the liquidator lied to customers now many customers are stuck with their products they paid more than other stores and some of them dont have any tipe of warranty that really sucks, now i know to do not buy from companies that are going out of bussines
Yeah, it really does suck. We should have made a bigger deal in this episode about the NO RETURNS part of things. It's too bad you didn't see this episode before you went to CircuitCity. Keep watching and hopefully we can help save you from future scams!
Nice Video. I really liked your video youtube can be a great asset for you. If you need any help getting your video exposed check out this site called tubeviews [dot net] It has really done wonders for me, I have build 3 channels up with videos at top in position and this is my forth channel i'm going to working on.
As if January 16th, 2008 Circuit City stopped existing. Any and all of the policies were a cause and decision of those 4 liquidation companies. CCity had nothing to do with it at that point.
That's ridicuous! You can't blame the customers for the death of CC!
CC had a lot of stiff competition from big boxes, internet stores, and wholesale retailers. Do you have any idea what CC was up against? Walmart, Best Buy, Kmart, Costco, Sams Club, Target, Amazon, Newegg, and Tiger Direct.
So honestly, you can sulk there in bitterness wishing ill on customers, but you're not living in reality if you think they were the ones responsible for you losing your job or CC dying.
Oh yeah...do you have any idea on the amount of revenue my store has been bringing in since they announced liquidation? Exactly you dont. On average, on a daily basis we took in about 5,000-8,000 more a day! People would come in and pay more! Yes more! Than our regular sale prices, just because we were closing. And then they come in and complain about it not being a deal, or complain about all sales finaldamn right I hope ill of their purchases.
Bash the company, bash the liquidator, but take it easy on the CC employees. If you know anyone who has been laid off and has family, mortgage, etc, then these guys are no different. Like I said in my previous post, the employees are being screwed and then they get bashed on by ppl who don't understand their situation. I can't speak for all of them, but I know some good hard -working ppl there, and they deserve the decency that you would expect at your workplace.
Indeed. Some of the worst kinds of people come in for liquidation sales, I had three bad customers in a row on the first day of liquidation and I had never had a bad customer before (I worked warehouse, but still)
Circuit City is Liquidator-run, so yes thats what liquidators do, jack it to MSRP and then take whatever percent off. The employees have little to no control over that.
Another thing is that the employees are NOT getting severance. The Verizon employee is wrong: CC employees do get the Federal mandated WARN notice, which is 60 days of pay and benefits from day of close. Take note that CC was sold on Jan 16. So basically they're working for the liquidator and not getting jack after that.
AND THIS IS WHY THEY ARE OUT OF FUCKING BUSINESS!!!
But I seriously hate those girls who were like "The lines were too long they only had 2 cashiers." because its like BITCH THEY ALL KNOW THEY ARE OUT OF WORK WHO THE FUCK WANTS TO BE THERE SERVICING YOU SO YOU CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OUR MISFORTUNE!
People don't realize that it's 10% off of MSRP! Not 10% off from their competitors in which I don't know why this show is comparing prices to other companies. As a matter of fact, a lot of companies are trying to keep buyers by lowering their prices to beat their liquidation sales. And of course people want 75% off. They always do. Not only from Circuit City but every other store that has a sale. That's just sums it up to show that people are cheap because of the bad economy.
i used 2 be a mgr of rex tv and people always asked 4 a discount even when we had lower prices. people always want a cheaper price but they dont go 2 the buckle or a clothing store and ask 4 a discount off 200 dollar jeans they pay full price. i never minded giving a discount but it always bugged me when it was the first thing out there mouth.
Actually they are under, so much to the fact that they are taking merchandise from our store and distributing it to others so the company can sell them for higher.
snowman1LOL; not in so many words u dont have 2 do tags anymore..Just the managers have 2 change signs in the store not the associates. I'm not worried about verizon what had done becuase although they were in circuit city they were not a part of it. Verizon just had a running contract with circuit city. And i have said already in a different post that our store the prices are not high at all.
Blown503 You are rude and ignorant. The fact that you can call my Husband a lazy bastard is beyond me becuase he is actually quite the opposite. HE is the only one running his ass for a company that has died. He put so much into it and for what. A Dumb ass CEO that didnt know his head from his asswhole. No i dont think so. The tag changing is a pain. At least that arent changing every induvidual tag on every item. O boy that would be annoying to say the least.
also the prices are not marked up they just went back to their regular price , alot of items were on sale all the time before liquidation now regular price , then the liquidators take their %s off. for example a printer cc normally ran --free with purchase of desktop---now no longer free ..... no package discounts.....no %s off sale prices , cc nor the associates are in charge of any pricing
not getting 6 mths pay----no severence that verizon guy does not know what hes talking about. at most if the store qualifies for warn, then associates will be paid for 60 days from announcement date.
Actually no he's partially correct. They are using the MRSP but the prices are still lower in our store then they ever were b4. My husband works for a store and knows how the pricing is going after all he is the one that has to change it every fricking week to a new lower price. Its actually rather annoying i think to him. I am still not sure what store you did the price compairing on but thats not what is happing here at our store!
Well I can't speak for your husband or his store, but this episode was shot in New York's Union Square Circuit City location - and similar stories and numbers can be found nationwide.
I'd recommend telling all your friends to shop at your husband's store if the prices are that good! Plop that stuff on eBay!!
Yea, our store is still over priced. And the reason your husband finds changing prices annoying is because he is a lazy bastard. Circuity city employees never really had to do much work, all they had to do was just show up.
Dude where were you shoping at. The stores are not doing that mark up. what ever store that is can get into a lot of trouble becuase out here all that stuff in the video is cheaper then that in our store.
I believe what StealthTracey is talking about when mentioning a "markup" is that the "discounts" are being taken off the MSRP. Almost no "big-box" retailers ever sell goods at the MSRP. So BEFORE the liquidation, the price was less than it was AFTER the liquidation started, when the MSRP was used as a basis for any mark-downs.
So Stealth is technically correct, the prices could have been lower than they are now during the liquidation, which is a mark UP.
helliott25, you are the one that is rude and needs to do a reality check, I would think I would be a little more concerned with the false advertising for associates of circuit city that the verizon guy was doing than worring about tags that we do not have to deal with anymore. Also, the prices are to high. enough said

LOL...liquidation tactics!
I was there watching people buy multiple TVs impulsively that i knew where over $300 cheaper at other stores...even with circuit city's 10+% off
No joke
I also was chatting with the workers and they thought it was sad too.
Im glad I knew the prices at other places.

There were in fact 4 separate liquidation companies. None of those companies were "CC" and none were Circuit City either. Read a book.
