Thanks for this footage! The scaled-down club feel of the 1998 tour (the first one I saw) still looks pretty great. Unlike the next couple of tours that try to look large and all over the place while avoiding the expenses of the Devotional production..

As for the song...No...it wasn't Daves finest. But as has been said before, Dave was recovering from years of destructive behavior. Just be thankful he sounded astonishing on Ultra. I hope if they do this song again, He will sing more true to his performance on Black Celebration, and they play it as the song sounded in 86' rather than change the sounds around...

I remember thinking on this tour that it was the least energetic I had ever seen Dave, but man did he sound great!

True. But this was their first tour since Devotional and Dave made no secret out of the fact that he was terrified to be on tour again. I saw them at MSG and I thought they rocked the house. I still remember this dance move he did with his hips during It's No Good and again during Everything Counts. Still gives me chills. Amazing.

But yeah, he just looked uninterested most of the time. Watch the Mtv recorded video of this tour. It's so noticable compared to past and later tours. It took a lot for him to do this, and I totally appreciate his courage. DM forever!

The Cologne show? Well, that was pretty early on in the tour. But from watching the Never Let Me Down performance, he did bring the camera out to film the audience. Dave seemed pretty into the crowd. But all I know is that by the time they got to NYC, Dave was really into it and he rocked the stage.
