This is why I loved being a kid who grew up in the 80s. I was 13 when Rad came out. It IS tough to find it anywhere nowadays. Not even the local libraries have it. The BMX freestyling and stunts were great, but the whole 80s culture: big hair, ripped jeans, the best TV shows, the best movies and the music was on point. The songs actually HAD lyrics, lol. URCCougar, thanx so much for posting this videos. It took me back, lol.
remember being on the set when this was being shot, and the lighting was so bad. it's amazing this was successful. took about three hours to film the entire dance scene. i miss being an extra.
Grew up in the 80's, in the height of BMX and Freestyle, Mountain Dew, The Blue Whale and the ever popular SKYWAY, WOOHOO, Long live the memories. To all the post cell/iPad/computer humans, "YOU MISSED OUT, IT WAS RAD"!!!!!!!!!!
Movie was never released on DVD. Why not is the big question. Although they were selling copies of RAD on DVD on eBay it isn't an actual release. Just a VHS quality transfer to DVD. Hopefully they just skip DVD release and put it on Blu-Ray. I know I'm dreaming.
This movie would have been better if they cleaned up the language a little bit. It would have been more kid friendly . I never thought it made the movie any better to throw in some four letters words. Maybe it was more realistic, but not better.
Without a doubt my favorite movie from my childhood. "Don't tell Mom the Babysitter's dead" comes in at a close second, but I probably watched "Rad" about 500 times and right after each time I'd storm out of the house and onto my bike :D
i remember watching this movie as a kid and then going outside on my bike and building a big ramp....and doing a faceplant on the gravel road. it was pretty RAD
1. That is the chick from "FULL HOUSE" 2. Dude doing her stunts- and very well and with a sweet afro mullet. 3.That drunk dude's voice disgusts me...he needs to clear his throat or something. 4. Who does stunts in tight slacks and a chiffon sequins-UNLESS she is a drag queen .
I love this movie!! I remember as a kid going to the video store with my grandpa and everytime I would rent this and bloodsport and my grandpa was just laugh and shake his head. Then I would go and try to do the tricks hyped up kn that 80 s music lol
I have been waiting for him to do this movie as well, I have even felt like recommending it to him. However as much as I would love to see that review I would probably also be a little upset while watching it because this is one of my favorite movies of all time.
I am female and have a younger sister and we weren't into bikes so I never saw this growing up. I feel like I have missed so much! Everytime my boyfriend go to rent it from our video store (independently owned) it is checked out. haha! Its like totally his most favorite 80s movie. I want to see it too but his disappointment always makes me laugh inside.
ehh, this isn't the first bmx movie, bmx bandits in the 70's predated this. staring a young, but now world renound actress, a young nicole kidman at the age of 12-14ish
This movie brings brings back so many memories I remember my friends and I would watch it and then go out and try every trick in the movie , I thought Lori Loughlin was so cute lol , The 80's was a great decade ! some might say it was RAD!!!!
ha ha at :13 he has no rotor then he does that 360 on the bike lol so funny and so many mistakes in this movie , but its one of my favorite movies of al time
A generation defining movie. Bmx is all we had, all we cared about. Of course none of my friends or myself had the money to race but you wouldn't have known by the way we rode. We lived on our bikes. The 80's were a special time, i wish some of you kids, and mine could have seen it. It was Rad!
@MrLajoieable Rad and back to the future were the movies my family lived by. Me and all of my brothers raced and we loved it. I only got to race for 3 years because as you said, shit is expensive. Best years of my life though, I look back and remember how happy I was on my bike giving it my all against the other kids that were there. Fun times man, fun times.
@MrLajoieable i miss the 80's so bad. no internet, no cell phones. people had to actually converse fae to face back then. we had creativity. wish i had a time machine so i could go back to that simpler time.
Is RAD out on dvd at all? This was my favorite movie when I was like 5, and I still have my original vhs but it crapped out on me in August. So I can't watch it anymore but I cant throw out the broken vhs cus of too many good memories!! Awesome movie!!!!
I love that movie. I remember watching it as a kid. Back in the day when the new kids on the block were awesome. Lol. Times have changed, but this movie is still rad.
I swear...Lori Loughlin doesn't age. She still looks amazing. btw, how in hell did the producers come up with the idea to have an olympic gymnast play the role of a bmx superstar? lol
every kid that watched this movie would jump on the bike and hit the streets right after it was over and try every trick in the book. Usually ended up with some scraped up elbows. LOL!!!!
@matt24d1 One time, as I tried to pull a wheely going down a hill, I actually broke my arm, scrapped the upper portion of my lip off, sprained my ankle, and had the cranks land on the back of my head. Seven stiches, a cast, and a half pint of blood. I was eating apple sauce out of a straw for a few weeks. LOL!!!!
Damn! Man I appreciate you. So that's the name of that movie! This movie is the only way I know this song! Haven't seen it in years. Gotta find this movie... onward Google!!!
the 80's were the greatest time to be a kid or a teen
I was 10 years old when I first saw this movie
I watched it with my parents on movie night
this movie inspired me but since I was only 10 I was stuck with my small bike till I was 12 when my father took me in the garage on Christmas day after opening all my presents, and there was my new BMX bike that I immediately started doing tricks on
I was ten or eleven when this movie came out. My three racing friends and I would watch the hell out of this movie and then go out and try doing some freestyle I sucked but blamed it on my bike so I convinced my dad to go buy a dyno comp with fold down pegs so I wouldn't $@!& up my haro. God I'm getting old but the memories are the best.
One of the best 80's movies ever. Rented this like once every couple of months as a kid, and even recorded all the songs with a tape recorder from the TV lol. Best's voice (the team Mongoose owner) is so nasal it's scary - dude must be a hell of a snorer.
WOW......this brings back so many memories. I remember being so excited when my older brother won a red BMX bike for me at the Georgia state fair back in the late 80's. I thought I was the shiznit! =)
Wow I'm 35 and I don't remember this movie at all, I'm surprised others my age do. I was in 10 in 1985 and was into the BMX craze in 4th and 5th grade but I never heard of this film. The Send me an Angel song from 1989's The Wizard brought me here. Maybey I was too busy watching Knight Rider, though the chick at 4:16 is very familiar looking.

@vigo894 oh look another nostalgia whore. Yes the truth hurts, it hurts the fact that his life has gone so far down the tubes since his parents broke up and now the only thing good in the world too him is the past.
I'm just listening to this song so I can impress a girl
