  • whats the program that stretches it? is it an filter in audio mulch? or is he talking about audio mulch itself?

  • what software does he use to produce this?

  • bl0tt0420 said on May 17, 2011

Girl talk uses CoolEdit to sample the music(This can be done with Audacity for free) Then he uses Audiomulch to make the mixes. I have been messing around with it too, and it is a lot harder than you’d think.

  • SHITE!

  • What program is he using??

  • Fuck Macs.

  • ITS EASY... YOU JUST HAVE TO TRY IT EVERIDAY

  • doesnt look that hard...

  • Anyone know the laptop make/model he's using?

  • that just proved that pc's are better then mac's

  • @flyflipper8 no

  • @T2pRulz yes

  • @flyflipper8

    Nah i think your wrong

  • I heard this exact song at Popped Fest tonight!!!

  • @wicked505juggalo wow, I guess you showed me.

  • he is so rude that girl is trying to sleep.

  • @DylanCrane bitch dont like it she can get the fuck out! she lucky he let her stay that long

  • @DylanCrane rofl, they're making the point that its not only "lazy/easy" but also has incredibly creative aspects, hes making the point that all art builds upon the past

  • @wicked505juggalo wow, you're the very symbol of a loudmouth teenager who needs a kick in the throat.

  • What program is he using?????

  • @Blacknbl00d adobe audition

  • @jeffbakr thank u

  • there is seriously no fucking benefit to using macs for anything with music, i'm sick of this misconception, okay yeah they come with garageband, so the fuck what, there are way better prorgams.

  • @Cornbreadddd: You're dumb. The end.

  • Here is the real scoop. There really is not a lot of difference between Macs and PCs NOW. Now for for many years there was. Macs were and still are FAR less likely to randomly crash and still are far less likely to get idiot viruses. That is why in the PROFESSIONAL studios around the world Macs are preferred. For Home or Project studios where time does not +money it does not make much difference. Macs were designed to do music, graphics, etc. PCs were designed to do Spreadsheets, word processing

  • lmao how is that girl sleeping

  • what programs is he using to create his mashups?

  • @mrfreshpro The only one I'm POSITIVE on is that he uses Audiomulch. Not sure if he still uses it today, but back when he was doing his glitchy shit, he definitely did.

  • @mrfreshpro adobe audition

  • if you are a talented person, even with a Coleco you can make music! if not, well... thats why dj software companies make lot of money, because 98% of their users are talentless persons

  • @andaldana I agree with you. I just logged on because I am currently watching a documentary called RIP- A Remix Manifesto. I am disgusted because these bozos call themselves DJs. They are not spinning discs, just using software. THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE ANY TALENT AT ALL. These so called Girl Talk crowds are so lame. Real Djs around the world are being slapped in the face.

  • @VladTepes2002

well if you don't need talent at all. why don't you try it yourself.

A little challenge just to proof your right. ;-)

You can take legal music from site's like ''ccmixter.org'' so you don't need to worry about copyright.

What you think? Gonna take the challenge?

  • @kikkerkozen For your information. I don't need to lower myself and try something that is so practical. I am a real Dj that mix by ear. Using programs is not an art. It is a mediocre way of presenting something that already exists, without any mixing talent. I have programs to mix and mashup music and have tried them out. Let me tell you, I can make some awsome-sounding mixes but prefer to mix from the heart and with my talent, not a software program. I respect your views, so enjoy what U like.

  • @VladTepes2002 ... you best be trollin' seriously man mix with your heart??? so because you use an actual disk you suddenly give the music soul, where as (I'm a controllerist) if I take two (or more) great tracks that I purely love and play with them however I want and create something new out of something old using new and old technology's to create a mind blowing track are you saying what I have just made doesn't have heart because I used a computer to let me do all those crazy things???????

  • @wongaling It's not true mixing when it is not done live. You cannot call yourself a DJ. Anyone with little computer skills can make a mash-up mix, but not all mash-up controllers can play live and sound good. I think that the fact that these mash-ups are created is kind of cool, but don't call them DJs because they truly cannot DJ. Now tell me, if you sample guitar riffs does that put you side by side with the best guitarists? I don't think so. So stop calling button pushers Djs. Thank you!

  • @VladTepes2002 I agree with you if all you do is press play on a pre-recorded set and just jump around I don't believe that is DJing but if Someone is creating, mixing, sampling and what ever else live and is enjoying and loving what they do then that if full hearted mixing. and the Guitar riff argument is completely irrelevant in this they are two different arts and cannot be compared, I've been playing guitar for some time now and mixing tracks and making them is very different. TBC

  • @wongaling Nice reply and the most intelligent one. Peace brother!

  • @VladTepes2002 No worries man.

  • Respond to this video... Continued: Just because CDJ's are being left behind like a slutty ex girlfriend and you are yet to grasp the true power of a computer don't start knocking something you (from the looks of it) know very little about. p.s. Don't take this as Me knocking CDJ's / Vinyl

  • @andaldana Painfully incorrect, Digital DJing is massively easier to get into now due to the huge price drop, but even though it brings in a whole bunch of shit DJ's it opens up the playing field now DJ's can do things no one ever thought of, like modulating an LFO with a Wii controller. And the talent is still there, the only thing Software does is Syncing and how much of a skill is it if a computer can do it with a press of a button, Traktor or serato don't say which tracks to mix TBC

  • All they do is keep them in time which alot of people don't use the free time to do anything new but for the people that are pushing boundaries the free time and power that is gained by using a laptop is incredible. now you can either be a moron and Say exactly what Vinyl turntablists said about CDJ's about Digital Mixing or you can be someone who believes that pushing the limits of music is worth more than "it's not real DJing" So if you want to be a knob try keep DJing in the past TBC

  • then you can watch in awe as Digital mixing takes over CDJ's or you can accept the change and be open about the endless possibilities of new and better tools for DJ's to play with.

  • Mac just makes making beats easy.

PC applications like FL Studio have a much steeper learning curve but give the user much more freedom.

It's like training a person to sing vs. autotune.

  • That girl is always sleepy.

  • this guys a fucking beast

  • Excuse my ignorance but what program is he using?

  • @rob5000x1 adobe audition is where he cuts up the waves then i think audio mulch not sure

  • @djkevinc thank you! ive been trying to do mashups, check my latest upload and tell me where i can improve :D

  • he looks so normal here... how times have changed.

  • One of my "10 must-see" Girl Talk videos for the San Antonio Express-News.

  • @independentjames1 hahahaha

  • @independentjames1 Why are you watching Girl Talk videos?

  • @NateBiggity /had to make sure its as crap as I thought it would be.And its worse than I thought

  • @independentjames1 I'd like to see those who write his own music do what he does. Oh yeah, they can't. Artists don't write their own lyrics, someone else does and the artist just sings it. Usually they don't even make the beat themselves. However Girl Talk has to listen to each track, pick the bits he needs and seamlessly put it with another beat and make it sound good. He has to plan every bit of his songs. What he does takes way more talent then what a simple singer does.

  • @dhruve4c I already do it (but I do post audio sound for film, music, and TV)you gerble dick,Im a certified audio engineer,Do what he does?Sit on his dirty bed with a PC?What a fag.By the way if he's using samples they are NOT his songs.Ummm and more talent>?I didnt know he could read and write music.Your such a looser.Cant wait till he comes to Toronto so we can mash him

  • @independentjames1

Why don't you try making some mashups and see how talented you are at it? Stop being so close minded as too what music is.

  • @ShoeOfFlight ,Bla bla bla bla.I already know how to write, record and edit my OWN music, its about who owns the right to the music. Those who cant write RIP off.

  • @independentjames1 The Beatles took bass lines from Chuck Berry, Led Zeppelin took numerous guitar riffs from blues musicians, Journey took chord progressions from The Beatles.

  • @ShoeOfFlight yep thats right, and Zep was sued for it,

  • I think he was sued but he won and set a precedence but I might be wrong

  • What program is he using?

  • I love the sleeping girl in the background. It's so casual

  • frhsfootball08, right on man, that's why he hasn't been sued for copyright infringement.

  • @lostmypick03 No, he hasn't been sued for copyright infringement because what he does falls under the 'fair use' agreement

  • what software/program is used in this?

  • @shannonc389 Audiomulch and Adobe audition

  • what program is he using?

  • what program is he using?

  • trololol @koenhead is fool. Gillis is pretty well recognized in his own right and maybe you should try learning to do what he does. Plus there 1000s of musicians now using only synths, laptops, you're saying you are better than every one of them cos you learnt traditional instruments.

  • lol koenhead is a fucking idiot

  • @KoenHead you're so dumb for thinking Girl Talk started in "circa 2011". I can't wait until 2014 when you learn about Odd Future. Talk to you then? and I don't even want to mention that you asked if Girl Talk was his real name, because I pray to the atheist god that I do or do not believe in that you were joking.

  • @KoenHead you're so dumb for thinking Girl Talk started in "circa 2011". I can't wait until 2014 when you learn about Odd Future. Talk to you then?

  • Any real musician would be flattered that another was using them in their work and people were liking it.

  • Yo, Girl Talk, if that IS your real name, F*ck You for killing music, circa 2011. You take good music and sh*t on it. That's ALL you do. I see that you are coming to Kansas for a gig soon. Just stay out of neighboring Missouri or we will chase you outta here with torches and pitchforks....or worse. No, but really, it is f*cking horrible how you are destroying good music, which is what ALL DJ's do. I guess if you can't MAKE any actual music, ya might as well STEAL it............

  • @KoenHead Right.. because every artist YOU must listen to is completely original and never created anything that remotely sounded ANYTHING like anyone else. Dude, get the hell over it. Just because this isn't a string and drum creating sound doesn't mean it's not music. Girl Talk, along with other mashup artists, create something (relatively) new from something old. They take two contrasting sounds and create one fluid, smooth, and amazing sound. How do you think rock and roll started?

  • @KoenHead And after watching another Girl Talk video and saw your comments, you really are a clueless old fool. The only difference between what Girl Talk does and what you do at your monthly jam sessions is the medium. He uses a computer and digital tracks. You use a guitar and keyboard. His computer IS his instrument. He presses buttons to create music. Kinda like you on a keyboard. It's okay if you don't like or enjoy his music. You're absolutely, 100% wrong on everything else, though.

  • @brandnewsxs "Clueless old fool??" You believe that stealing other peoples music and shitting it back out of a laptop is somehow creating music. That's an insult to ANYONE who ever took the time to learn how to learn an instrument that makes actual music with a modicum of skill and perseverance. But if you believe that 'sampling' another artist's work and literally disrespecting it's original intention is entertaining, I guess I will just stay clueless, then. Better that then deluded.

  • @KoenHead So you've never done a cover? You've never used a guitar riff? You've created only original music in your lifetime? The only fact you've stated is that Girl Talk uses other artists' creations. Everything else is opinion. As I said, his instrument IS his computer. And he's damn good with it. Reply to my entire response, too, by the way. You seemed to have ignored a large portion of my argument. Probably because I'm right.

  • @brandnewsxs Look, let's just stop, OK?? You simply don't get it. Yeah, I have played covers, but the key word is PLAYED. I had to learn the chords, lyrics, etc. I suppose I should have just spent less time with all of those piano and guitar lessons growing up when, silly me, I could have just stolen my favorite songs outright, hacked them all to Hell and called it a "mashup" and people would call me a genius instead of a criminal. So what that Girl Talk is good with a laptop? It's still fake!

  • Um.. how please? lol

  • Girltalk is a baller

  • if girl talk is there and his girlfriend is in the bed then who was camera???

  • Makes is look too easy quality mash ups....

Can anyone help with this i have used the same timing as girl talk has 0.25/0.125/0.25/0.125 and the same sample the beat sounds disimilar to his is there anybody else found this or could anyone help does anybody know the timing of spacing or is the 4 timings above wrong anyone experimented cheers?

  • MICE.

  • you know greg, there's some new devices in the digital market called MOUSES...

i think you would like to have one of those!

  • this guy is making windows look pretty good for using it as a musical tool.

  • @phantomrider78

they need to do a promo with him

"if girl talk can make sick fucking songs on a pc , fuck mac"

  • @phantomrider78 It is a good musical tool. It doesn't really matter anymore which platform you use because there are similar apps on both.

  • he's making next level beats with his pc computerr

  • @Bcasey11 Drop tha mothafuckin beatbox dawg...

  • @Bcasey11 he lives with his granny down the road

  • @Bcasey11 macs didnt start getting big until 08/09... but yea. personally, i prefer pc anyhow

  • @marlo916 I don't want to start a flame war because I still use Windoze for certain things too, but musicians, artists, and filmmakers have been using Macs all along. In fact, if you wanted to use Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, Avid or any of those things, they used to be Mac only (or Atari), for a long time. Macs just weren't popular for business and gaming, they have always been artists computers.

  • @codecxo You dont NEED a mac to create quality beats. Real talent isnt bound by Operating systems.

  • @skateboarderlucc You dont NEED a computer to create music. Real talent isnt bound by computers that do all the playing. (You see what I did there?)

  • @kamikrazi123 Yes, you conjured a response which I find quite shallow and pedantic.

  • @skateboarderlucc I find this music quite shallow and pedantic. (Srsly, no troll).

  • @kamikrazi123

    Playing =/= creating. GTFO purist.

  • @kgoo867 yup keep going to concerts where all the artist will do is hit a play button on a computer. That sure is celebrating the spirit live music by doing something you could do at home with an ipod.

  • @kamikrazi123

Still has nothing to do with what is considered "talent" and how fucking ignorant you are. Stay on topic. Stop dodging and stop making straw man arguments.

  • @kgoo867 Right-- so composing a symphony with multiple voices and movements for all orchestral sections is equivalent to chopping samples of music (which already has its musical value inherently due to the original composer) and organizing it to play in a loop track. You fucking hipsters... The music may sound nice but you have balls to say that using Adobe Audition and Audiomulch is the same as creating music. GTFO.

  • @kamikrazi123

Never said anything was "equivalent". Don't put words in my mouth. Straw man. Stop on topic.

  • YOU FUCKIN EQUATED CREATING WITH TALEN YOU STUPID FUCK (oh shit he thinks he has forensic skills cuz he heard "straw man" argument in Intro to Speech, lol what a dumbass)

  • @kamikrazi123

Except I didn't. I said that playing and creating are not the same thing, and that what is considered "talent" has nothing to do with your ignorance. That's all I said. PERIOD. Don't put words in my mouth, kid. Again, you're creating a point that I didn't make and attacking it. Stay on topic.

Stop making straw man arguments and I'll stop using that phrase. Simple concept.

  • @kgoo867 I made the argument that creating music via Audiomulch and Audition in a computer isn't dignified as a musical talent, yes? You are claiming it did by making an argument "playing=/= creating" then just saying "STRAWMAN ARGUMENT!" over and over with no subsistence to any logical connection to a rebuttal so SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU BUTT HURT PSEUDO-INTELLECTUAL FUCKING HIPSTER.

  • @kamikrazi123 debate for the win

  • @skateboarderlucc I never said "You NEED a mac to create quality beats." I started with hardware, real drums, Fruity Loops, ACID and Cool Edit. I just said that the Mac has been the preference for artists (painters, sculptors, musicians etc), ever since Amiga died. The artistic temperament is reflected in the OS. It is however, unnecessary for creative work. I was responding to a diss.

I can make beats with anything, including your skateboard and your mom's juicy booty.

  • @codecxo

Except when I was doing 3d animation. I bought PC's for the hardware power to reduce render times for MUCH cheaper. Like $4k cheaper.

  • @Bcasey11

    die antwoord?

  • @Bcasey11 fuck yes

  • That's his ol lady in the background, this is just a clip from the film RiP, and all u fuckin doushebags hatin on the cat are just that..fuckin haters...somebody must like the dude or he wouldn't be doin bonnaroo this year... I didn't see any of y'alls names on the fuckin line-up..

  • 38 people wish there were two guys in that bed

  • girl talk RULES!!! best mash up artist ever, Djs aint got shit on his creativity

  • For anyone who doesnt know... this is clip is in a film called "Rip"... watch this film if u havnt already seen it, and if u have, watch it again, its phuckin awesome!!! Btw is this mashup released yet? Its sounds incredible!!!!

  • what a hack

  • and thats how mash--ups are made...

  • I love the sleepy girl in the background.

  • He should just poop on an Elvis Costello album instead....

  • Yea... That's real music.

  • fucking horrible

  • Some people take mashups/dance way to seriously, it's party music Relax!

  • @DJTate518 no, mixing is a livelihood and this dude that can't even dj with turntables has overexposed the whole art form and discredited the skills behind it.

  • I'ts not a mash up, its Black eyes peas

  • Comment removed

  • ok i know hes using cool edit here to make the sample..but what is the second program he uses? "the program that stretches it" where he adds the tempo keeper and the minimal version and the beats behind it so easily and quickly?

  • @cgundlac i know its not audiomulch..i have audiomulch and you cant do anything that easily.

  • ok i know hes using cool edit here to make the sample..but what is the second program he uses? "the program that stretches it" where he adds the tempo keeper and the minimal version and the beats behind it so easily and quickly?

  • @cgundlac try audiomulch

  • not that cool.

  • BAD.ASS.

  • I love the music you create braah,.

  • "Just paste that in a new window...just take 0.25 seconds of it...and then paste 1.25 seconds of it, which is half of that, and paste the 0.25 seconds again." HOLY FUCK GO FOR IT MAN. It's like watching Gram Parsons, Springsteen, or The Band in their prime. Such passion, such creative ferment. Truly, one of rock's greatest typists.

  • dude is that your girl on the bed? cause if she is then you need to marry her ass quick. if she din't fuck you up for making all that noise while she is traying to sleep then she a keeper.

  • I really wish I could see the screen of his laptop.

  • I smoked pot from an apple with this dude on stage when we played Heat Music Festival at UC Riverside in 2008

  • @djalfalpha dope

  • Yeah. Good job! Wouldn't mess with that ce ce penniston though. Great song but wrong key.

    Saludos.

  • Does anybody know for sure what program he is using? Interested in getting into this stuff, and just want to know what he is using.

  • @rittboy Audition is used here in this video. He also uses Audiomulch for sure. Really, it's probably best to keep your programs to a minimum to keep workflow more efficient.

  • Girl has a green sweatshirt on, def not naked...

  • Is that a realy cute girl trying to sleep in the background ps iv got to learn how to do that can you tell me what program you use

  • @fusionfallx Get yourself Audition or Audacity to extract loops from music you like. These programs will also be used in tracking/mixing. Otherwise, you can use GoldWave if you prefer.

  • i wanna get into making mixes. can someone help me with what software i should start with? I believe he uses adobe audition is there an easier maybe better program to use for pc?

  • @PhunnyPunny Audition is honestly about as easy as it gets. Otherwise, try out Audacity. They both will do the trick like a champ.

  • What a nut, haha he seems like a cool ass dude.

  • hot girl in background...

  • oh wow what an artist....

  • :45 high rolling with the top notch contact cleaner

  • cool edit non?

  • she was naked under the cover!

  • What software is that?

  • @Pulse120

    MS DOS

    Only he can understand it

  • @DrunkenBum0 Microsoft ...Disk Operating System?

  • Ha ha pretty bitch in the background

  • i really do love how it looks like they all just sorta woke up from partying last night and the camera guy was like "OH! yeah i forgot the reason i came over was to see how you make your music" and dude just pulls out a laptop and hops to it lol

  • what does he use to make this?

  • @pedriano999 Last I heard it was AudioMulch and Adobe Audition. Probably has some standard audio editing software too like an Audacity program.

  • @pedriano999 The first program is Cool Edit Pro. It's no longer for sale, but you can find it on google easily.

  • that girl is gorgeous

  • This MoFo is a mad f***ing GENIUS.

  • just with a girl in the back he makes a possible track for shows

  • doing this with a trackpad would be a pain in the ass.

  • He's got his clothes on for this mix!

There's a first time for everything lol.

  • Love how his chick is just sleeping through all of this. I'd love to be her, and just hang out with this crazy genius dude all day.

  • anyone know the name of the program he is using?

  • @Buju561 Adobe Audacity.

  • @lpvids thanks man

  • @lpvids Adobe - Audition 3

  • @lpvids Audacaity is not an Adobe product (thank god). Do you mean Adobe Audition?

  • @freedombasher Yeah, that's what I meant. Get all these programs that start with A mixed up.
