  • hey...i got marshall mg 15 cdr..n i use boss mt-2 for distortion...will this pedal help me ta reduce the feedback noise??..or do you have any idea to reduce feedback noise??..reply soon dude!! :)

  • i use a boss metal zone pedal and even though its got such a beautiful sound, the feedback is horrible so hoping this pedal can do the job :D

  • Nice video bud!

  • I definitely getting this one... i had 10 stompbox the tuner is included in my pedal train... And do u think it will elliminate the buzz and feedback sound from my half stock tube amp?

  • it works for a bass?

  • Cool!!! i just got one! lovin it!

    B~

  • turn down your gain, plus check your amps speakers. plus get used to an eq rack or pedal.

  • is there any use for this pedal for acoustic guitars?

  • Should I put this closer to the guitar input or the amp input?

  • can this pedal reduce the buzz/hums made by the overdriven amp?

  • @TheMarjansCLAN Yes that is the whole point of a noise supressor

  • hey guys, need help. how many compact pedals can ns2 power up?

  • need help guys. i still get lots of feedback even with this pedal. im using planet wave tuner,ts9 n boss NS-2 thats all. cables are all planetwaves. im using LTD deluxe that comes with emg pickups. i still have lots of feedback during shows n jammings

  • @mamabonthere

    try turning down the gain

  • too many box's and pop ups , thats why people dis-liked i think

  • does anyone have a question about the x pattern .

  • sweet socks bro

  • can i plug that into my boss gt6? DOES THAT MEAN THEIR WILL NOT BE ANY NOISE ANY MORE?

  • why do my pickups make so much buzzing noise?/ i got a boss gt6

  • This is a good review.

But you don't seem to know the purpose of threshold or decay

  • can this cut a shit load of feedback?

im usin a beta aivin noise gate, it works fine when im usin my heavy metal pedal full gain + an EQ boosting it, but when i turn my compressor on thers no way of stoppin the feedback :P (btw i dont know how to use the effect loop properly, so i dont use it) I have a blackstar 5HT

  • @bigcatroberts My amp doesn't have an Fx loop, am I just out of luck?

  • muito bom esse pedal

  • I dont fully understand the send/return, how is it all hooked up?

  • Comment removed

  • better this one or the ISP decimator?

  • hi-just got onre of these it cuts the hum when you activate it but when you play the guitar the hum comes back throuth the speaker-the pedla that smakes the most hum is ibanesz ge9 graphic equaliser--can you telll me why i still get the hum-i have tried alll the settings still the same and have moved it arounf the pedal board -didi not solve it -i thought this pedal would solve the hum---sean

  • nice socks dude :D

  • The decay knob on this pedal NEEDS to be set at it's lowest setting!!

The NS-2 manual even states that decay should ideally not be activated unless threshold does not work to silence your signal when dimed.

  • here is my review!!! /watch?v=eCVLSLg2_c4

  • the decay settin sucks.....Do not have this even at 9 ocklock.....it makes your pedal useless.keep it all the time at 7 ocklock

  • Monte Allums has just released a Mod for this pedal that improves the tone that comes through

  • what if your amp hums on the dirty channel when your guitar is plugged straight in with no pedals with this help eliminate the hum?

  • @hendrix1222 if you put it in the Fx loop

  • @hendrix1222

Yes it will. U don't need a fx loop. u just can use it between your guitar and amp. Guitar --> boss ns-2 --> amp.

  • @hendrix1222 yes

  • @hendrix1222 use the fx loop if you have one

  • @hendrix1222 yes :)

  • @hendrix1222 yes, it should, assuming the buzz is coming from either single coil p/u or active/hi gain p/u's.. as long as the buzz isnt coming from the amp itsself it should.

  • how much does one of the ns 2's cost

  • @spacewithace1997

    in Belgium it's 90€

  • What if I wanna use distortion pedals and my amp's distortion ?

  • Do you have to have the adaptor to use this pedal?

  • @InfernalKamikaze like every boss pedal, you can put a 9V battery in it

  • lol 1:29 sounded like a fart XD good shit

  • My fuzz pedal howls like a motherfucker unless I use a noise suppressor (possibly exacerbated by the fact that I mainly play a Strat with stock single coils). This is a really good explanation of how the pedal works.

  • The NS-2 sucks a lot of tone when using the loop(send/return) IMHO works better using only the input/output

  • Does this pedal silence the really loud noise of the highest gain? xP If u know what i mean? Does it work well with hi gain with pretty much noise? Does it destroy the metal sound? Or does it only silence noise?

  • @g3tard hey, i use it, i play death metal on a fireball100 amp and we go very loud with much gain. I use the boss NS-2 and it works perfect! try to set your speaker very loud, turn you guitar on and hold your hands in the air.. you will get deaf of the noise! But this pedal takes it all away without changing the sound at all.

  • @Simetra2803

Thank you man. recently bought this pedal. And have to say it was worth the money :)

I get such a better time playing the guitar after buying this pedal.

  • How do u set up the boss ns2. I cant figure out what goes into the send and return. The plug in's have me confused. Is there anyway someone can tell me how to set up a pedalboard with this noise gate. Thanks

  • i need one of these, the fuzz and feedback on my 6505+ Lead Channel is fucking ridiculous once you get up to about 2 or 3 on the volume

  • @CTMetalhead95 yea thats what i got and when ever i goto band practice the buzz from 6505 annoys everyone

  • @12rstevenson yeah these pedals get rid of that right?

  • this pedal always eliminate the humm or justo when you are not playing ???? HElp pLZ!

  • @pinchimike just when you're not playing

  • who do you have a bunch of effects when you have a piece of shit guitar? for the price of those pedals you couldve bought a decent guitar instead of a $90 squire

  • Lol sock xP

  • so where do u usually put the noise supressor? at the end of effect chain right before the last pedal which i assume is delay or reverb?

  • i have a laney 35 watt amp.. and when its volume is pushed up to the top ( im using the jackson kelly and a boss md-2) i get some horrible noise... too much squealing and feedback, not buzz... can this pedal help me ?

  • USE THE X PATTERN SETUP!!!!

  • USE THE X PATTERN SETUP!!!!

  • only bad thing about p90s is hum. this pedal is the only real working solution.

  • Hi

I hav a distortoin pedal called The Dime DIstortion by MXR and i al the time wish i and wack it up but at makes a big squeel and tones of fuzz can this pedal mute them all

    From UK

  • Would it cut back on the sustain weal using compresor?

  • @gustiii2 no it would boost it

  • this pedal eliminates that noise when im not touching the strings? .. help plz!!!

  • @pinchimike yup

  • @ljubes thanks

  • how come this isn't in HD?

  • @superskwrl because you touch yourself at night.

  • @phogjuice you should fix the title and description there

  • So here's the deal, how do I reduce my noise to the fullest? My pedals in order: Guitar --> Crybaby Wha-Wha --> Korg tuning pedal --> Boss NS-2 --> Boss MT-2 (dist pedal) --> Boss EQ pedal --> Boss DD-2 pedal --> Amp. How do u suggest I place them in the right order, note I have not used the "return & send" in my Boss NS-2. Sorry for alot of text but an answer would be awesome!

  • @JohnHeartTV this is how i do it, using the fx loop of my amp tho

Mex stratocaster --> boss compressor --> ibanez wh 10 --> boss ds 2 --> ehx fuzz --> mxr micro amp --> NS-2 Input | NS-2 Send --> fender hot rod deluxe input | fender hot rod deluxe FX Loop Send --> mxr phase 90 --> tonfancier binyang chorus --> tonefancier flanger --> NS-2 Return | NS-2 Output --> [B]fender hot rod deluxe FX Loop Return

  • @phillydip I dont have any LX Loop on my Amp. I have a Marshall 1959RR so yeah. Can you tell me how I shall put my pedals in order cause yours are a little bit confusing ^^

  • @JohnHeartTV I'd personally put if after your Boss MT-2

  • can this stop that ridiculous feedback i get when playing really loud?

  • @GodsmackCovers Depends if the feedback is caused by the amp or the guitar... or the lead.

  • can i kill with this pedal my hardcore feedback?

  • I didn't know you could use 2 pedals together. How are they hooked up?

    Please tell me.

Could you use this thing with a MT2 Metal Zone?

  • I have been having problems with unwanted harmonics and feedback during gigs... Does this get rid of it?

  • glove socks 4:43

  • i have a distortion pedal along with a overdrive booster pedal from MXR and the thing howls like a bitch cause i have so much feedback. Would this pedal clear that up for me?

  • this pedal would really clean up my arpeggios

  • hey could you explain to me what the different imputs and out puts are for? i didnt quite catch it in the video

  • would this affect things like reverb, delay (as the repeats get quieter), and sustain?

  • @desr2395

it's best to place delay and reverb pedals behind the ns-2. that's what i've read and what works best for me too... Reverb and delay pedals usually don't give alot of noise... The most noise I get is from my fuzz and distortion pedals anyways...

  • @NearlyAMusician thaaaaaat makes a lot of sense hahaha. thanks

  • Nice sock

  • Why do you keep saying "Indication", it's Reduction!

  • To clear Everything Up the Beaping is due to the fuzz! I got rid of that because of that!

  • i just got a cool vox ad100vt-xl, but with my pedal setup the ns is much needed. can anyone help me choose which pedals would go in a) the effects send, and b) which ones would go in the regular chain?:

boss ns, mxr eq, ehx holy stain, ehx big muff pi tone wicker, boss dd-6, digitech synth wah, and yes even an alesis bitrman (wild tones if you set it up right). i'm assuming that some of these pedals are sucking up my tone as well.

  • @mastertrev try running anything gain, fuzz, overdrive based in the loop of the ns, then run the ns before your delays and what not after. traditionally speaking, you run dirt pedals to the front of an amp and your modulation/reverb/delays into the effects loop of the amp, if without a loop in the amp, running them after the dirt pedals is pretty standard. the idea of the noise suppressor, i feel, is to clean up ONLY drive pedals.you can always just put whatever pedals make too much noise in too

  • @griffinmpable EnnesX makes sense. sustain and tone are the things i would never sacrifice. fortunately i have a loop on the amp as to set up your 'non gainey' effects. and i would always recommend a good eq for the loop. makes a hell of a difference. thanks for the help

  • ok i bought a delay pedal recently..i love it..but it hadds so much buzz even with it off. if i would this pedal at the end of my effect chain...we it stop the buzzing from my delay pedal?

  • @nightskater2112 If I understand correctly, you would plug your guitar into the input, then go from the send to your delay pedal, from the delay pedal to the return and then from the output to the amp. So, you'd need two patch cables and two regular cables. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @TheThirteenthCircle That's correct sir. BUT, if you are only using the NS-2 and ONE other pedal, you wouldn't need to put it thru the send, because there is nothing else to gate. So you would simply just have the noise gate at the beginning of the chain, and the other pedal after... and into the amp.

If you have a number of pedals however, you would want to run your dirt section thru the send of the NS-2. That way it's not acting as a gate to ALL your pedals.

  • Hey, can somebody explain me what this pedal does ?

  • @MrHeavysteel it gets rid of the annoying hum you get from your amp

  • @guitarcar911 Do i loose on tone ? Can distortion make up for it ?

  • @MrHeavysteel you shouldnt lose any tone, mabey a tiny bit of sustain if you set the gate up to high on the pedal but with the right balance you should be fine, hope i helped

  • @guitarcar911 Thanks.

  • whats in the return input

  • but with this pedal I will lose some of my guitar signal?

  • how do you set up the pedal where does the output goes, input, send, return whit one pedal (stupid question... but never had a noise gate pedal)

  • @XXXM3T4LL1C4XXX just run it through your effects loop

  • @metalrocker68 it is boss. they don't think

  • @metalrocker68 Actually the MXR Smart Gate is Hardwire bypass meaning that it doesn't have a buffer like the Boss, however it still goes through the signal when off. I emailed them and the video stating it is true bypass is incorrect. I don't know why look it up if you don't believe me.

  • @misterfuchie

Then your ears are not good enough to hear the noise.

  • The beeping after 3.15..?

  • cool sock)

  • that would be pretty dandy

  • is this pedal true bypass?

  • Think I'm gonna get one.... I got a ds-1, RE20 and Alesis quadraverb rack and the hum is ridiculous.... not convinced this pedal won't suck out the tone but for 50 quid who gives a fk !

  • what is that beeping

  • @posiedonpowertrio 4:30 I guess, good vid.... but what cables do you use ? doesent look expensive. . ? , dont have to get the very expensive , but not the cheepest, then it takes away alot of fuzz and buzz ... but on high gain, that will screems anyway , when you got too have this pedal ,

  • @posiedonpowertrio theres a bip sound

  • @posiedonpowertrio Have some questions:

    - from 3:59 after your strumming it comes a little very high harmonic beep... what is that?

    - does this effect cuts long sustain or delays? (cause I use them a lot)

    Thanks!

  • @softman88

-at 3:59 one (or a combination of a few) of the pedals he's got is creating that high harmonic squeal.

-you use the decay dial to determine how much time before it starts suppressing noise, so if you set the threshold low enough, and the decay slow enough, it shouldn't affect your sustain at all...and unless you set the decay to nearly instantaneous a delay effect should work fine also.

  • @posiedonpowertrio you can hear it clearly around 3.00-4.30

  • @posiedonpowertrio 4:00 after you play the notes there is a beep

  • @insidegoodoutsidebad that's the dc transformer noise from the me-50 pedal. The power sources for these pedals destroys tone and adds a nasty squeal into the chain. The purpose of the noise suppressor is to eliminate this. I usually prefer to use an analogue preamp to boost guitar input and avoid noise, but you'll always want something to fix whatever's left behind, especially if you use single-coil pickups like those in a Strat. The Boss pedal runs for about $100, and a Behringer one for $21.

  • will this cut out feed back also do i put it amp ns2 pedal guitar or ortrher way around

  • Finally a good demo of the NS-2. Job well done! Congrats and keep on rockin'!! \m/

  • So the way I understand it, my guitar goes into the input. The output goes to the amp. the send would go to my first pedal, and the last pedal would go to the return. Is this correct?

  • @rootbeerandguitar Almost, you only really want your gain or otherwise noisy pedals going through this pedal. I have my 3 gain pedals in my NS-2 loop but the output of my NS-2 goes into my chorus, then delay, then my looper, if you get what I mean. Also, the best way to set this pedal is to hook it up, engage the noisiest combination of effects you use normally, and then "dial out" the noise on the pedal. You don't really want the gate stronger than neccessary because it will cut your sustain

  • @rootbeerandguitar

Hi, I need some help. I have a Schecter Hellraiser and a boss metal core pedal. Is this supressor a good one for me and how do I hook it up and what cords do I need. Sorry I'm a bit of a noob. Thanks. -Joe

  • @rootbeerandguitar of course

  • great review vid, thank you so much, man!

  • Comment removed

  • can you run this through an effects loop?

  • can you show us how your cables are hooked up using the send, output and return?

  • Nice Vid dude... I like the NS-2 its a nice pedal

  • can it be used on a metalcore? I think it's very usefull because metalcore is very hard!

  • how do the input and output work?

  • thanks

  • i don't get it, can u make it just block out all of the fuzz and staticky shit i don't want to hear, and just make it silent unless i play??

  • @BUFFW Yes. It has a noise gate in it, meaning the noise has to reach a certain level before it is actually put out XD

  • i bought one of these the other day. still kind of confused as to how to hook it up properly. when i first got it i hooked it up through my other pedals (boss ds-1, boss os-2 and 535Q wah pedal) but i got nothing out of it. so i started with 1 pedal and added more as i went. now have it running through the ds-1 and os-2 but not the wah. can you do a quick run through showing how to properly hook it up with other pedals. (return send etc) thanks

  • @ed0985587 just put it as your last pedal before your amp

  • does this take the gain fuzz from your amp ?or just if its in a loop with pedals

  • ha i view first!

i just ordered one of these it should be at my door tomarrow or the day after woo
