I went to King Narcisse funeral in 1989. The King and Bisop Lathan could play the piano, organ and they could sing and Bishop E. I. Nero can play the piano, organ and can also sing.... I have been tremendiously blessed to be under some talented Leaders in the early years of my life....

I do apprecaite that 100% im going there tomorrow I was young when King died i was on the 8th grade at the time living in vallejo but i know my mom went to his church of and on and one in vallejo for a while but i do know she was not a member of the one in oakland. But i will check that out 1st thing in the morning

To barmasony1: Lois Perkins was a member of Mt. Zion Spiritual Temple under King Narcisse before she left and went to Isrealite Spiritual Temple and Landmark Spiritual Temple. Bishop Nero was founder of Landmark Spiritual Temple. He has since moved on to Detroit, Michigan.

To barmasony1: Yes Lois Perkins was with Bishop G. T. Lathan, but she left and went to Landmark Spiritual Temple. No she wasn't the eldest daughter of Mother Paxton. She was the daughter of Mother Hazel Fowler. As a matter of fact, I have a copy of the Video Tape of King Narcisse homegoing.

To PatriciasMusicPage: Was Lois Perkins a part of Bishop Lathan's church? I was informed she was the eldest daughter of Mother Paxton. By the way I knew Joyce Beasley so well. She was part of the Lathanettes. GOD BLESS

I just drove to his church and its still there. Its still looks the same but its all gutted out in the inside a lot of things in there are still there that was left. but its sad i sat out in front of his church and just felt he was still there. it sits on the corner of 14th and Peralta white and brown building

As a matter of fact, Bishop Kenneth Johnson who founded Starlight Spiritual Temple passed away in August of 2008. I went to his funeral. I went to Bishop G. T. Lathan's funeral back in 1977. I went to King Narcisse funeral in 1989. The King and Bisop Lathan could play the piano, organ and they could sing and Bishop E. I. Nero can play the piano, organ and can also sing.... I have been tremendiously blessed to be under some talented Leaders in the early years of my life....

I do remember King Narcisse Funeral I remember it well i was in the 8th grade when he passed and lived in vallejo. it was something to remember. Ive driven by the Startlight Spititual Temple in west oakland. And i always wondered was it like King Narcisses church im sure it is. Someday i really want to visit it

Yes, I do remember the late Bishop G. T. Lathan.... I remember Odessa Perkins, Joyce Beasley and some others.... Landmark Spiritual Temple started out in Richmond, California and then moved to San Francisco, and then later moved to Oakland and on to Los Angeles and now they are in Detroit. Bishop E. I. Nero and the Landmark Crusade Choir You Can Make It and I've Been Working For Jesus sung by Lois Perkins....

Mt. Zion is still standing. Some of the royal family went to various Spiritual Churches. Many went to Starlight Church on 35th St. Bishop Johnson who was the pastor for many years went to sleep a few years back. I hope you all remember the late Bishop GT Lathan who propelled Odessa Perkins to greatness along with Joe Garrett

Mt. Zion Spiritual Temple, Inc. - Theme Song was: What A Fellowship - They did the Lord's Prayer - They also sang Jesus Is The Light - Mt. Zion Spiritual Temple didn't mimick any songs. Their songs were originals of "His Grace Thee King". I miss Mt. Zion Spiritual Temple. As far as I have heard, the wooden structure is still standing there and nothing has been done as of this date. It still looks the same burned out building and nothing has been built there....

I can confirm that. i went down to hos church and walked right up to the doors. Looked inside and see what was left. but im going to go back in the day time so i can get a better look at it. But it looked to be a nice size church during its time . strange all them years its been burned and its left as is. Man id like to walk inside of it. but you are right its still standing there.

Some of the members of Mt. Zion Spiritual Temple go to Metropolitan Spiritual Temple off of Adeline Street in West Oakland not far from 32nd Street....

I live one mile from where MOUNT ZION used to be. A bishop was voted in but he went no where. Some of King Narcisse followers went to Starlight Spiritual Temple, between san pablo ave and west street. I have most of his recordings.

That was the late Bishop Kenneth Johnson who started Starlight Spiritual Sanctuary. He used to be a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church right across the Street from Mt. Zion on Peralta & 15th Streets in West Oakland before he started Starlight Spiritual Sanctuary

I have both of those CD's the one where the King sang It's So Nice To Be Nice with the old version and the newer version. I got them both at Down Home Music Store in El Cerrito. If I can find the phone number for Bishop Arthur B. Burnett, I will pass it along to you.

MAN King Louis H Narcisse WAS A HECK OF A PREACHER! the church where Mt. Zion used to be is not there no longer but i know a lot of his past members my mom used to be until he passed. He was a good singer and preacher done a lot for Oakland

Who was your mother? I used to go to Mt. Zion and I used to sing in the choir for a while. What was your mother's name? I did know of someone who passed away in 2004 and they had her funeral at Rev. Garnett's Church. But the woman whom I knew whose funeral was at Rev. Garnett's Church was a member at Rock of Ages Baptist Church in San Pablo, California before she moved her membership to Tabernacle of Faith Baptist Church in San Francisco, California.
