That piece came out great. The idea for the hood is awesome! HAve a safe trip back!

  • @Prairielandbushcraft

    Thanks Todd ; )

  • Great stuff Sarge. Think you can be very proud how that came out.

  • Good job Sarge, I like the looks of it.

  • That's a great idea with drape with the hood attached! Great stuff, Buddy.

  • I was reminded of Gardez as I watched your video, especially when another guy went into his room and I heard the creaking springs on the plywood door (ha ha)! You might not be Mary Poppins but I think you did a great job on that short. One hell of a project to pass some time over there too.

  • nice one sarge!!! just be safe always buddy!

  • @r1chmond10

    Thanks brother...and i surely will

  • I made one of these last winter...based on Dave Canterbury's instructions in one of his vids. It came out well. I like your pocket idea. Perhaps I should add one to mine.

  • @watchthisonemore

cool man...and the pocket is a good idea for sure ; )

  • Dude! You're looking like the hulk man. They got you carrying the saw, or what? ;-)

  • @wtinnen

LMAO.....just picking up weights and putting them down bro hahaha

  • Good Stuff Sarge... Do you see any issue with those blankets being 14 percent synthetic? I know dave likes the 100% wool but if your synthetics are polyester and accrlic I don't see too big of an issue.

  • @MrEhud77

i dont see a big deal in wool thats not 100%......but havent done much testing either to be honest to be able to tell.

  • @sargefaria Well when you figure that polyester and acrylic both still insulate when wet (though not quite as well as wool) and that polyester actualy wicks moisture.. I just don't ee how there can be too much of a difference, now if they threw cotton in there I'd be pretty leary of it.

  • I thought that was a Filson that was underneath. How do u like the Mackinaw? I was thinking about getting one but I have never seen one in person so I wasnt sure if it was actually that thick and warm.

  • @ryan4785

it is a filson bro......not very thick. pretty much same as an italian wool blanket in thickness but HEAVY as hell. and it is very warm

  • nicely done, I am looking forward to trying one myself. Thanks for the info and your service.

  • Hey,

    It lookes awesome man...=)

I think i will try to do something like that later on...

Keep up the good work and stay safe.....=)

  • Good work Sarge! I appreciate your videos a lot and the time you put in to post for us from so far away. Thank you, and be safe. Oh and I think the snow is waiting for your return.

  • @NEbigfoot

thanks man.....i hope it is. dont think i have ever had cabin fever this bad before hahaha....and miss the snow for sure!!

  • You did an awesome job on that, I think that I would be able to make one just based off this video, of course I'd have to figure out the measurements for myself but that would be the only struggle I think. I hope you get home safe Sarge, thanks again for sharing and for posting such great videos. Take care and god bless you and thank you for your service to our country, I know I have thanked you before but it can always be said again.

  • @atruepatriot92

Thanks man, glad you like my videos. And my service is made easy when great people like you all support us! Thank you very much for that!

  • Great job sarge, I"m and XL if you really feel like making another one - LMAO - Marc

  • @LiveFreeAndBushcraft

    hahaha Thanks Marc

  • You could have sewn the hood inward so you didn't have that spine going across the top of it.

  • @gaaraman082

thought about it but wanted it this way for looks. as u see i trimmed the whole thing out this way ; )

  • @gaaraman082 But then you'd have the spine going across the top of your head. That wouldn't be as comfortable.

  • Great work on the shirt

And thanks for all you and the rest of the solders do to keep us safe

  • @winnipegdiver

    thanks man

  • Thank you Sarge. Looks good. Have a safe return my friend!

  • @darthwelt

    thanks Kev....appreciate it bro ; )

  • really cool, that is some thing you can do and use in bush,

    be careful down ther,

    fredde

  • @hobbexp

thanks fredde......wanted to do it when i returned home but didnt have the patience haha

so did it now for you guys ; )

  • Mary Poppins has got nothing on you as far as making wool shirts! Good job Sarge, stay safe brother!

  • @jolietjake1970

    LMAO....thanks brother

  • Looks great, but now made in Afghanistan ?

  • @Trailtraveller MADE IN AFGHANISTAN by AMERICAN GI...... love it!!

  • Hey Derek, wow! i would never be able to create such a shirt, good job old man! :D

  • @Danishbushcrafter

    ha!...old man huh? lol...thanks lil buddy ; )

  • Nice I ordered a boreal from lester river bushcraft in Dec. It ready and on its way now but still would be cool to have one that I made myself may order some blankets off Mitch and make one that's for the ideal stay safe

  • @bodiemyers

ordered one from him also lol.....still waiting tho

  • Great job...much respect to you and we are all waiting on your safe return...God bless...John G.

  • I discovered from doing viking reenactments that they thew how to stay warm. Simple things like a wool hood that sits over the shoulders, and wickelbanders (wool leg wraps) work great on cold nights.

  • i have one of those military jackets do you wear them under your shirt ????? prob a stuipid question but im not very edjumacated

  • mate got some socks that need doing can i send them over hahahahahah nice vid bro thanks for the sarge fix digging those photos too

  • thanks everyone for your comments and kind words!

  • Very cool, I have been thinking about tryng to make myself one also.

Thank You for what you do and get home safe.

  • very cool i like the hood being a second piece

  • Good job man.Recently picked up some surplus wool shirts and thinking about doing a hood for them.Just wondering now that you're finished with the hood would you have done anything differently or do you do any mod's to it like the drawstring? Take care bro and get home safe.

  • @mcb2206

thanks, i think the draw string would have been good to have....but very happy with what i got

  • That is a great looking wool smock. Really good design. Thanks for posting and glad to have you back stateside soon! Be safe man!

  • Great Video, I purchased 2 US military wool blankets just for this project. Yes 2 I'm not a small guy and I want it to go down to my knees. Thanks for the Video!

  • nice job, did you enjoy the show on the Siberian Fur trappers?

  • @LivingHistorySchool

loved it man....watched it 3 times now lol. "happy people of the taiga"....highly recommended watch for sure!

  • Good video, I got some good ideas on how to cut out the pattern. The hood idea I like being and the pouch in front. A running seam is alot faster and if you back stitch it works good. Im no Mary Poppins either but I didn't sew for poop till I looked it u on YT how to sew lol. Now im sewing everything in the house.

  • Great job Sarge. that pull over hood is the way to go. Very versatile

    Nate

  • Thank you for your service! God bless and get home safe!

    John

  • Good Job! are you sure your not a Mary Popins? No just kiddin!

  • thnks for doing what you can for us youtubers', and our country, come home safe
