What kind of economy did we live in where a video game Pitfall) cost a little more then half the price of the system it was played on (Atari 2600) ? Man, I now know I am losing it!
When did Wheel move to WPLG? I think I remember seeing J! and Wheel on that channel when I had Primestar and they still were legally allowed to carry out of market stations.
@jwgreek8606 The only stations that are legally carried out of market these days are the Superstations on Dish Network, along with if you don't have a local affiliate of a given network, in which case you can get a waiver, unless you have cable, in which case, they'll possibly carry something from the next market.
Vanna almost looked anorexic here look how scrawny she is! She still looks good today but yet have to wonder if she took any bites at all during her first few years(after '82) Then I remember grandma breaking the news of her pregnancy/pregnancies and I wondered how she'd do the show and if they'd use her for the bump, get great maternity clothes and just pre-empt(repeats) while on maternity clothes. I don't think there was a fill-in. I can't remember.
@Metlhd313 yep I think Nintendo was already being in the works as it was placed on shelves by 85. I wonder if there's a big 25th ann to commerorate all these big intendo inventions. It's gotten utterly ridiculous(yes I was one of the 80's children playing)
compare this episode to an episode of Wheel of Fortune now. Before Pat and Vanna close out the show now, they exchange in some friendly banter. Compare some episdoes of 80s Wheel to now and see the differences!

I'm thinking this is from 11/16/84 or 11/23/84, probably 11/16/84, given Dukes of Hazzard airing on Friday nights IIRC and the references to Black Friday in the Jefferson Ward ad(BF was 11/23 that year)
When you see ads like this it's amazing just how expensive toys were back then. Considering the difference in incomes to now, a $48 game system and $29 cartridges must have seemed out of reach for many. Guess everything wasn't made in China back then, either.

Jefferson Ward, for those in the know, was an offshoot subsidiary of Montgomery Ward.

@johnissoevil the fact that they can't carry out of market anymore, makes me hate politics more and more buddy.

@entertainme3000 There were no fill-ins because Vanna's offspring were born during the summer reruns.

01:49, that's future "Family Matters" star Jaleel White (aka: Steve Urkel) in the Toys R Us ad.

Wow, weird to see the Atari still being shilled in 1984, especially considering this was post-crash.

@Metlhd313 The Ataris had astronomically dropped in price at this point from just 3 years prior.

@jwgreek8606 To be honest with you,I don't like Wheel at all now, even considering all the technological advances to the gameboard and such.
