Well the presentation did a lot of comparison of a national healthcare system to socialism, which i reckon is the big insurance industry's best defense assuming just the the word "socialism" scares ya. But the point is this, every American will be sick at some point in their lifetime. What in the world is wrong with allowing the American people to pool their healthcare contributions in a non profit type national coverage plan. What healing is ever acquired in insurance company's profits.
socialized medicine is not good for america.we have the best medical care in the world, and i dont know why anyone would want to change that. the government cannot run the healthcare system.
@margiemp Yet America has a lower LE than Cuba, and pays almost 50% more on health care per person than any other country in the world. @margiemp you have just about the best healthcare that MONEY CAN BUY (keywords, money can buy). The fact is the US is the only Industrialised Country where people die because they cannot afford medical treatment.
It pretty obvious to most poor Americans that Republicans are simply greedy self centered racist with no moral ethics. You know where socialized health-care first appears in world history? It appears in the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx. Having the government tell YOU, the citizen who, when, and where to receive any sort of health treatment is an infringement of civil liberties. Socialists and Communists may be different but are actually very similar in the way they would agree with health-care especially socialized health-care, the only difference between these two parties is how it is ultimately achieved.

When I was only a toddler, I had a deadly infection near my Jugular vein in my neck. I was getting dehidrated, running high fevers, and passing out. I almost died. My parents were hard working people who had struggled their whole entire life, but rose to success with effort. They could afford the medicine to cure me. If the Health Care plan had been intact, it would've taken weeks and weeks and weeks before they could get me any medicine. I would've been dead long before they got to me.
@colour749 Do you realize that people from countries like Canada and France, where medicine is socialized, often come here to America to escape the horrible HC plans in their countries? So, it really doesn't work, does it? And It's a hard decision to make, but the people who work hard their whole life have rights to medicine more than the people who fart their way through school and don't work at all. Letting someone die is a horrible, horrible choice, but they brought it on themselves.
i live in a country with socialized medicine, the UK.
i wont go into politics to deeply with you because i understand you might not understand but basically the sponsors of the news channels that lie about socialized healthcare are healthcare companies, so obviously the news channel has to protect its sponsor and income.
everything they make up about socialized medicine is complete bullshit.
common humanity is more important then money and protecting greed.
@colour749 No, the thing is, Republicans say such scary things that the ultimate belief is that we say those things to scare people. The truth is, they never made any of that stuff up. It's completely true. Things that RR warned us about dozens of years ago are happening now, every single day. But back them, people called him an idiot for believing that that stuff would actually happen.
@colour749 I had to get the operation immediately. Again, I would've died. Our system allows people medicine depending on how hard they've worked their whole entire life. Other systems allow you to live or die depending on how you can contribute to society.
@colour749 Your health care leaves people to die if they can't contribute to society enough. Oh, and in America, you can go to the hospital and say "I'm sick, I need medicine" and whether you can pay for it or not, they have to treat you. You'll just be in debt. "theres so much murder and shootings in america" where did you get that from? We have very low crime rates compared to some other countries. And the place where you were born has nothing to do with goodness of heart.
LOL you just made up that part about people being left to die, EVERYONE IS TREATED FOR FREE EVEN IF THEY REFUSE TO PAY TAX, JUST KILLED A POLICEMAN, TRIED TO KILL THE HOSPITAL STAFF, EVEN ADOLF HITLER WOULD GET TREATMENT FOR FUCKS SAKE.
america has 11,000 GUN DEATHS A YEAR and on average in the UK we have 50
@colour749 I didn't make it up, and I could say the same thing about you-saying I only like people because of their money. You have to get treated whether you can pay for it or not, and it's much quicker than in the UK. You seem to be under the impression that I hate Britian, but I LOVE British people, okay? I just don't like the Health Care there.(c)
you have never experienced our healthcare system, i have.
your opinions on our system were made up ON THE SPOT by healthcare payroll politicians such as John Mccain and biased news presenters such as Glenn Beck.
OUR SYSTEM WORKS BETTER THEN YOURS, WE ARE 19th IN THE WORLD YOU ARE 37th, YOUR HEALTHCARE IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE IN THE WORLD OURS ISNT EVEN IN THE TOP 10.
the stuff about people getting refused treatment and long waiting times is bullshit but does happen in america but never here
@colour749 You've never experienced my Health Care system. How could you possibly call me ignorant when you're in the same position as I am? And actually, I've never listened to McCain or Glenn Beck preach about Health Care. What are their views, again...?
And who is that rated by? Socialists like you? Because "better" is an opinion, and my opinion is that my Health Care is one of the best.
And how does it happen in America but never there?
@colour749 (c)That's because you don't have any guns. How can you possibly have gun deaths if you don't have any guns? There over 307 MILLION people in America, leaving the people who die in gun deaths in America in a year at .0036%. Then there's the few people who commit suicide with guns, shoot someone/thereselves by accident, and a few other reasons, leaving the people who shoot people because of their corrupt morality WELL UNDER .0036%.
The uk and canada have health care, in fact all western nations exept for the USA has health care and we are not soicalist states. Our one payer system allows us just as much freedom to choose as the USA incurence company. As long as the doctor thinks you need it and its cover you get it up here, no worring about how you are going to pay for it, no fighting with the insurence companys, no getting turn away because you cant pay. But if you want to make the insurence companys rich go right ahead.
@fairbae Really? Because it seems to me that the Americans are the only ones offering a decent argument on here, while you just posted an insulting, three-word comment with incorrect grammar for no reason
Can't deal with his criminal government (much like Bush's) and his propaganda. In fact, screw the Democrats and the Republicans, we need the independents to rise up.
You know what is funny about this? Ronald Reagon was PAID to say these things by the AMA to oppose Medicare... I guarantee if people knew this, they wouldn't be touting it around trying to scare people into being against this new law. Ronald Reagon was an ACTOR at one time too, people.... Also, if you ask the people that are benifeting from having medicare... to give it up... I guarantee they would not.. even if they are against this law.
@gypsydarklady This is the conservative position and Reagan was a conservative. The AMA is behind Obama and national health care, so did they change their mind, or did Obama buy them? Your comments about people on Medicare only prove how addicting "dependence" is--all the more reason to oppose socialized medicine from the outset.
@GetItRight4aChange If this is a "conservative" position than I guess Reagan must have been a socialist too because he put money into Social Security and saved it from the brink of extinction by "bailing it out" to the tune of $165 billion! It dramatically increased payroll taxes on employees and employers, brought a whole new class of recipients--new federal workers--into the system, and, for the first time, taxed Social Security benefits.
The Netherlands is a prime example of how bad this can become there after you have reached a certain age they will not give you any more health care in Canada you have to wait for some bureacrat to decide if you need medecine my friend broke his leg in holland and it didn't qualifie him to see a doctor
but wait till you have cancer my friend, because you might find that if the insurance companies can find anyway to prove that that you wont recover or that it wont 100% work they will deem it NOT MEDICALLY NECESSARY in order to save money at the expense of your life.
THERE ARE BUREAUCRATS AND DEATH PANELS IN AMERICA WHO FUCKING ADMIT TO DOING IT FOR THE SAKE OF SAVING MONEY
With all due respect, please start watching PBS news, the ONLY fair and balanced news program. Scare tactics and misinformation are driving this country to the bottom quickly.
@pingpongpress Health insurance is an illusion. In reality, it is a means by whichand drug companies monopolize their power. It dictates the use of prescription drugs and nothing else. When a person has health insurance" they must, by default, choose prescription drugs. This is the only way their investment can be returned. Therefore, most will never question doctor's orders or seek alternatives; they will simply swallow the pill that makes them ill. Having health insurance eliminates choice
Problem is the insurance companies are a monopoly and our government is allowing them to run there business illegally.... I guess lobbyists always win in Washington .... Universal health care works in every other industrialized nation... YES it's not perfect but it beats the hell out of our system when you consider the number one cause of bankruptcy in our nation is from medical bills..... Insurance companies do NOT BELONG in health care.... There just a middle man leaching money ....
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I agree I think the poor should just accept the fact that life is not fair. If you can't pay the thousands of dollars a year to cover your family then you should just suffer. Good medical care is only for those who can afford to pay. Liberty dictates that I should not have to pay for folks who cant afford. I say screw all you fatties, smokers, genetic abnormalities, asbestos, black lung losers to just die early. I will continue to pay my $600 per month for $5K deductible. RR u stupid fuck!
do people think that Adolf fucking Hitler is going to rise from his grave and kill all the jews if we decide to pass socialized medicine??
If anyone is like Hitler its these republicans with their propaganda campaigns... OOooOoh Spoooky socialized medicine.. OooOh.. so you'll have to pay $20 more on your taxes to pay for it,.... OooOh ... grab your fucking balls and show some charity and compassion for others..
OMG, Socialism is, like, so scary, especially Socialized Medicine, like, OMG, just look at the mass graves in, like, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy, all because those Socialists got their foot in the door with Socialized Medicine, like, OMG. Like, OMG, what do you mean those countries have national debts lower than the USA, that's just Socialist propaganda. Socialize Medicine obviously kills people because it's Socialism.
The best part about this speech is the fact that Ronald Reagan was a Democrat when he made it! Like him or hate him, at least he is speaking the historical truth in this clip.
It is sad to see so many Americans today, put aside any sense of personal responsibility to instead demand handouts! The sooner you realize that no one "owes" you anything, the sooner you will push yourself to truly become a better person and self sufficient member of society.
What about people who have jobs and pay taxes and pay for their health care, yet get deinied when they need it?? how about them, because last year that was 12,000,000 people...
please i would like to hear your answer to this...
You mean Ronald Reagan the B movie actor ..Ronald Reagan the The Teflon President. Ronald Reagan the guy who had the illegal war with Nicaraguan
.Ronald Reagan the guy who said "no to drugs" which is all he did while his vice Pres Bush and the CIA made deals with the drug dealing Noriega making him the first super drug dealer which helped bankroll the CIA and bring a wave of illegal drugs to our Nation
Wow. What a drone you are. Still parroting all that liberal shit from the 80's? If you want to bitch about a war - why not bitch about the current one? Or is that off limits because there's a liberal in the oval office? There has never been such staggering, blatant corruption as severe as what vomits forth from Washington today. Reagan despised Socialism and defeated it - and that's why he's so hated by liberals.
If i'm not mistaken it takes a majority vote in the senate to go to war, and the senate in 2002 was majority republican.. that says a lot without saying much
So when Clinton was Prez - it was the evil republican congress at fault, but not the fault of the liberal congress when Bush was in office? That's the point - EVERYONE knew the danger of Saddam and the Taliban. They, all had the same intelligence, including foreign nations' intelligence. Pelosi & friends want to pretend they were 'tricked' - which is preposterous. Clinton had the chance and failed. Bush got the job done - period. Thank God Kerry wasn't in the White house. YIKES!
Yeah, until the second term, when Congress started hemorrhaging republican seats.
Nancy Pelosi, crazy liberal Speaker of the House, probably counts as 10 seats - lol.
Anyway, blaming Bush for the war, is a very glib interpretation. There were many things and many people involved. And Bush wasn't the 'big liar' who 'tricked' Nancy and company. By the way, we're still at war - has anyone seen a war protest? Guess it's ok when it's 'Obama's war'.
Bush wasn't intelligent enough to trick anyone.. I didnt say specifically that this was Bush's war, this is the republican party's war, they are responsible for getting us into this war.
And obama has been rapidly removing troops from iraq since he got into office.
Bush given false information, and his gullable mind went along with it.
I am a fiscally conservative socially liberal person and I give bush a lot more credit than most people I know, but he messed up big time..
katrina was bush's fault. as was gobal warming, and the cold war, and vietnam, and the crusifiction and the great flood, and the big bang, and the fall of lucifer and final fantasy X, and ET, and stargate, and every fox channel show that has failed. bush caused them all.
Clinton didnt get us in the first iraq war, he got us out.. It was the first Bush that got us into the first war with iraq as well..
Its no suprise that both men were linked to Halliburton, and numerous other companies that were interested in monopolizing middle eastern oil specifically that which lies in iraq, the only country that we hadn't gotten our greedy hands on.
How about let's keep the healthy skepticism about All of our leaders on the left and the right - but place the ultimate blame squarely where it truly belongs - on the maniacs in the middle East who want us all to die and feel they have a mandate from God to make us to die. Who also want us to believe that America is 'Greedy' and 'Sinful'. They don't think we're evil because of oil - France and Germany buy more oil from them than we do. They hate us because we're 'infidels'.
The Republicans are 100% in favor of big government and socialism, only instead of government for the people they want government for the rich and the corporations. So the Republican big govenment transfers wealth from the poor and middle class to the wealthy. They give billions of dollars in subsidies and tax breaks to big business. And some of the biggest recipients of taxpayer money are the drug and health insurance companies.
article 1, section 8 of the US constitution - Section 8. The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States;
Oh shit, you don't think they might mean healthcare, do you? Guess the Founders were socialists too. I'm going to hang myself because I can feel my FOXNews world crumbling.
And, as Caption said, Congress would (initially) be in charge of our healthcare and our deaths of course...and our medical secrets, of course. But that is only at the start-Congress is still somewhat accountable--so the REAL life and death decisions will be put under an unaccountable "Czar" and his committee, where the secret deeds will be done and our lives will become a beureaucratic decision beyond our appeal or knowledge carried on from administration to administration. Obama fascism.
I don't want the government in between me and my doctor. I want the accountant at the insurance company in between me and my doctor. Repeal medicare and social security. Damn those socialist programs. Better yet get rid of the FDA, USDA, FBI, NSA, the U.S. Armed Forces. Get rid of everything the Government provides to us. It's all socialism.
Other countries with socialized medicine (like Canada and most countries in Europe) have significantly lower costs, higher average life expectancy, and lower infant mortality (and they can still choose their own doctor).
The private insurance I have now limits my choice of doctor and millions of dollars go to pay their CEOs. How is that better?
What's wrong? everything. Government run entities are not nearly as well-run as private businesses. That's why tons of people prefer shipping packages with UPS or FedEx instead of USPS.
Other countries have humongous tax rates. In France 63 cents of every dollar you make is taxes. If you take out murders and car accidents, the avg life in America is higher than those. And cancer survival rates are significantly higher in the US.
Reform is needed but a universal system is not the answer.
I don't think it's any better, frankly, from what I understand, it will be like going from the frying pan into the fire, but, hey, show me your statistics, websites or books. I'm open, I'm trying to find out, but I need facts and real sources, not general opinions.
This is not the place to beg for an education. If you have the passion to learn how the world really works, then do it yourself, but the simple fact is that the American people have not been faced with this decision only once. It has never been, and never will, be the best decision for America. Other countries can have socialized medicine, and they will pay for it. America should not. The fundamental distinction between our country and these other countries is also simple: Our country is free.
This should be seen by WAY over 850 folks. Sure hope Hannity puts entire sound track on his TV show, I've heard it already on Rush and Hannity. But go ahead, stoned ozone or whatever: I was like you repeating every liberal lie that was in the air in Vietnam / Roe V. Wade era, when big 3 news and AP, UPI were king. So I'd have believed you that "life expectancy higher in Brittain, most other socialized Med. Countries." But, NOW, New Media has pointed out those UN stats include war deaths, murders
Can we go to court if we have been medically harmed if the government is the defendant? The Republicans have tried to initiate tort reform to bring insurance costs in line. We will have no say in our medical care. Millions of dollars are going now to pay for the prestigious lifestyles of Congressmen Pelosi, Frank, etc. Hey, what's another few multi-million dollar jets to us poor taxpayers? Plenty!! What do you think you'll have to say about it once the government has assumed total control?
I'm sorry I could not take any further than 7:43. Bleh. Bye idiot.

And It's a hard decision to make, but the people who work hard their whole life have rights to medicine more than the people who fart their way through school and don't work at all. Letting someone die is a horrible, horrible choice, but they brought it on themselves.
Jiyanamiki 1 year ago
@Jiyanamiki
i live in a country with socialized medicine, the UK.
i wont go into politics to deeply with you because i understand you might not understand but basically the sponsors of the news channels that lie about socialized healthcare are healthcare companies, so obviously the news channel has to protect its sponsor and income.
everything they make up about socialized medicine is complete bullshit.
common humanity is more important then money and protecting greed.
colour749 1 year ago
@colour749 No, the thing is, Republicans say such scary things that the ultimate belief is that we say those things to scare people. The truth is, they never made any of that stuff up. It's completely true. Things that RR warned us about dozens of years ago are happening now, every single day. But back them, people called him an idiot for believing that that stuff would actually happen.
Jiyanamiki 1 year ago
@Jiyanamiki
oh my fucking god you dont even live in a country with socialized healthcare so how the fuck would you know anything.
every country has a different system and the one here in the UK is absolutely perfect.
ive had 2 operations and waited a week for each of them.
i had to wait 24 hours to get braces.
there is no way of the nation getting in debt because theres a seperate tax.
and we continue to be americas closest friend 62 years after getting this system and didnt become north korea
colour749 1 year ago
@colour749 I had to get the operation immediately. Again, I would've died. Our system allows people medicine depending on how hard they've worked their whole entire life. Other systems allow you to live or die depending on how you can contribute to society.
Jiyanamiki 1 year ago
@Jiyanamiki
so yours is effectively fascist in working.
you judge people for having less green paper then you for one reason or another and therefore its ok for them to die.
i wonder why theres so much murder and shootings in america it appears you have lost the concept of the common human good
colour749 1 year ago
@colour749 Your health care leaves people to die if they can't contribute to society enough. Oh, and in America, you can go to the hospital and say "I'm sick, I need medicine" and whether you can pay for it or not, they have to treat you. You'll just be in debt. "theres so much murder and shootings in america" where did you get that from? We have very low crime rates compared to some other countries. And the place where you were born has nothing to do with goodness of heart.
Jiyanamiki 1 year ago
@Jiyanamiki
LOL you just made up that part about people being left to die, EVERYONE IS TREATED FOR FREE EVEN IF THEY REFUSE TO PAY TAX, JUST KILLED A POLICEMAN, TRIED TO KILL THE HOSPITAL STAFF, EVEN ADOLF HITLER WOULD GET TREATMENT FOR FUCKS SAKE.
america has 11,000 GUN DEATHS A YEAR and on average in the UK we have 50
colour749 1 year ago
@colour749 I didn't make it up, and I could say the same thing about you-saying I only like people because of their money. You have to get treated whether you can pay for it or not, and it's much quicker than in the UK. You seem to be under the impression that I hate Britian, but I LOVE British people, okay? I just don't like the Health Care there.(c)
Jiyanamiki 1 year ago
you have never experienced our healthcare system, i have.
your opinions on our system were made up ON THE SPOT by healthcare payroll politicians such as John Mccain and biased news presenters such as Glenn Beck.
OUR SYSTEM WORKS BETTER THEN YOURS, WE ARE 19th IN THE WORLD YOU ARE 37th, YOUR HEALTHCARE IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE IN THE WORLD OURS ISNT EVEN IN THE TOP 10.
the stuff about people getting refused treatment and long waiting times is bullshit but does happen in america but never here
colour749 1 year ago
@colour749 You've never experienced my Health Care system. How could you possibly call me ignorant when you're in the same position as I am? And actually, I've never listened to McCain or Glenn Beck preach about Health Care. What are their views, again...?
And who is that rated by? Socialists like you? Because "better" is an opinion, and my opinion is that my Health Care is one of the best.
And how does it happen in America but never there?
Jiyanamiki 1 year ago
@Jiyanamiki
we also have a private system like yours and it was our only option before the NHS thats how know
and please shut the fuck up if your going to try and insult me by calling me a socialist asif thats a bad thing, when yes i am a socialist.
but you dont know what one is
colour749 1 year ago
@colour749 (c)That's because you don't have any guns. How can you possibly have gun deaths if you don't have any guns? There over 307 MILLION people in America, leaving the people who die in gun deaths in America in a year at .0036%. Then there's the few people who commit suicide with guns, shoot someone/thereselves by accident, and a few other reasons, leaving the people who shoot people because of their corrupt morality WELL UNDER .0036%.
Jiyanamiki 1 year ago
@Jiyanamiki
haha see your wrong because plenty of people own guns and ownership was far higher in the past and the gun deaths were still low.
why? not because all guns were outlawed its because we had a rigorous system like america does.
a mentally ill person can easily get hold of a firearm in america, people can easily get hold of one underage etc.
whats so wrong with a tighter system if it saves thousands of lives ???
colour749 1 year ago
The uk and canada have health care, in fact all western nations exept for the USA has health care and we are not soicalist states. Our one payer system allows us just as much freedom to choose as the USA incurence company. As long as the doctor thinks you need it and its cover you get it up here, no worring about how you are going to pay for it, no fighting with the insurence companys, no getting turn away because you cant pay. But if you want to make the insurence companys rich go right ahead.

I guarantee they would not.. even if they are against this law.
gypsydarklady 1 year ago
@gypsydarklady This is the conservative position and Reagan was a conservative. The AMA is behind Obama and national health care, so did they change their mind, or did Obama buy them? Your comments about people on Medicare only prove how addicting "dependence" is--all the more reason to oppose socialized medicine from the outset.
GetItRight4aChange 1 year ago
@GetItRight4aChange If this is a "conservative" position than I guess Reagan must have been a socialist too because he put money into Social Security and saved it from the brink of extinction by "bailing it out" to the tune of $165 billion! It dramatically increased payroll taxes on employees and employers, brought a whole new class of recipients--new federal workers--into the system, and, for the first time, taxed Social Security benefits.

Reaganesque Right-Wing Propaganda
Current debate should not really be about Health Care Reform but on Health Insurance Reform
pingpongpress 2 years ago
@pingpongpress Health insurance is an illusion. In reality, it is a means by whichand drug companies monopolize their power. It dictates the use of prescription drugs and nothing else. When a person has health insurance" they must, by default, choose prescription drugs. This is the only way their investment can be returned. Therefore, most will never question doctor's orders or seek alternatives; they will simply swallow the pill that makes them ill. Having health insurance eliminates choice
finefilth 1 year ago
Problem is the insurance companies are a monopoly and our government is allowing them to run there business illegally.... I guess lobbyists always win in Washington .... Universal health care works in every other industrialized nation... YES it's not perfect but it beats the hell out of our system when you consider the number one cause of bankruptcy in our nation is from medical bills..... Insurance companies do NOT BELONG in health care.... There just a middle man leaching money ....

Respectfully,
Johnnie Walker

So when Clinton was Prez - it was the evil republican congress at fault, but not the fault of the liberal congress when Bush was in office? That's the point - EVERYONE knew the danger of Saddam and the Taliban. They, all had the same intelligence, including foreign nations' intelligence. Pelosi & friends want to pretend they were 'tricked' - which is preposterous. Clinton had the chance and failed. Bush got the job done - period. Thank God Kerry wasn't in the White house. YIKES!

Bush wasn't intelligent enough to trick anyone.. I didnt say specifically that this was Bush's war, this is the republican party's war, they are responsible for getting us into this war.
And obama has been rapidly removing troops from iraq since he got into office.

What's wrong with socialized medicine?
Other countries with socialized medicine (like Canada and most countries in Europe) have significantly lower costs, higher average life expectancy, and lower infant mortality (and they can still choose their own doctor).
The private insurance I have now limits my choice of doctor and millions of dollars go to pay their CEOs. How is that better?
OzStone 2 years ago
What's wrong? everything. Government run entities are not nearly as well-run as private businesses. That's why tons of people prefer shipping packages with UPS or FedEx instead of USPS.
Other countries have humongous tax rates. In France 63 cents of every dollar you make is taxes. If you take out murders and car accidents, the avg life in America is higher than those. And cancer survival rates are significantly higher in the US.
Reform is needed but a universal system is not the answer.

Plenty!!
