Most of them didn't have the money or the resources to get out on a days notice. To say that in hind sight is easy but there are hurricanes all the time in NO. you people are dupped. i am from right outside new orleans and i seen the levee concrete walls that were pushed back from water & allmost broken throuth all over new orleans and metairie.I worked there. Many of these people were not stupid, just far too poor to make escape their situation.

How are you going to blame the goverment..The people were gave a warning to get out 5 days before it hit.. They didn't leave I feel sorry for them but damn why would you stay there you know it was going to be bad there. Yeah the gov. didn't do the best job but hell take some action on your own and get out.. Look what happen this time they left and they are alive its not that hard.. I don't mean to sound like a jerk or anything that jmo
because , THEY HAD NO WHERE TO GO! how to you tell so one to get out and not provide them no where to go. look up the Gretna police, they would not allow the Katrina victims to cross the bridge into Mississippi
they had shuttle bus going in and out getting people out of there.. so don't give me that they had no where to go. they had plenty of time to get out.
are you serious? dude...go where? do you realize how expensive it is to evacuate a city? what if you don't have a car? or a big family? answer these questions for me on a very limited budget..then I will respect your opinion..but of course..you're just some surbanite, right?

@stkkiller8 i know what you mean and it sounds so easy but believe it or not some people had no where to go. I know that is hard to believe but some people really had no where to go. its so sad :(
i do feel like if i was in that situation that i wouldn't see it as being that easy.
@stkkiller8 You're absolutely right .... most of these people had tons of resources to be able to vacate at the drop of a dime. What's wrong with them??? They're so stupid!!! They were born with silver spoons in their mouths and living in the lap of luxury and definitely should've been able to evacuate ............ due to your somewhat ignorant and delusional comment, I think I should take the time and inform you that I'm being sarcastic, in case you didn't know.
@stkkiller8 Why is this comment up here rather than burried? Thumbs down this comment! Anyone go to nhc.noaa.gov KATRINA Graphics Archive will see 5 days out trina was to hit east of pcola, not till 3 days out did it shift to barely include orleans. Winds 5 days out were 35mph with slim chance of cat 2 at greatest. It was not till Thursday afternoon the path shift to Norleans and look to be a cat 2 or greater, that is only 3 and one half days of warning. This was short notice!
@ZipOnOver Not true at all. We were talking about the possiblity of this one being the big one on Friday & it hit on Monday & the people I was talking with already knew about it for a day or two. It was a Cat 5 on Sunday & dropped to a Cat 3 that night. It was also headed STRAIGHT to NOLA, then shifted East toward MS Gulf Coast. They were giving us SEVERE warnings, saying this could be the end of NOLA & the Gulf Coast all weekend. There were more severe warnings on Katrina than ever.
@5anelso The weather channel was telling everyone how deadly and dangerous this thing was around 5 days in advance. category 5, 165 mph winds, gusting over 200mph, moving north, perfectly circular, 90 degree waters lying ahead. they compared it to camille. city is under sea level. the levees were weak. this was the perfect storm and warnings were FAR in advance.
@5anelso Not true. I was there too and we were beihng warned by at least the Friday before, though people were talking about it before that. By Saturday, they were issuing SEVERE warnings. There were PSAs BEGGING people to take it seriously because it might be the worst natural disaster in US history & could potentially bury NOLA. I heard that on the radio & TV with my own ears.
I'm telling people to get organized and to take action against the top leaders of the wrecking of the constitution and the country. Action means removing them from their cozy lives.
@EndeavorFreedom And its happening, more and more we are becoming a Police state.Recently I heard that 3 states have already made it a Felony to film police while on duty, and 12 more are in the process of doing so.Why,because too many cops are being caught in the act of brutality. They want us to see just enough to create Civil unrest but not enough to get important people involved.
Its just a matter of time;what do we do.I feel for the first ones that come to my home.
Y did it repeat again??

I was in Katrina, and we were given a warning to get out the day of the hurricane.

@scumgod13 That's bullshit..... In no state is a felony or nisdemeanor to film police while on duty as long as they are in a public location
