The '59 Cadillac was the peak year as far as I'm concerned. The 50's ended in a bang... and what a glorious time it was. The fins had never been bigger, but where could they go from here? I love the '59 Cadillac hearses too, go out in style I say.
The '59 Series 62, coupe or the two sedans, have simply perfect, modern interiors. Not overdone, as in the DeVilles & Sixty-Specials. Check out their door panels and armrests--they've stood the test of time for mid-century modern. Paul in Scotsdale.
HERE, HERE! I agree, whole-heartedly!!!!! The Cadillac has been stripped of it's most identifying feature: the tail fin....Rendering it, dare I say, just ordinary...What a shame!!!!
I like the convertible best. The sedan de ville 4 dr. with panorama rear window looks better to me than the other body style. Too bad there aren't as many devilles around.
congratulations!!!!! you have just been hired to work in gm you will be working in the cadillac division now we would like you to see this informative video before you start...

The '59 models made by all of the big three were uniformly gaudy and excessive, However, the materials were top-notch.

That may be - but Cadillac has never pronounced their Coupe de Ville in advertising or anywhere that I've heard "Coupay" de Ville.

The single biggest mistake that led to the demise of Cadillac: they abandoned the tail fins.

62 was the series for the car. It was the Sedan DeVille line. 60 Special series was the Fleetwood model. The 75 Series was the Limousine.

It's French. Coupe...with the mark above the "e" means it is pronounced like an "a".
