  • @Zanator1 OK. Are you light sensitive? I was right then, whatever you mean with that GTFO - you are amusing :))))

  • @SerskiGuslar Not sensitive, just not willing to start an argument with a random troll on the internet. I wonder how others can make a life out of fighting over the internet.

  • @Zanator1 So why do you offend the Poles? You may be a troll from my point of view as you offend any nation as a whole.

  • thank god they are all gone

  • We can almost see that the Burgenland is never austrian before Hungary

  • 1440 - lost to poland?

please explain what poland has to do with that land?

  • @Superchickenman159

This land was't lost because never was part of Austra.Hungary in that time was ruled by king from Habsburg family, but when he died crown take Kazimierz IV Jagiellończyk - king of Poland and Lithuenia from Jagielonian dynasty - bigest dinasty in that time. Jagielonian ruled in Poland, Lithuenia, Bohemia and Hungary - Almost all central and estern europe.

  • Austria never ruled Spain, the dynasty did but never Austria itself.

  • @gb555ify you missed the point, back then there was no Austria but The Habsburgic Empire....

  • The Habsburg empire was just a ragtag collection of various ethnic territories with no intrinsic loyalty to each other. It had no internal unity. Its major historic consequence was to prevent any German unification until 1870.

  • 'Me gusta'

  • Gebt uns ruhig die Schuld (den Rest könnt ihr behalten)

  • I don't know why are everyone so delighted with the German Empire, I see Austria as much greater achievement.Germans were majority in the German Empire,in almost every province, they had longer shore, more population, and yet, they were unified for 70-80 years, while Austrians were a minority in their own state, and yet they ruled others for centuries, they were Austria when they had about 25% of Austrian population. Now that's an achievement.Although we were enemies, one big greeting from old Serbia.

  • @zperic1 This clip do not show the full History of Austria.

Austria was a German state in the German Empire(holy roman Empire) and for centuries the Austrian Archdukes were the German Emperor. During the Napoleon era, Franz II dissolved the holy roman Empire and formed the austrian empire. Until the Austro-Prussian War (also called German War or German Civil War) 1866 Austria was the Head of the German Confederation.

  • @Ajunta Dude, I am aware of that facts. But HRE was not an Empire. There was no firm hand to lead it. It was a loose union of territories who had their own rulers and their own foreign policy. And from 16th century to the 20th century Austria and A-H later on is the empire that is really multicultural and yet so strong. On the other hand we have N. Germans with their loose territorial alliance and an Empire that lasted from 1871 to 1918...

  • Vienna Blood Walz *____* sweeeet !!

  • You forgot one Important date:

1955: Austria is free! Österreich ist frei!

  • greetings from Budapest! very lovely video!

  • Christ, why did the Allies have to dick around with the borders of Europe after WW1 >.<

  • Thank you for your videos! I have always wanted to know more about the great past empires (our school never taught us D:), so it is a joy to be able to watch them on YouTube! It is pretty sad to see kingdoms rise up, then fall. And I never knew Austria was that powerful! Thanks again!

  • @ProudToNotBeRacist Oh, really? You must have very poor education system where you live. I learned about the Austrian Empire already in primary school. Poor internet kids... :(

  • @SerskiGuslar Yeah, we do... My school in the US has a very poor education system, it's really sad... Fortunately, when I went to school in Canada, they had already taught us everything in primary school as well! Canada's education was better...

  • good old days

  • @1000razyja thanks for helping us 1683..........most empires in europe betrayed poland, so it´s nice to see a polish nation in the european union....

  • @1000razyja at this thime a war with prussia and russia woud have been a short and crushing war. quote:"maria theresa cried so hard and as more she has taken, the more she cried"

  • @1000razyja If you people didn't helped them defeated the Turks, they would have conquered all of mainland Europe. And Ottoman Turks though they are secular, they treat Christians as a second class citizens b'cuz in their law, only Muslim could ride horse or carry weapons etc.And this is the reason the Greece and other European countries under ottoman rule struggled hard for their independence due to the fact that they became second class citizens in their homeland.

  • @clydedsouza46

The same under germany ocupation in poland and even worse

  • Comment removed

  • @1000razyja Somebody is VERY bitter, obviously.

  • @1000razyja Don't forget, that the Hungarians keep the Turk for over 150 years. We, Hungarians, and you Poles were the savior of Europe. And what we got for it? We lost all our territories, Hungary break free in 1861, and Poland after the WWI. Long Live Poland!

  • @1000razyja shut it polish scum. the habsburg empire under charles v included austria, spain, HRE, bohemia, silesia, netherlands and the spanish colonies in america. it was much larger than your puny weak state. austria russia and prussia did well to carve up and divide poland.

  • @dimo2005

so now austria is so mighty and powerful, right? like bohemia, silesia, netherlands :PP Buahha, pupets states. No1 care abaut litle shit with no power. Poland alone pwnd you all.

  • @dimo2005 And what is your share in it, little man? :))) You'd better use capital letters where applicable. Did you go to school?

  • @1000razyja actually in Vienna it was a battle of the Holy Roman Empire in league with the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth (Holy League) versus the Ottoman Empire, "you Poles" didn't act on your own....

  • @fisichella78 Who acted "on their own" then? I will tell you - The Ottomans. And finally what are you fisichella78? Another Empire or what?

  • @1000razyja And we, Poles, defeted Turks in Viena..

and we still defeat them today XD

  • @1000razyja not only you defeated the turks you selfish child!

  • The first union based on democracy. The Austro-Hungarian Empire was fine, after the bloody western country split them into more countries and created several issues... congratulations Europe, I'd spit on you... Everybody had a work, every nation had their own politics except military and economy system. Everyone had money, Romanian, Hungarian, Slovakian, Ukranian, Slovenian, Croatian, Czech, Polish, Austrian, Serbian... and they fucked it up... congratulations Europe for nationalism... *spit*

  • @DanielVonPalota This sounds exactly like Soviet nostalgia. This empire was split by the nations themselves because they wanted to be free and join their brethren. Most didn't even have their own region, because they were de facto ruled by Germans and Hungarians. Also remember forced assimilation and "divide et impera" policy of the Hapsburg. It also had its own social and economic issues too, especially in the eastern parts.

  • well made.

  • thank you, great video

  • Greetings from Slovakia. Austro-Hungarian empire is our old homeland and the last real state of our history. Slovak and Hungarians are brothers under crown of St. Stephanus and Habsburg imperial house.

  • IT'S ASTONISHING AND PITY THE TERRITORY IN 1942 MORE BIGGER MORE THAN NAPOLEON EMPIRE. BRAVO HILTER AND GERMANY.IF SUCCESSFUL, THERE ARE NO EU AND RUSSIA NOW, THE RESULTS THAT ONLY NAZI UNITED EUROPE , USA AND CHINA SHARE THE WORLD NOW. SHITS AMERICA AND DUMB BRITISH. WE STILL ARE UNDER THE RULE OF NATO OF USA AND STRESS OF POLAR BEARS NOW.

  • My grandparents were born in AU-monarchy :)

  • Allies since 1918 and 1945 = Lost their soul and keep toturing German speaking people.

  • False video. In 1848-49 Hungary was independent for a short period during its freedom fight..

  • @MrMiniszter we could have taken your entire country, say thanks you still have a small part. And say bye bye to Transylvania forever, HHHAHAHAHAHA

  • @alynwhite

    @alynwhite lol

But before that we invaded Bucharest in the middle of the world war with two frontlines already (yes, we won with the help of the germans, but most hungarian soldier was on the italian front then, half of the 50 million Monarch's army was of hungarians), and in the Bucharest treaty we only took 3000 kms from you, while you wanted to take the whole Tiszántúl. You just couldn't because even the Entente couldn't stand the sovinism of the gipsy vlachs..

  • @alynwhite I was in Transylvania some years ago. Everything was there like 100 years ago or worse in comparison with Hungary. Rumanians ruined the country and it is apparent for anybody.

  • how i wish i belong to this very prestigious family. who ruled much of Europe.

  • @archdukeize You wish you belongED? Sorry, but for what reason? Are you at least an noble?

  • Pretty hard to keep up while bearing in mind the changing historical contexts.

Awesome video though, I've always viewed Austria as a vital part of the clusterfuck that was post-Renaissance Europe.

  • when you watch hetalia this is funny

  • WTF Kosovo is independent state?

  • @TheRista00 u mad

  • @tFighterPilot YES i am fucking MAD,Kosovo is serbia!!!!

  • European history is buzzy.

  • I love your videos! More!

  • Austro-Hungary Long live

  • you stupid blunt austrians. You lose to france so many times you've lost count. Napoleon destroyed your so called empire descisively four times and you lost in both of the World wars. Go back to chopping down your trees with your lumberjacks.

  • @randomtroll777 ouuuu good insult you sure told them off :|

  • @randomtroll777 please learn how to troll succsessfully, you fail big times

  • 6:55

  • pussiest empire of all times...

  • Fuck Austria!

You dare to betray The Most Serene Commonwealth of Both Nations, that save you from Turkey in Wiena!

    Eternal shame on you!

  • @1000razyja bloody hell, be happy that you survived the germans...

  • *whisper* Thanks commenters, for not arguing about silly stuff and starting flame wars. I really like it... ^=•=^

Thanks for uploading this very informative video.

  • I love my history. Thanks for the video.

  • THANK YOU FOR YOUR SECOND PART OF THE DESCRIPTION!

It made my Day. As an Austrian who grew up in Germany I HATE the historical distortion of the "we were never german" mentality and newadays hatred from Austria against germany(which is easy to do, I agree). Young Austrians do not learn their history anylonger.

  • i do not like the habsburgs. the world would have been better without them.

they treated hungary, croatia and all other parts of their empire like colonies.

i do not have any nostalgy after the rule of the habsburgs. they got their reward, because the were not progressive after 1815.

  • I agree that it was glorious for Austria but not for the small countries which were dominated by them hundreds of years both as for economy and german language.

The Habsburgs were not so smart acc. my opinion. If they had not denied the human rights and own languages to all the countries they ruled and let them be autonom countries ex. USA the empire would still exist. And Europe did not need to suffer from the biggest idiot of the world Hitler under the WWII.

    Greetings from free Czech republic

  • I am not a monarchist or anything, but:

1844 Hungarian official language in Hungary

1868 Hungarian official language in Slowakia

    1869 Polish in Galizia

1886 Czech in Bohemia and Moravia

Nationalism only started in the 1800s, there were no national we-identities before. Just look at the czech nobility, which spoke German and Czech or how Germans and Czechs intermixed esp. in the cities. Many Austrians have Czech names and vice versa

  • @AustrianAtheist At last I see a reasonable statement! However I don't miss the Habsburg Empire :))

  • 6:53 wtf

  • @rapidwien4everever allies vs axis -_-

Stupid turks! Our empire will once again unite! All salute the red white and green :D

  • My aunt visit Austria many times because she live in UK.

  • I love Austria, it's a shame that a country with so, sooo much historical significance is so small today. Well, they still have Vienna, one a of the most beautiful cities in europe.

  • Comment removed

  • What a sad fate, once greatest European Empire now invaded by turks and other kanaken!

  • Its sad that great and brave countrys lost its teritories

  • before napoleon habsburg empire was not only austria, it was holy roman empire of german nation :))

  • Amazing. I am from Galicia (western Ukraine) which was under Austria during 1772-1918. Both my great grandparents served in Austrian army in First World War.

  • Kosovo is within Serbia you know

  • @nikolicdragan93 not officially it ain't. It's a disputed territory claimed by both Serbia and Kosovo

  • This is the best history of Austria that I've watched on Youtube so far! And the music is lovely too! But I think you could have written the reason for the acquisition and loss of territories---whether by conquest or marriage or partition...

I wonder whether Austria ever gained teritory through war? Or Austria mainly gained territory through marriages and partitions?

  • @coerdelion13 Austria gained the new territorries by war, but also by marriages and partitions (Poland). On the other hand Austria also lost many territories by war (Lusatia, Silesia,) and the whole Empire was lost after WW I. Repetition of the Empire is rather impossible in the nearest future :))

  • More interesting is how my small village from Transylvania was basically under the same rule as some inca settlements in South America or some new discovered places in Asia...

  • 7:30 Nube (Noob)

  • Auuuustria........whenever I think of Austria I think of Motzart, Schtrudels, ice-creams, beer, meadows, snow capped mountains ,nice landscapes and the infamous Schikelgrubber and some of his best friends

  • Lol, this is not correct at all... Hungarians captured Vienna about their king was Matthias I of Hunyad... Also there were Hungarian revolution wars in 1700 and in 1848, and most of all, Huns lost territory to Austria , not Austria to Huns...

  • Very interesting video

  • Good job.

  • Sie wollten uns vernichten, aber heute keine Wut. Wir mussen kampfen gegen der Juden, und dem Zionism
