When I was only a toddler, I had a deadly infection near my Jugular vein in my neck. I was getting dehidrated, running high fevers, and passing out. I almost died. My parents were hard working people who had struggled their whole entire life, but rose to success with effort. They could afford the medicine to cure me. The uk and canada have health care, in fact all western nations exept for the USA has health care and we are not soicalist states. Our one payer system allows us just as much freedom to choose as the USA incurence company. What's wrong with socialized medicine?

Other countries with socialized medicine (like Canada and most countries in Europe) have significantly lower costs, higher average life expectancy, and lower infant mortality (and they can still choose their own doctor).

The private insurance I have now limits my choice of doctor and millions of dollars go to pay their CEOs. How is that better?

What's wrong? everything. Government run entities are not nearly as well-run as private businesses. That's why tons of people prefer shipping packages with UPS or FedEx instead of USPS.

Other countries have humongous tax rates. In France 63 cents of every dollar you make is taxes. If you take out murders and car accidents, the avg life in America is higher than those. And cancer survival rates are significantly higher in the US.

Reform is needed but a universal system is not the answer.

This is not the place to beg for an education. If you have the passion to learn how the world really works, then do it yourself, but the simple fact is that the American people have not been faced with this decision only once. It has never been, and never will, be the best decision for America. Other countries can have socialized medicine, and they will pay for it. America should not. The fundamental distinction between our country and these other countries is also simple: Our country is free.

Can we go to court if we have been medically harmed if the government is the defendant? The Republicans have tried to initiate tort reform to bring insurance costs in line. We will have no say in our medical care. Millions of dollars are going now to pay for the prestigious lifestyles of Congressmen Pelosi, Frank, etc. Hey, what's another few multi-million dollar jets to us poor taxpayers? Plenty!!
