This is so sad, i am so sorry or your loss Jordan, and if I am not mistaken, your mother has also just recently passed. This must be a terrible time for you Jordan.... my deepest condolences. My grandmother is in the hospital for heart failure and I'm not sure she is going to make it...
I am so, so sorry for your losses, Mr. Rudess.
let us all skip to 0:34 in this video, and mourn the passing of Richard.
Jordan, I am just wondering, what is the price range for continuums like yours? I'm looking to buy, and I wanted a better picture of how much I would be spending. I thought to myself: "who better to ask?"
@jordonswannguitar Hi - Jordan let me know about your price question. He has got a half size, it is US$3390. You can see the prices, and lots of other info, on the hakenaudio web site. Also there is an email address on the contact page for me, in case you have questions - like "why the heck does it cost so much!?" :)
thanks for your interest! (and Jordan, thanks for your playing!)
@yrgmaailm The Continuum sends each new note on a different MIDI channel, and standard MIDI pitch bend messages are used. We set the pitch bend width that the Continuum is sending to be the same pitch bend width the SampleWiz interprets (either 24 or 48 semitones in this case, I think), and SampleWiz listens, by default, on all 16 MIDI channels. Both the Continuum and SampleWiz can be configured to use fewer channels, but this limits the number of simultaneous notes that can be played.
Tell Richard to shave his head and moustache so you guys can be look-alike buddies!!
Oh, and all this stuff you're making for these applications is making me totally want a big fancy phone like a droid or an iPhone.... It's too awesome for my budget!
YOUR NEW RECORD JUST LEAKED AND ITS AWESOME!! It may be the best thing since Metropolis pt.2! I think i have tears of awesomeness in my eyes. And of course i'll buy it in a week. Thank you so much for everything!
Ps: Is that Myung on Bass? I can hear him without using filters. :-)
have you ever thought to make samplewiz for android too? I use android phone and tablet and my brother doesn't like when I steal his ipad to play with samplewiz... It would be supercool if samplewiz would be in android market! I would buy it right away :D:D
All those cables reminds me of the home stereo systems of the 80 with the seprate components. Anyway...way cool sounding and the camera guy was flawless :)
Hey Jordan when you use the midi feature on a Continuum or Synth, does that allow you to play more octaves than the one SampleWiz is currently set to?
@EvilSkeltos SampleWiz has a 9-octave range, regardless of whether you use MIDI or the built-in playing surface. Each keyboard is resizable up to 2 octaves, and we have 2 keyboards. Also, there are octave switches on each keyboard and a range selector that lets you tap anywhere on the 9-octave range to jump to it instantly.
Richard is totally trying to rip off your awesome goatee. This sounds absolutely beautiful. Not to mention a great application of the continuum. What was the z axis mapped to?
I LOVE this...however, I suspect the long term gain is routing the signal the other way - the ipad functions as a very customizable controller, driving external synths. This way, each piece of hardware is "optimized" for what it can do best. The UI for samplewiz/morphwiz, controller apps like Musix, Hexachrom, ThumbJam, what I'm guessing that Pythagoras is morphing towards...all fast, very low latency UI controller surfaces. They could then drive external sound generators....
Looks good - It's not likely I'll be able to get a Continuum to control SampleWiz this way, but maybe I'll be able to to do something like that with MorphWiz as demoed in your other video. The preset (Tuscany-Horn (vertical amp)) sounded great being controlled this way!
What do you use to connect physical midi to the ipad? The camera kit thingie or something else? I want to try this with my continuum and SampleWiz but have yet to hook up external midi to the iPad.
@doktorfuture in this case, MIDI Out from the Continuum to MIDI In on the iConnectMIDI interface (you see it briefly in the video at 1:07) and from there with a cable (USB-to-iConnector, I think, provided with the iConnectMIDI) to the iPad. The Continuum has standard MIDI out, so you need a 5-pin MIDI interface to use it with the iPad or iPhone. I believe the Line6 MIDI Mobilizer will also work.
Someone took the hilarity and wit of Tim Curry, the awesome might and brilliance of Orson Welles, and wrapped him into a new form full with two spoon fulls of extra musical talent!
@NewgroundsOwnSBB Ehehe...but using the app with MIDI, makes the iPhone version much more useful... You can go around with just a 25 keys master keyboard and a really small "rack" with wonderful sounds inside... that way, you loose the possibility of using the vertical movement on the key for volume etc... but you save your $5000
RIP Richard Lainhart :(

How is the continuous pitch transferred via midi polyphonically?
yrgmaailm 4 months ago
@yrgmaailm The Continuum sends each new note on a different MIDI channel, and standard MIDI pitch bend messages are used.
