  • To those who want to trash the American military, remember it's the soldiers who fought that gives you the freedom to do so. To all those who died in that effort, you're more than a name on a wall.

  • HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO ALL SOLDERS WITH A NAME ON THE WALL YOU ARE MORE THAN A NAME

  • I was at Dollywood a couple of years ago and the opportunity to see Jimmy Fortune. He is the lead singer of this. I sat in the first row and when he sang this the memories flowed as did the tears. I could not forget my brothers in arms that did not make it home. After the show I had the chance to talk to him. he said thank you for the sacrifice. He autographed his cd.

  • Thank you for putting together such an awesome set of images that go with a timeless and heart wrenching song. I love the song and your video was inspiring. Gave me chills. Thanks to those that gave all and those that give every day to keep us safe and free!!!

  • I would like to say, that I belive love is more prefurable than hate, that peace is more prefurable than war, that Benjarmin Franklin said "Their never was a good war, nor a bad peace", today I would like to say----Thank you to all the soldiers that have fought, and those who are still fighting today, and to the one's who never came home, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, YOU SACRAFICED BEING WITH YOUR FAMILY TO FIGHT FOR OUR COUNTY, OR SOME ONE ELSES, AND FOR THAT I AM TRULY THANKFUL....Jah bless

  • I have listened to this song each day for the past several days. So very inspiring.

  • It is hard to read some of these comments" you can since the emotions, how can anyone listening to this song not be moved. It makes you so proud to be an American" God bless & keep each and everyone of our service men & women you are our finest"

  • God bless and keep you all safe.

    VN 66-68

  • It was also sung by Jimmy Fortune. I heard it live at Dollywood and brought back a lot of memories and feelings. Been to the wall. As I came out of the walk there is the statue of the three soldiers. I spent about two hours just drinking in the detail.

  • I walked by that wall. So sad.

  • Jimmy Fortune sang it with the Statler Brothers. I saw him in concert years ago singing this song . I t brought tears and it still does as I remember friends that gave the ultimate sacrifice.

  • This is so very precious! Thank you for sharing it with all of us who have watched

young boys come home as Men beyond their years. I was blest. My Daddy came

home from WWII and met his son, my brother, when he was over 6 months old.

Too many wars, too many that didn't come home in the way we would have loved.

Thank you again for this song!!!

  • thank you, dear

  • I am so proud to be called and American. Thank you for all the Services and those who have given the ultimate and to those currently serving. There is a flag outside my house and it will fly till the day i die.

  • froggyfred: Thank you Sgt. God bless you, you are a hero.

  • Been to the wall a few times, the pain is always like the first time. God bless our heroes of yesterday and today. God bless America.

  • Thanks! This is another of my favorite Statler works. It too never fails to generate a big lump in my throat. I made my pilgrimage to The Wall in 2004, something long overdue for a burden was lifted off my shoulders. There I found my uncle's name from 1965 as well as the guys from my unit I knew back in '69 and '70. They will never be forgotten nor will today's fallen heros.

  • God bless you Sgt. I'm a 10th gen Yank who BLEEDS red, white & blue. My family's had peoplein every campaign since 1776, including both sides of the States War. One of my uncles photographed the 1st Japanese aircraft to land on US held soil in 1945. Another landed at Omaha Beach 185 times, ferrying troops from ship to shore. I can't describe the combination of fierce pride and complete unworthiness that I feel when I think of all that's gone into purchasing my freedom. God BLESS you!

  • veterans gave you the ability to say that

  • If this doesn't make you cry, you've got ice water in your veins. Thank you for this stirring video to a beautiful heart wrenching song. God bless and keep our men and women in all the wars this country has, is, and may have to fight.

  • Great......very well done, thanks for posting!!

  • Upon my return for Viet Nam, it was my honor to escourt the fallen from Hickam AFB to the Kapalama Military ID unit. Those memories are still with me. God bless those serving today.

  • This is an excellent post. I've lost several buddies in the current war. I almost didn't come home myself. This past Thanksgiving I went to the homecoming of my old unit, and learned the hard way that my best friend from highschool was on his way to our hometown in a body bag.

  • @MeRavingmadd This really is a beautiful song. It wasn't until I heard the bass that I knew it was the Statler Bros. I had never heard this before and now that I have a son in the sandbox, it really means a lot to me. He has already done battle with one IED.

  • Thank you for this video let us never forget!

  • i have always loved this song since i was a kid but now that i have a son in the military it means so much more to me..thanks for the video and ecspecially to all our military men and women past and present

  • It is hard to write this with tears in my eyes, but thank you so very much. That wall in Washington is so painful to stand before knowing that someone's Father, Brother, Friend conrad in arms never came home. Thank you so very much and May God Bless You.

  • God bless you.

  • God bless our soldiers and their families!!! You are not forgotten and we are grateful to all!! I pray for those who never made it back and for those who made it back and still suffer!!!

  • Thank you for this -it is a beautiful song. My son is in the 1st cav army in Iraq and I worry about him every day - God bless all our servicemen and women, selfless volunteers in these hard times

  • Very beautiful. I cried all over again for all the ones I knew who never made it home.

  • Thanks Rick

  • What a great song and a tearjerker to even an old leatherneck like me. I just got back from Iraq with the Natl Guard as well. There are unfortunately more walls than just THE wall dedicated to Vietnam vets as your vid reflects. The message is clear in the song, these men were just their mothers' baby boys before they belonged to Uncle Sam's finest.

May all their souls find peace and thank you for this tribute to all of them.

  • God bless our troops and what they have done for us.....

gud night and sweet dreams to the men and women who have been lost and deep sympathy to the families who have lost a loved one

    xx

  • there should be a wall for all of our brave men and women....my father and i went to europe two years ago and while visiting a graveyard for americans killed in ww2 were met by an older lady...she asked if we were american...we told her we were....and she told us with tears in her eyes how grateful she was for what we did over there...my dad was a marine...i was navy and my brother...air force...my dads brother was 101st airbourne in nam...he died last year from cancer...God bless all troops

  • I thought it was pretty good but this song was about the soldiers who died in the vietnam war and I don't think you should have included pictures from other wars. The vietnam veterans got so little respect when they came home that it seems like the least that we can do is to give them one moment that is their own.

  • I made this tribute for every soldier lost in all the wars we have fought. I have lost family (some I never knew) in every one of them.

I do respect your opinion and I agree that our Vietnam Vets have never been shown the proper respect they deserve.

    Thank you for watching.

  • Nice job on this. Thanks for doing it.

  • Thank you for your comments !!

    but more than that......

Thank You for your service to this country !!!!

Your Bravery and Patriotism along with all others who have served this country have given me the freedoms I have today to create and share this video.

  • Wonderful song and wonderful video. I was especially touched by the scenes at 1:53 and 2:18. Thanks for posting. You have a talent.

  • Thank you for your kind comments !!

The scene at 2:18 is my favorite one in this video.

I found that picture about a week after I had

finished and posted this video to YouTube.

I knew I had to put it in somewhere so I edited the last 45 seconds and then re-posted

  • Again, what a wonderful video. I watch it almost every night--lest we forget.

  • jiiy fortune puts a lot of feeling into this song.the statlers lucked out when they found him to replace lew. lew was good but jimmy improved their sound,i think jimmy wrote this.

  • I believe Jimmy is a cousin of Don, and Harold.

  • i haven't heard they were related.he very well could be.i remember on the video when he first joined them he looked so young, out of place and really nervous.i love his voice.

  • i hope we do get a memorial for Iraq and Afhganstan

  • unfortunately we'll have to add Afghanistan and Iraq

  • Great Song, I hate war as much as the next guy, but I know at times it is necessary, and I love Patriots, and God bless every Soldier, they are all Heroes, my Father was in World War 1, one of the lucky ones who survived.

  • Amen !! to that barrygioportmorien1

God Bless each and every soldier, those still serving, those that have served with honor, and God Bless and keep those that GAVE ALL !!

I thank your father for his service to this country !!!

  • Have you ever heard "Just Before The Battle Mother" & "Private Wilson White" by Marty Robbins, a Couple of great song in praise of Soldiers.

  • I head a version from Bobby horton who has some cds out called homespun songs of the confederate army. Yes its very appropriate also going to the war is.

  • war is a shame but a necesarry evil do to people like bin laden and huessein. I add our soldiers to my prayers every night. IT is a shame so many have fallen for people who dont even appreciate us.

  • OMG Statler Brothers Awesomne

  • i would like to take this time to thank EVERYONE WHO HAS FOUGHT AND DIED AND TO THOSE WHO ARE STILL WITH US AN TO THOSE WHO CAME HOME AND HAVE SINCE PAST On, AND TO THOSE CURRENTLY SERVING,thank you for your time away from your loved one's to serve our country i still do not belive in war but you are in my prayer's and thoughts every day and cannot wait until you are all back home thank you all and may jah bless each and every one of you(i am not a musslam im a rastafarian)

  • whats the name of this wall?

  • Hello Kevinfromburgdorf

This video has a combination of several tribute walls to honor all of our fallen!!

    ( Vietnam, WW1, WW2, Korea, USS Arizona)

  • thx! ok!

  • I loose a friend in the Iraq war! Miss you!

  • i would just like to say i dont belive in war, their is a better way to handl things than to fight, my grandpa was in ww2, my popo was in pearl harbor(uss tenny) my uncle john was in nam ,as well as my uncle larry, and thy are all gone away now and i will always appriciate what they did for our country(I DO LOVE MY COUNTRY IT'S MY GOVERNMENT THAT IM ARFAID OF)im not against the solders im against the war.

  • I could not agree with you more pigpen7852.

I love my country but our current government is shameful.

War should be the very LAST resort after exhausting all peaceful measures to avoid it.

This video is not pro-war but a remembrance

and tribute to all of our soldies that made the Ultimate Sacrifice

  • this is a sad song

  • The Wall is in Wellsville,NY,starting today,

5-7-08. Thank you so much for this. I cried, but sometimes we need to cry. God bless all our heros of past days and now. Thanks for the video and the memories. God Bless!!

"Thank You Sir for your courage to serve and for the sacrifice you made to keep me and my family safe and for your protection of the freedoms I have to allow me to make and share this video"

  • really really gerat!!! god bless!!!

  • God Bless those who they left behind. The family who laved them. The wifes and girlfriends who moan them even today.

The brothers who came back .. and wonder to this day ... why? Why they returned leaving their brothers behind.

  • God bless all the men and women who have served America!!! To preserve our freedoms. All gave some, some gave all.

  • I still use tube amplifiers even on my DVD player and computer. The sound is so much better

  • I can't sing along with this song without getting a lump in my throat. The Statlers always knew how to pull the heartstrings and I miss their TV shows and their music being played on the radio

  • I am pleased you are as affected by this Statler Brothers song as I now am. I say now because up until a month ago I had never heard this song.

My father, who is a Korean War Veteran and one of the lucky ones to make it back home, is now 78 and lives with me had some old Statler albums ( yes albums! lol ) he had just found.

I, being old school, still have a turntable and the first time I heard this song it gave me the same lump in the throat and I was inspired to do this tribute.

    Peace

  • God Bless you. This video says it all and there's no other group that can sing this song like the Statlers

  • we have to remember they're ALL more than just names on a wall.

    ~

LOVE IT MADD!!! Keep up the good work!

  • Superb.
