I don't think Bach, Mozart, or Beethoven sound contemporary. Contemporary would be anything rock and roll, hip hop, or the like. There are some modern 'classical' pieces...however I consider them to be old fashioned. I like this old music much better than anything 'contemporary' however :)
We live in a time where music is only limited by the performers skill and the composers insight. The muse never left, you just cannot profit so heavily from it anymore. And to real musicians none of that should matter. If you have seen no local live music this week, you are doing yourself a disservice as a music lover. Listen and love all music, you can find it everywhere.
Bach is the greatest composer and musical master of Western Music! He is so close to God with his soaring imagination and depth of understanding. I personally don't know if I believe in God, but Bach brings me to God anyhow. His melodies are so beautiful! His orchestrations so flawless and multifaceted; his fugues so intense and brilliant; his music so challenging to complacency in every way, so forward looking; his mind searching the cosmos for the perfect means to express its grandeur.

It is absurd to attempt segregating a religious musical work from its religious historical context. It is even more absurd to assail the discussion of religion by people who associate this religious musical work with religion.
@MrLivePositive8 Well whether you precieve it as spiritual or more specific such as glorifying the God of the Bible doesn't really matter.
What matters is that Bach, who believed that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God wrote much of his music with that in mind. You may dislike it, and you may not be a christian, but that doesn't change what Bach believed.
@audiostratus Yep, even his "secular" music had something to do with glorifying God. That was the reason he wrote music. Its funny how people who hate religion, especially Bible Christianity, but will listen to Bach. That would be like me hating metal heads, but listening to metal! Does not make sense. On the top corner of his music he would write, "to the glory of God". Bach only lived 200 years or so after Luther ripped Germany out of the clutches of the Vatican!
@Joshuajlawn It's the whole "new atheist" movement where you're seeing these brainless bigots being snooty and what not. I just had a chat with a female atheist who was acting high and mighty on deviantart by telling her that this so-called movement is pale in comparison with the atheists and secular movements in history -- people back then didn't rely on bigotry as now, but their own intelligence and rational thought to inspire the masses.
@CosmicGrounds People have always relied on bigotry, I was raised in a Catholic family but don't believe in God. Not all atheists are like that. Also please look at how corrupt and violent the church used to be back in medieval Europe. I am not trying to act all high and mighty, history shows us that there is little intelligence in religion.
@ThathertonGaston Is it really religion or is it those who either fail to think for self or those who hide their wicked propaganda, ignorance, hatred, and personality disorder behind religion as a cover up? It's easier to reason that certain people must be exterminated, because a deity said so, as opposed to openly exterminate others because they want to.
Oh, and what exactly is intelligence? What's the universal definition of intelligence?
@ThathertonGaston There are people who make both good and bad decisions regardless of belief. Stalin and Mao were atheists who murdered millions, while Zackie Achmat, founder of (TAC) against HIV and AIDS, and Bill Gates spends his money immunizing African children, both men are atheists.
Hey, my first comment on youtube, ever! :) I love Bach. I don't want to argue about anything. Just to say that Bach did write "sdg", meaning "soli deo gloria", on most of his songs - he wanted God to get the glory through his songs. So it is not a nonsense association. @soleafar22: It's good you came for the music. Enjoy it!! :) Whatever your beliefs.
Yes, Bach, I understand how one can touch the human mind so profoundly. Yes Bach can. My feeling is that this will be for many generations to come as well same touch. just so human.
@thomasey2 In my opinion Bachs music seems almost beyond human. As one man said "Listening to Beethoven makes you feel like Beethoven. Listening to Mozart makes you feel human. Listening to Bach makes you feel like the universe."
@Themightyblunghole I don't think Bach wrote a note of music that wasn't in praise of God. His inspiration was always a spiritual one. That might be one reason for it's lofty quality.
guys is it wierd that sometimes classical music makes me masturbate. like i can just masturbate listening to classical music, not even thinking about any girls. just wanted to ask that question.
@TerminusEst13 Shouldn't be that surprising - Bach was the most devout of all classical masters. Mozart and Schubert were church-going Catholics but hardly the devout type and Beethoven believed in a vague "infinite deity." Bach, however, read his Bible scrupulously, was a lifelong Church musician and signed all his cantatas "Soli Deo Gloria," "to God alone be the glory." Beyond Bach's personal beliefs, his music seems to evoke some sense of divine beauty in most who hear it.
@gamerfreak5665 why not? his religion was an important influence on his music... The main topic cannot be about God existence but about religion beliefs in his time!
@Sanotaru92 im just saying that a music video is not the right place to be talking about religion. I have no problem talking about religion in a video about religion.
@Sanotaru92 If you're not thinking or talking about Christ when listening to Bach then you don't understand his music. Bach was a Lutheran Kantor in Leipzig, Germany. As Kantor he was responsible for writing liturgical music for the churches of Leipzig. He was also in charge of Christian education in the town, which meant that he was theologically trained. Bach's music is interlaced heavily with Christian theology and themes. That's why he's often called the 5th Evangelist.
@TerminusEst13 Bach was a Lutheran Kantor!! Every song he composed was solely devoted to his religious beliefs and his God!! If you understood the true nature behind Bach's compositions you wouldn't be saying that
@TerminusEst13 I guess it's because Bach takes people somewhere up in the stratosphere where if there is a God, he must reside. Hard to believe something like this was created by a mere mortal.
when you are reading thid do not stop or something bad will happen! (sorry about this) this girl's name is summer she is 15 years old and has blonde hair, many scars, and she has no ear. She is dead. If you don't copy this to more than 5 videos, she will appair one dark quiet night when you are not expecting it beside your bed with a knife and going to kill you. This is no joke. If you send this on 5 more videos something good will happen to you......sorry i dnt wanna die
@shanelololol The absurdity of what you just suggested is astonishing. You are saying that before the bible people were savages? This must mean that the people of ancient Greece and Rome never created the standard for politics and law 2000 years before your great book.
@November10th1775USMC some books from the bible were written before ancient greece and rome, thath doesn´t mean that i´m agree with the savage subjet but you should read a little bit more before writte...sorry about my english
@Danmelodicdeath Are you retarded, I'm seriously asking? The christian fairy tail goes like this.. Jesus was born in 0AD, Ancient Rome was formed in like 4000BC, Ancient Greece in the same time period. Now ask your self this, how could it be that the Christian Bible was written before Jesus was even born. Its been proven to be written 100s of years after his death.. You truly are a fucking idiot.
@November10th1775USMC O_O sorry dude i didn´t know that you don´t know the old testament like exodus leviticus numbers, etc...the christian bible have this books before the new testamente, and those were written way before jesus was born...ja...maybe you don´t have a complete bible...again sorry about my english
@Danmelodicdeath Again, saying that you are complete and utterly wrong is an understatement. The old testement also known as the torah, was the jewish book of worship, still written thousands of years after the formation of both Ancient empires I mentioned before.
@November10th1775USMC Actually, the writing of the Torah precedes both Greek and Roman civilizations. I guess if you use a late date it's right around the time of the rise of Greek culture. But the (initial) Old Testament precedes the founding of Rome, much less anything that can be called an "empire", by hundreds of years. The New Testament, of course, was composed/assembled in the first few centuries CE...
@osiris0413 Haha, I don't know where you get your facts. But know this, i'm far to intelligent to feed into your bullshit. Judaism says Moses brought down the 10 commandments 3300 years ago, but by combining the independent sources of 4 Jewish scholars and 1 Christian preist, scientists put the date of the torahs composition at 450 BC. Now in 753 Rome was founded as a kingdom, much before that a city state. Now even if your theory were true, what were Romans and Greeks doing with the Torah?

@Sanotaru92 im just saying that a music video is not the right place to be talking about religion. I have no problem talking about religion in a video about religion.
gamerfreak5665 2 months ago
@gamerfreak5665
The song is telling those sleeping to awake for the Lord is coming.
Trim your wick for the Lord is returning.
it is based on Gospel of Matthew 25:1-13 and the parable of the virgins.
Of course it's the right place to discuss religion, this song is about religion, the one true religion that of YHWH and HIS Son Yeshua.

@lelouchmagnet12 who the fukk' comes here for religion?? i came for his music, moreover he made this music not "God"...
listen to it,like it, and stop arguing about non sense assosiation

@soleafar22 Yes, most of his music was religious, but I agree with you.

@TerminusEst13 I guess it's because Bach takes people somewhere up in the stratosphere where if there is a God, he must reside. Hard to believe something like this was created by a mere mortal.
jlakendra 2 months ago
@TerminusEst13 Well it is religious music.
autumnreign78 1 month ago
@TerminusEst13 Well there's nothing strange about that. After all, most, if not all of Bach's music was based on religion and his devotion to God.
calicolombiano27 1 month ago 3
@TerminusEst13 Almost all of his music was religious. That could have sparked the debate.

@amazingwave Because the church was the highest paying patron at the time if you weren't writing music for a nobleman.

@shanelololol The absurdity of what you just suggested is astonishing. You are saying that before the bible people were savages? This must mean that the people of ancient Greece and Rome never created the standard for politics and law 2000 years before your great book.
November10th1775USMC 3 months ago
@November10th1775USMC some books from the bible were written before ancient greece and rome, thath doesn´t mean that i´m agree with the savage subjet but you should read a little bit more before writte...sorry about my english
Danmelodicdeath 3 months ago
@Danmelodicdeath Are you retarded, I'm seriously asking? The christian fairy tail goes like this.. Jesus was born in 0AD, Ancient Rome was formed in like 4000BC, Ancient Greece in the same time period. Now ask your self this, how could it be that the Christian Bible was written before Jesus was even born. Its been proven to be written 100s of years after his death.. You truly are a fucking idiot.
November10th1775USMC 3 months ago
@November10th1775USMC O_O sorry dude i didn´t know that you don´t know the old testament like exodus leviticus numbers, etc...the christian bible have this books before the new testamente, and those were written way before jesus was born...ja...maybe you don´t have a complete bible...again sorry about my english
Danmelodicdeath 3 months ago
@Danmelodicdeath Again, saying that you are complete and utterly wrong is an understatement. The old testement also known as the torah, was the jewish book of worship, still written thousands of years after the formation of both Ancient empires I mentioned before.

@November10th1775USMC sorry dude maybe you are right...wikipedia save you ja good source
Danmelodicdeath 3 months ago
@Danmelodicdeath Its called a book..
November10th1775USMC 3 months ago
@November10th1775USMC Actually, the writing of the Torah precedes both Greek and Roman civilizations. I guess if you use a late date it's right around the time of the rise of Greek culture. But the (initial) Old Testament precedes the founding of Rome, much less anything that can be called an "empire", by hundreds of years. The New Testament, of course, was composed/assembled in the first few centuries CE...
osiris0413 3 months ago
@osiris0413 Haha, I don't know where you get your facts. But know this, i'm far to intelligent to feed into your bullshit. Judaism says Moses brought down the 10 commandments 3300 years ago, but by combining the independent sources of 4 Jewish scholars and 1 Christian preist, scientists put the date of the torahs composition at 450 BC. Now in 753 Rome was founded as a kingdom, much before that a city state. Now even if your theory were true, what were Romans and Greeks doing with the Torah?
