Water 4 gas is not a scam..its the law of thermodynamics. A scam usually wants you to buy their product. There are numerous videos online about how to build your own hho system..Soo if it was a scam why are they telling you how to build your own for like 20 bucks? Doesnt make sense does it? Thats because its not a scam. Its knowing how an engine runs and operates. We all know that hydrogen gas in extremely flammable..Soo knowing that you can pull hydrogen from water makes it something to look at
This isn't a 'scam' really, they are just trying to promote the shop. All she says is they take the truck this 'presidential' shop and the shop does some "modifications" to the truck. Who knows what all they installed, we can see a cold air intake for sure. But an intake, t. b. spacer, chip/tune, headers, exhaust, and pulleys could get you the same results, and you don't need 'presidential' to do it- can be done in your own driveway for a couple grand in parts. Who knows what labor cost was.
Using the "fill up" method doent seem like a good way to get results. they should have used a scan gauge or ultra gauge ((if they didnt). that's the only way to get true results. With stop and go traffic, its impossible to get the same miles per speed on any route. even 5 minutes less in traffic one day vs. then next. and at even a 10 mph traffic differance is a huge factor. I vote not accuate. run it on cruise control with a scan gauge then I will accept the reults.
Even if this was true, sure they have computer chips out there that better the timing of an engine, which can give your more MPG's. But the truth is even if you get 5-8MPGs with that kind of mod, your paying out the ass for those mods... Something I believe in is the HHO for fuel.. The oil companies are greedy fuckin dicks, that's why we dont already have HHO tech perfected.
this is bullshit. you can't take a vehicle and drive a predermined route only once and then do a bunch of mods on it, then turn around and drive the same route "once" and then try to convince people that there was a huge MPG gain. to effectively do that test, you would have to have two identical trucks, on with the mods and one without and take them on the same routes at the same time and run them for a few months like that. Then try and say you get an 8 MPG increase.
@chevylt1383 are u retarded? When you add performance parts such as cold air intake and exhaust systems your engine becomes more efficient that's why it makes more power
"sounds too good to be true" seriously? this is 2010. we can make robots that play violin i think i we can make cars that dont depend on freaking liquids that cost your new born.
Another get rich quick scam, just like they say an airfoil will get you 15 hp that only only works with the people who dont know about cars. Try making it lighter and keep youf foot out of it lol.
Hmm. Did I see that the second receipt showed they used high octane fuel? Looks to me they tuned it for high octane fuel, which would allow for more advanced timing and better fuel consumption. They also probably tuned in a lean cruise mode, which would likely not pass emissions, but save fuel. I also see an intake which often gives around a 1-2 mpg gain.
Probably installs a CAI and a chipped ECU to reduce gas flow. What I do know ,for a fact, as an auto tech. is that when any type of change is done to lower the "stock" fuel flow to the engine, there is a proportional adverse negative effect on the engine(cylinder head temperature rise, gasket ruptures, increased pinging/engine knock due to higher cylinder head temps, increased carbon buildup, shortened cat converter life etc).
I put the following into my Silverado to get around 17mpg.
Hypertech Max Energy - $379
Dual exhaust $396
K & N cold air kit - $235
Extang Solid Fold tonneau - $679
That is $1689. I put aftermarket 20" wheels for $1100 on it and that may have actually decreased mpg ar they are a bit heavier than the stock 17" wheels.
to know for sure if it works, they needed to keep it at a costant speed, because maybe on the second drive there was really no trafic, and the person driving was just crusing
I wonder how much the mods cost and how long they last? Can these mods be retrofitted to an older vehicle with the same results? And why pick a truck? Wouldn't a more popular car like a Camry or Accord create more sales because they are the most sold?
adding an air intake and programmer or chip will add some mpg and hp. I can tell you i had it on my silverado before i sold it i took it back to stock and it was a night and day difference.
Oh....I agree, big. But the intake probably lists for $300.00, the install done at a shop would be another $200.00-$500.00 and the chip is another c-note. My point is, if it helps, why didn't the manufacturer do it in the 1st place?? Why aren't they squeezing every mile possible from a gallon of fuel?
the intake is simple the programmer is simple y/n questions. They dont do it because they make these trucks is mass quanity on a assembly line. All the parts are mass made. this is why their called aftermarket products. Their custom modifications.
there are plenty of tweaking of the factory tune in all cars to get more mileage from them. From the factory they have to factor in, hot and cold climates, bad/ low quality fuel, poor maintenance owners and not to mention engine smoothness. To be honest though, a 20mile trip is too small a data collection to call its a test. Run the tank full to empty say 10 times for each scenario and work out the averages. The data pools are too shallow.
I hate studies like this that drive a vehicle a few miles and report the fuel consumption... why not do a real test where you compare maybe 3-5 full tanks of gas... the difference of a gallon they saw here could be due to different traffic conditions, different driving styles, and most likely, filling up the tank differently... i can personally add another 2 litres to my car passed when the nozzle shuts off...
I'm so glad such a bright little grasshopper contributed an insightful 2 cents... The test was duplicated exactly by a 3rd party source. But yeah I wonder if driving conditions on a 47 mile route could result in an 8.8 mpg difference.. SEEMS LIKELY! ;) (on that note I'd again like to comment on how BRIGHT you are) hehe..
this is not a scam i bought a hypertec programmer and a cold air intake and now save 5-15$ a week driving the same way and same rout

it depends on da flow of traffic, speed, acceleration, n other stuff. given dat some modifications do help mpg it wont be significant.

Cool, I might try the Hypertech. I'm getting less than 13MPG on my Camaro.

I don't believe Hypertech makes tuners for cars. Trucks only if I am not mistaken.

I'm pretty sure they make tuners for cars as well. There's a load of their tuners online for sale specifically designed for cars.

true story. i put a volant intake on my 06 sierra a got about 7 or 8 mpg gain. and like at least 15+ hp
metalman1690 3 years ago
same on our charger among other upgrades... it almost does as well as our v6 camry on gas and it's pushing a hemi and a lot more fun to drive :)
presidentialrides 3 years ago
@metalman1690 BS an intake will not gain you 7 to 8 mpg.
It will gain you 2 mpg max. Any other improvements are likely due to improved driving habits and the engine breaking in if it were new.

because of money costs, the same reason ford wasn't putting locking diffs into their trucks until this 09 model
alecthekingg 3 years ago
I don't think that a locking differential would do much to increase gas mileage.
