Hey guys go to your facebook accounts and look up "Scotch Mist" and like us. It's my band and we're influenced by radiohead:) thanks. Just trying to get noticed.
@abdshukrybinmusaacu Seriously dude, ENOUGH with the fucking Muse/Radiohead shit. They're totally different bands and shouldn't be compared. I like both equally if I want electronic/rock music, Ill listen to Radiohead, if I want riffage and operatic rock, I'll listen to Muse.
I guess Radiohead's diversity from guitar records, mellow records, and experimental records is what makes them so great. Heck, they can make a masterpiece with chicken noises in the background (due to the musical genius in Jonny Greenwood and Ed O'Brien) haha
I swear I have a musical eargasm everytime the song reaches the bridge @ 2:10.
I can listen to it over and over.
And I'm soo glad, there are peeps like you out there that just "get it" when it comes to the true love and appreciation of Radiohead. Trying to explain it to friends......it just cant be done
I have a question.. I dont get why so many Radiohead fans can "hate" on MUSE, and still say that music should be more like Radiohead.. Can anyone explain it to me??
@f4frodojerry Thanks for the answer, but my question isn't really for you.. Its for the Radiohead fans, that don't like muse, but says that music should sound more like radiohead.. (I agree 100% with you!)
@BluesBreakerJerry Muse don't sound like Radiohead *at all*. Showbiz carries some very slight similarities to The Bends, but after that they have both moved in completely different directions. And also, I used to be a huuuuuge Muse fan, but The Resistance is frankly pretty shit.
@Noumon10 Exogenesis is good, though it is hardly a symphony. That's just what Matt decided to call it. The rest of the album is really weak though. And his lyrics are worse than ever. They were never really good, but at least back in the OOS days they were obscure enough to hide he can't really write lyrics. But TR is just cringeworthy. And then to think that NSC came after that :p Though of course this is just my opinion, everyone is entitled to like what they want.
@TheFritz92 I just had a problem with the name. I like this album less than others but he has qualities. He just has his way of writting, don't be pretentious judging him ;). And Matt sai him self that to him, music is more important than lyrics. Then you can figure out why it's bad to you (sorry I'm french and making my best at english )
After hearing Justin Bieber on the radio here in the States for weeks at a time, this is a nice escape...real music. Too bad, the stations here don't play more Radiohead.
@shlomr This is going to sound really posh: I don´t think you have to be intellectual to like Radiohead´s songs, but you have to have at least some bases to understand Yorke´s lyrics.
@eazzy93 i know m8, but as i looked through the comments it got me really excited how the comments are more relating to relevant things as apposed to "OMG JONNY IS SO CUUUUTE <3". i guess what im trying to say is that often radiohead isnt listened to by your average teenage girl.
@NikoGot probably because theyre both very avant garde/experimental popular musicians and they both had a huge influence on popular music .....and theyre both fucking class acts!!!! :P
I saw these guys at the verizon music center in indiana, an outside venue designed for concerts and holy wow did radiohead not dissapoint, first time here in 7 years and it was worth every second of waiting, they blew my fucking socks off, literally i think i was too high and somehow left without my socks, i blame it on johnnys guitar
everything is good in moderation. all jokes aside though... genius like radiohead doesn't come around very often, that's why it's so special. don't get spoiled.
@stephenouve I think 'being more like radiohead' implicates research of diversity and desire of innovation so everything wouldn't be exactly the same :)
I think what made this video PHENOMENAL for me was the fact that Ed, who seems to be the least prone to thrash about, jump around, etc., lost it near the end of the song. Seeing that was just beautiful.
Bodysnatchers along with Jigsaw Falling Into Place are actually two of the best songs in In Rainbows that's why they got released as singles in the US to promote the physical album. Also, Radiohead is at its best when they use their three-guitar frontline. That's one truth about them that can never be denied and one of the reasons they are big now. Fans of their more electronic records can wax lyrical on Kid A/Amnesiac but Radiohead's best songs will always be those guitar-driven ones.
Yup, one of my favorite songs in OK Computer. Basically, almost all the songs in Ok Computer utilize three guitars so it's a badass album and will probably remain my absolute favorite Radiohead record.
That maybe so but there's a reason why OK Computer still remains Radiohead's most lauded record and every other new record they made thereafter had been unfairly compared to it.
Again, it boils down to tastes, doesn't it? Although I would vouch for Bodysnatchers as being one of the fan favorites in gigs because it's a rocking song and I tend to favor loud guitars than anything mellow. You say Idioteque, I say The National Anthem. No two people will like the same things and I've always been indifferent to mellow Radiohead songs post HTTT. The album itself In Rainbows while very good still lacked that certain kick present in all their previous records.
As far as OKC goes, I thought The Bends was more of a rocker if youre pointing to their best effort in that area. Kid A is tops for me, but a lot of people were turned off to analog.
I'm quite fond of Nude to be honest so no problem there.
True, The Bends had more of a rock swagger than OK Computer and it was for a time on top of my most enjoyed Radiohead record but there's just something about OKC that made me listen multiple times and truly ingest it. You know I mean? Suppose you could say I related to it on a far deeper level than I ever did with any other Radiohead records before and after it. I'd elaborate more on this but damn YT, only 500 character count per comment.
I saw OKC as more refined than The Bends, but I tend to listen to Bends more. Having said that, we're about on the same wavelength with a personal attachment to OKC and for me it has mostly to do with the timing of its release. I wont say which one is better in my opinion because they're pretty interchangeable in my mind. I did enjoy the group of B-sides from The Bends much more, for whatever thats worth.
It's why I love Radiohead, their collection of B-sides and rarities are oftentimes, a gem, granted some are unpolished but still quite good all the same. I thought the Go to Sleep Ep was excellent and felt Gagging Order and I am a Wicked Child esp.(love the groovy, bluesy vibe) could've easily belonged to the rest of Hail if mixed and refined just a bit to match the rest of the records feel.
"always been indifferent to mellow Radiohead songs post HTTT" - so that just means you don't like most of In Rainbows or the bonus disc.
I thought In Rainbows was one of their best as a cohesive album. What do you mean about lacking a kick? I am not disagreeing necessarily, I just want to know where you thought the kick was in HTTT that this album didn't have (for example).
I'm not knocking In Rainbows as a whole. Yes it was a cohesive album, probably what made it a tinge better than HTTT. The main gripe I have with it if I can be so viciously honest, is the overtly polish sound. There's no grit at all and some songs just didn't quite soar as expected, it's like running in circles. I guess you could say I loved half of it and felt massively letdown by the other half. I'll give it quite a few more runs to see if the other half sticks, if it doesn't well that's that.
"grit," yes, now I think I know what you mean. I agree with that. That's the type of album it is I guess. I would even say that I like the sound of Hail to the Thief more and can listen to select tracks off that all day. I like "Twisted Words" and if their next album sounds like that I will be very happy.
OK Computer and Hail to the Thief, those two are tied to number one spot as far as enjoyment goes, and The Bends a very close second. If they could get back some of that grit back on Lp8, I would be extremely ecstatic I might even throw a listening party! As for Twisted...well, to be honest, it's sort of bland for my eardrums. Doesn't quite get me but I understand that some fans find it quite a lovely piece.
Ok Computer and Hail to the Thief are the best records for me as far enjoyment goes, with The Bends coming at a very close second. Now if they could slather some of that grit back on Lp8, I would be extremely ecstatic I might even throw a listening party.
I think it is their best album to date. Where i loved OKComputer and Kid A before, i must say that In Rainbows is their most intimate record yet. It possesses the straight from the heart gesture that they tried to capture with HTTT, uses some strange fresh effects like in Kid A, but it also has this intimate feel in it that none of the previous albums had before. Nude, Weird Fishes, All I Need and Videotape seem completely honestly written with no political or climate concern whatsoever.
Intimate but hardly revolutionary. It's not my least favorite but hardly my favorite either. I'd say it got a semi-lukewarm reception to me because I'm not huge fan of mellow Radiohead, at least not this mellow.
In terms of unique sound and experimentation with electronics it is not as revolutionary as Kid A, but that's not an argument why KID A or OKC is better. In Rainbows sounds like a record that moved past that phase while not completely ignoring it. The lyrics are brilliantly written and the songs on the record sound really varied, but solidly coherent at the same time. A more mature record in my opinion. They won't be able to ever make a second Kid A/OKC again, because they've already been there.
I do recognize it as their most cohesive album to date but that doesn't mean I love it or I have to force myself to love it. It just doesn't move me like the rest of their efforts. If this is mature Radiohead and how they're going to sound from here onwards and LP8 turns out to be another organic record, would you still deem it mature or simply repetitive? As I've stated in my earlier comments, it's all a matter of taste and even the most devoted Radiohead fans know this.
Yeah, it's a matter of opinion. I love OKC, KID A/Amnesiac alot too, but i personally think In Rainbows was the most logical next step for them. Sort of like a natural evolution. Don't force yourself to love it, but i think the songs live are even better than on the album.
I don't know where they'll go from here, maybe back to a bit more experimental stuff, but with the heart of In Rainbows in mind. It seems to be going that direction with their new song.
I'd love for them to get some of that darkness back into their songs. Experimental stuff and dark themes go hand in hand with Radiohead. They do it best that way. I've actually liked some of the songs from In Rainbows when they first started testing these songs live but the record versions sort of turned me off and I haven't un-turned myself off yet I guess. Pehaps I would in time for Lp8's release, if there ever is one.
Heh, back in around '01 (before Amnesiac came out) I decided to take a good listen to them and got their two most acclaimed (Computer and Kid A). I instantly loved OK but Kid A was the last one of the discography I ended up liking. It used to be my least favorite; now I'm making sure to get it when the deluxe discbox for it comes out in August! I know what you mean jesseh.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This IS my least favourite In Rainbows song! I sometimes skip the track. The break in the middle is good, but the rest of the song is crap. "Jigsaw", in similar style, is much better.
eh, i still like it infinitely more than "house of cards"...it's one of my faves and i think it is a good follower to "15 step" as a high-energy rocker. my fav is weird fishes by far though.
good work here

I've actually liked some of the songs from In Rainbows when they first started testing these songs live but the record versions sort of turned me off and I haven't un-turned myself off yet I guess. Pehaps I would in time for Lp8's release, if there ever is one.

Thom's guitar is out of tune in the beginning, but otherwise spot on!

this is an amazing song! DEFINITELY one of my favorite on in rainbows.
it's a lot of fun to play, too.

Shocked by some of the comments, but respect them highly. Bodysnatchers is in my top 5.

Yeah, i don't get it, I love this song. It's so energetic!
Thom shows off some impressive skills by singing and playing this live.

The singing is quite bad in here.

This is probably my least favourite song on in rainbows, but it's still infinitely better than any other shit current bands spew out.
Can't wait for Radiohead's next album

This IS my least favourite In Rainbows song! I sometimes skip the track. The break in the middle is good, but the rest of the song is crap. "Jigsaw", in similar style, is much better.
Flowerbranche 2 years ago
I wouldn't say any of it is crap, but it isn't as good as any of the other tracks on In Rainbows
tparkins92 2 years ago
eh, i still like it infinitely more than "house of cards"...it's one of my faves and i think it is a good follower to "15 step" as a high-energy rocker. my fav is weird fishes by far though.
aceofbassgreg 2 years ago
good point, maybe it isn't the worst, it's still a great track :)

I was at the same spot as you guys when I first listened to it, but I fell in love with this song after listening to it more.
Give it a try, you might grow to like it! It's happened to me on so many Radiohead songs...

I do like it, just not as much as some of the other in rainbows tracks :P

I think he forget to put his guitar in drop D
RToffler 2 years ago
It would have sounded awful if he had forgotten. Does this sound awful? I think not.
Davepumpkinhead 2 years ago 7
It is a bit out of tune it seems, but still in drop D.
That's not really a problem with Bodysnatchers though, nasty tune to begin with
farfle10 2 years ago 2
That is most definitely in drop d my friend. Either way, Thom stops the song if something like that happens. Watch more radiohead videos please : )
