The Tenth Amendment allows secession and was put in for the specific purpose of satisfying the states because they wanted something that would allow them to leave the union whenever they wanted. and the war was not about slavery

In Pollard's "Southern History of the Civil War (1865) we see it was well known most of the soldiers deserted. Johnston and Beuregard told Davis that virtually ALL enlisted men deserted. Thet Confederate War Department said 2/3 deserted.

Why are we called the United States of America?It is because everyone was more loyal to their State(which meant nation back then) than to a Central Government. We are meant to be more like a EU(sort of),a bunch of nations under one flag. That is why our name isn't just simply America! The South were being bullied in Congress by people who just wanted to secure the cotton funds for their state and impose their will on the larger plantation states. They separated peacefully and asked to be let be.

the founding fathers never wanted a perpetual union that is why they ditched the articles of confederation they wanted a system where the states were soverign bodies. The Tenth Amendment allows secession and was put in for the specific purpose of satisfying the states because they wanted something that would allow them to leave the union whenever they wanted. and the war was not about slavery
