nice playing. I was wondering how that MB-1 sounds recording direct through it, into a computer? Does it add any character/color and upgrade the sound at all? Or would I be better off saving my money and just going through the mbox preamps direct? Thanks
Hi and congratulations for your performance. I've just a question about your equipment: I saw you use an ADA MB-1 preamp, can you make a brief review of it? I'm interested in buying one but there's no useful reviews around.. Anyway thanks.. Bye!
@ricklunaire The MB-1 is the most incredible and versatile bass pre-amp I've ever used. Some bassist like to find their sound and keep the knobs in the same position for the next 30 years. The MB-1 is not for them, but if you like having hundreds of preset sounds that you can change from song to song with a midi pedal, you can't go wrong.
I second this motion, wxb200. If you got some time, do an MB-1 review. There needs to be more on the net. Meanwhile check out adadepot.com for written reviews
For single string triplet thumps I do what Victor Wooten does... Down and Up with the thumb and the pluck with my index all in one motion... So basically, hit the E string with your thumb and land on the A string, then pluck the E string with your thumb, after your thumb is up, pluck the E string... It takes lots of practice and control, but once you get it, its a piece of cake!!!
There is a pedal made by Visual Sound, its called the V2RT66 Route 66 guitar pedal and is the closest thing to getting the sound of the MB-1, the only thing the pedal doesnt have is chorus, but it has compression and overdrive...
