Harrah and Portsmouth seem to be under the delusion that what a team did in the 1970s means more than actually playing hockey.
The Pens are better than the Flyers now, and instead of facing it maturely, Portsmouth and other misguided Flyers fans feel the need to post in every comment section of every youtube video that the 1970s weren't a good time for the Penguins. I say, "we'll be waiting in the 21st century," because it seems that some can't face today, and instead focus on 30 years ago.

2008 is history, too. Enjoy last season, bitter Pens fans, because it's as good as the Pens will be for the next decade. Hossa and others hit the road (happy trails to them). Oh, also chumley, 2nd place to the Pens in 2008 means little as well, too. Right now, with recent signings and transactions of the Flyers, Philly is easy as good as the Pens - probably better (next season). And the Pens will go back to their typical mediocre ways. Oh, and the Flyers owned the Pens in the 80's and 90's...

The Flyers void was defense, genius, and their team was without their to best d-men against the Pansy Pens. And the Flyers still did quite well. The Flyers have made the playoffs the past fifteen seasons before their 2007 debacle (not to be confused as mediocrity since they made the playoffs every year, something for which your Pens cannot boast). Your bitterness as a Pens fan and illiteracy as a hockey fan are both blaitant and humorous. So stereotypical of Pens fans, aha!

We also have two out of the three best players in the eastern conference. The Pens also signed a handful of decent surrounding players. We lost some toughness, which can be replaced.
But how we will ever compete with the still mediocre Flyers is beyond me!

It's either next year or years ago in your mind. Worry about right now and how your team hasn't changed anything.

What is more funny is the Pens inferiority complex. Well-earned, if you ask me. PA decided to salvage another Burgh team ...Tho it keeps things exciting, confrontational, and the rivalry (mostly one-sided) is intact.
Congrats on winning your first playoff series against the Flyers (EVER), finishing second place to the vastly superior WIngs - the sorry presense the pens displayed. All-too-fun to watch & predictable, from my vantage point. It's the closest the pensies will get for some time.

2. The Pens were hurt with injuries and had a mediocre defense. But they still won games. The Flyers didn't. Nice excuses.

4. Nope, wrong again. It's the past defining the present. The Flyers proved a great deal from two years ago going into last year. Without Forsberg a couple years ago, and the immediate impact of a salary cap, the Flyers were crippled. The salary cap and first rounders (from earlier in the decade - with the Pens missing the playoffs was good timing for this year, the closest the Pens will get to a cup).

Injuries, nonetheless, to the Flyers two best defensemen. That's not "bitching", that's an undeniable fact. Your only point is the Pens won a series in the playoffs - which led them to a loss in the finals. Whoopty-do. Congrats to the Redwings. And you claim the signings are favoring the Pens. The Flyers have a great deal of depth offensively and are in need of defense. Yet they still made it to the conference finals, from dead last in 07. I consider that remarkable-to say the least. The irony is that if the Flyers had beaten the Pens and had lost to the Wings, you'd be bragging about how they beat the Penguins. The Wings were going to beat any eastern team (save for MAYBE Montreal).
The Pens were next to last in 2006, but they seemed to do well for themselves in the past two years. I'm not bitter, considering that the team was going to move and now is one of the best in the east.

You signed Met, who played all 82 games in a year and scored a whole ten goals. The Flyers aren't as solid as you'd like them to be.
