They want you to apply so they can reject you to keep selectivity high, enjoy a $75 application fee (which is not spent on updating dorm fixtures), and game rankings. Full disclosure, I didn't bother with them.

I was amused when in the video they showed a dorm student using the same sink as FDR. Kids literally kill themselves with competition to get into Harvard, and once there, many are forced to live in run-down dorms more than 60-years old. Ivy League has a notorious reputation for having very small & cramped dorms, and Harvard is no exception.

I go to a public university, and I am glad to say that I live in dorms that are of better quality than that of Harvard's. It's a sad thing really.

Y literraly kill urself studying to get in this school, and even after u get in u have to study ur ass off... im not saying studiying is bad, but i saw this documantary on students trying to get in and they got no more then 6 hours sleep a day.... and for wat? to say u graduated from harvard?? its all bullshite.. driving a piece of shit tradition.. just go to ur home states university and graduate. unless something big like law school, but in my opionion, its not worth it... Persistance in a tradition, whether it be lobster fishing or being involved in the mariachi band, is rooted in their core mission. One of the most unique facets of Harvard is its emphasis on achievement in a tradtion rather than how renown the traditon is. Unfortunately, those who can't afford to pursue a tradition has 0 chance of being admitted.

In short, Harvard looks for accomplishment [whether significant or not] and further potential to accomplish.

I'm doubtful about my admittance. I've a passion for a lot of things but among my list of passions are special interests that my family and I simply can't afford. Self teaching is the way to go but achievement via that road is hard to come by.

I doubt any Harvard admission officers would take that into consideration. But that's just my take of Harvard.

I envy and crave the atmosphere that Harvard offers but I feel as though the competition is ridiculous. Harvard may claim to disregard privilege in their admission process but I see otherwise.

I'm also irked by the rumors that no other colleges instill such a similar tradition and harbor a similar atmosphere at their campus. Please prove me wrong.
