The problem with the Lacey Act....even the feds are admitting that they are enforcing this law....SELECTIVELY. If a law can't be applied to all, and enforced accordingly, then what good is it? The Lacey Act needs to be amended, or repealed. Consumers should have something IN WRITING that states that the Federal Government will not go after them. Gibson should be allowed a settlement, or at least a court date. And companies and businesses should be given guidelines on how to comply with this law.
I own gibson guitars and consider myself a fan. Before I buy another Gibson, however, I want to be sure that the wood Gibson uses is harvested responsibly. Rather than launching internet campaigns full of political accusations and rhetoric, Gibson should simply reassure their customers by cooperating fully with the investigation and proving their innocence through legal action.

They interviewed a guy from a band called "Shitkilla," I think that pretty much cedes the argument to those of us who aren't dipshits. They aren't abusing Gibson, Gibson was legitimately busted and caught with their hands in the cookie jar...that's it. Pull yourselves off the cross and start making guitars that are worth the prices you assholes charge.
If wood costed 3 times as much in North America as it does in asia or europe we would be stupid not to purchase it elsewhere. The government is forcing manufacturers to use over priced materials. Why are those materials over priced? Inflation! Why is there inflation? To keep the poor man poor and the rich man on top with foot firmly placed so the poor can't squirm. Just because our Gov destroys our economy don't mean we gotta be forced to buy local if local is a rip off. This ain't freedom.

If you walk into a store, grab a $5 case of soda and run out without paying and the cops catch you they're not going to say "You're lucky there are serial killers, rapists and drug dealers around or we'd run you in, now go home." I own 2 Thunderbirds & hope that Gibson is clean, but they're not giving me confidence. There are a few simple questions they could answer, but they haven't.
