omg dave is so hot i cant stand it. Id strip him down to the bone! and can i just say that martin is brilliant! he is an amazingly talented muscian. WOW. vocals, talent, presence, and music- they defintley have the right chemistry!
@haroof why would you say that..are you from philly or s.jersey..that is where we saw all our concerts..the spectrum was a great place to see shows....but i respect your view
I love this band and the song is sublime. Every once in a while you get a band or an artist that really changes things, and this is one of them. BTW If you like this check out my music, it has a similar kind of vibe.
Thanks for this footage! The scaled-down club feel of the 1998 tour (the first one I saw) still looks pretty great. Unlike the next couple of tours that try to look large and all over the place while avoiding the expenses of the Devotional production..
YEAH!!! This look is great, but the Devotional Tour stage was the best in my opinion. And c'mon it can't be that expensive for a stage like that nowadays.
I love this guy music voice & band music original stripped version song & then Rumstein, Remake with the heavy Guitar's at the end mix video always a favorite song of mine thx....
My other tribute coming been feeling sick guy's.... no insults intended...
i found a very cool band GIRL MEET GIRL-YOU BURN MY HEART,they remind linkin park meets depeche mode, shiny toy guns, placebo, him, the rasmus,i found theyr video by acident on youtube, best band ever and now my fav band.
As for the song...No...it wasn't Daves finest. But as has been said before, Dave was recovering from years of destructive behavior. Just be thankful he sounded astonishing on Ultra. I hope if they do this song again, He will sing more true to his performance on Black Celebration, and they play it as the song sounded in 86' rather than change the sounds around...
You've to realize this was the tour where he had to reinvent himself after his drugoverdose wich almost killed him. I think the singles tour was much better then the last one. But hey that's my opinion
depeche mode is the greatest LIVE band the world has ever known..thank GOD I grew up in the 80's.Dave is the greatest lead singer of all time.ROCK ON DAVE!!
True. But this was their first tour since Devotional and Dave made no secret out of the fact that he was terrified to be on tour again. I saw them at MSG and I thought they rocked the house. I still remember this dance move he did with his hips during It's No Good and again during Everything Counts. Still gives me chills. Amazing.
Yes friend, I know the whole story. After all, I'm one of the devout.
But yeah, he just looked uninterested most of the time. Watch the Mtv recorded video of this tour. It's so noticable compared to past and later tours. It took a lot for him to do this, and I totally appreciate his courage. DM forever!
The Cologne show? Well, that was pretty early on in the tour. But from watching the Never Let Me Down performance, he did bring the camera out to film the audience. Dave seemed pretty into the crowd. But all I know is that by the time they got to NYC, Dave was really into it and he rocked the stage.
There was a version of this where the anvil percussion was really pronounced and where Dave almost lost it on stage and the audience picked it up. Some of the best live footage I've ever seen, I swear to God. Does anyone know where/when this was so I can track it down???

I really hate Rammstein, they can't sing for shit and ruined this song! The original Depeche Mode version and the Scooter cover are awesome!

Is there an official release of the singles tour on CD?
UncleSamFisher 1 year ago
@UncleSamFisher No, there aren't. I guess bootlegs of the MTV Cologne and the KROQ christmas performances are the most decent of what's available.

He was in a shit state here, but the voice is strong.
2009 and he's (long time) clean and the new album is another new adventure.
Can't believe this after 25 years. Outstanding.
So excited about the new album.

Dave Gahan is a really great vocalist, i saw him live in Rome 2007, but here is boring and tired, one of his worse performance, lets admit it!

Did Dave have long hair? Were the backgrounds of torsos? in that case it could have been the devotional tour..
Chrispoffer 4 years ago
It sounds like the 101 performance. Dave got really emotional and the audience started singing it, if I recall correctly.
