I know a lot about computers to and when I try to find a new part for my computer like new ram and hard drives the guys in the local component shop try and take me for a ride I relised this when I bought a 250 gig harddrive that crashed my old 500gb hard drive and I lost all my data and even with my recept the guys wouldn't give me a refund, that computer shop burned to the ground due to "electrical failures" 2 days later.
I find external USB drives the adapter have a high failure rate IMO. Also if the external drive fails turn it into a internal drive if possible. Have done with a 500GB 3.5 inch Seagate drive and a 500 GB 2.5 Hitachi drive. Put that one in my PS3.
Firewire is now almost dead. USB is coming out with its 3.0 spec which is much faster. E-SATA is still the fastest but USB is much more versatile and usable on older computers. (USB - older connector hubs are available, much less for E-SATA connectors.)
Dude, back when I was 12 years old till I was about 16 my parents dragged us all to Adventureland sooo many times! I feel your pain! Hell I was there in the same time frame since I'm 28 now, makes you about 2 years older! Crazy!
And the Iowa State Fair... Now there's a whole other ball 'o crazy! I have never seen so many different types of food on a stick! Not to mention toothless grins! o.O
yea like last night. my vista failed and said no internal drive after it restarted from a BSOD. luckily it worked and i was happy i had a external because that would have been a pain. :D

thanks for the tips...saved me a lot of trouble :D .... got a question though : when are we going to get portable terabyte hard disk drives ... that would be something cool to have
hmm.. i kinda messed up my last hard drive. and now i got a 1t. Deskstar 7K1000 that costed me about 400$ as it is quiet.. but note: the more you get thhe more info seems to skip around. and slower things will go.. i had the money on me so i bought it.

Dont attempt updating anything in a laptop. It either wont fit. Or will be the laptop cook its self.
