  • Don't fuck with Keith.

  • Remember at this time the Angels had a hit out on Mick

  • I only wish he coulda got in a straight chop to his head.

  • i was there i saw it a moment in time

  • dopest guy alive:)

  • gente debil mental tem mesmo que se ralar....o dito "fa" e psiquiatrico....a pessoa que tem idolos e doente. assim como quem tem e defende religiao...o cancer humano...o humano que e o cancer da natureza desse planeta.

  • That stage invader got no satisfaction

  • "and a man comes on the stage and talks for ages and ages, about the shot Keith Richards gave him"

  • un capo al ver que viene uno corriendo entre los globos y no ser parte de el espectáculo lo mas atinado es partirle la cabeza por des ubicado al idiota

  • Anyone rushing the stage at a Stones concert risks having a guitar pick up and a few steel strings shoved up their arse. I love how Mick keeps singing rather than assisting Keith and the song never breaks rhythm.

  • "I watch my man's back"

    -keef

  • At the end of the video you see Keith turn the volume up on his telecaster. That means that he turned the volume down before he hit the guy so he wouldn't ruin the song...that's pro.

  • Level 2... zombie apocalypse.

  • he later bailed the guy out :-)

  • Well to say it's about the sanctity of the stage would'nt be enough, I mean remember John Lennon

  • @MyBottletree

You can hardly say this was Richards John Lennon moment? A fan running on stage compared to a nut with a gun in dark entrance to a building?

  • @capetown99

Ok, let's call it Monica Seles Moment? I just want to say, that he did the right thing, you never know who's in front of you.

  • @capetown99 but that fan might have been concealing a weapon of some sort... you just never know...

  • Bit like Woodstock when Townsend whacked Hoffman. You never abuse the sanctity of the stage. Never.

  • In my slashy mind, he was protecting Mick and was rewarded with a BJ.

  • Comment removed

  • After John was murdered, I imagine many famous musicians had it in the back of their mind. You can't tell what people r doing when they rush a stage. See also: The guy who rushed at Paul Simon at the 1981 Central Park concert just as he was playing "The Late Great Johnny Ace".

  • @Landrew120880 good point there

  • "Telecaster makes a damn good club!" - Keith Richards

  • Comment removed

  • haha i love how mick doesnt stop singing

  • @lukemcd3

    I was gonna say....

Just a normal every day thing in the life of a Rolling Stone.

They just take it in stride ^_^

  • fuck yea!!!!!

  • lol. they just carried on like nothing happened! :)

  • Proving once and for all that rocking out and kicking ass need not be mutually exclusive.

  • lol, all the artists were paranoid after the death of john lennon.

  • @MossPikpo lol

  • kEITH..he is the man....great !

  • Nowadays most bands would stop and run and call security rather then this, its sad really

  • "That maybe why Kieth cannot be killed by conventional weapons"

  • He only wanted to tune up Richards guitar, it was making a right racket, poor bloke.

  • I love how Keith throws down! Then gets right back to the job- didn't even sound like he knocked his Tele out of tune.

  • @kingpinboogie You're right, it wasn't. If you look at the video where he talks about it, there a link to the right for it called "Keith Richards - About hitting fan with guitar" he says the guitar was still in tune. He also says he bailed the guy out of jail.

  • dont forget, the stones played attmont, probabably the most mental gig ever, this was nothing to them, which makes them the best ban in the world.

  • good thing he wasnt a black man in a green suit with a gun.

  • lmao

  • telecaster!!

  • "a telecaster is a damn good club"

    -Keith Richards

  • Shame, had ol' Keith not been ravaged by smack there might of actually been some power behind that...

  • And just keeps playin like a boss!

  • Keith is a gentleman through and through. Didn't miss more than couple of a beats either:)

  • I bet that guy thinks twice before jumping onto a Stones stage again. Best thing was he put his guitar straight back on carried on like nothing ever happened! LEGEND!!

  • Mick just looks on .....ahhh seen this before.

  • man he's cool

  • lol

  • Fuckin Badass.

  • Yyyyyeeeaaaaaahhhh keith!!!!

  • "Yeah, he could be a fan. But he might be a nutter. The cat was on my turf. I had

to chop the mother down." - Keith Richards

  • @Keepsu are you really Keith Richards?

  • @asakidesigns Haha---no, that's a quote. I was about 50 feet away from this when it happened, though. I didn't see it because there were too many balloons.

  • I guess he wasn't getting any satisfaction,

  • Mick....you TOTALLY OWE THIS MAN KEITH! He protected you with NO hesitation.

  • @rocktenniscats if only somebody had protected brian jones from those two..

  • whatever happened to larry the cable guy?

  • Anyone else not notice a change in the music when Keith stopped playing... or when he started?

  • @ppardee that's because they're pros. it's seamless.

  • @ppardee Listen closely, it's there. He saw the guy coming on stage, and the guitar was rolled down at that point. The video starts AFTER he already stopped playing, and when he starts again, listen closely the lead riff, it comes back in a bit louder/sharper after he flips the "Pick Up Selector Switch" at around 13 seconds.

You can thank me later ;)

  • Keith Richards is Rock and Roll.

  • sharp

  • WHAT IS THIS BULL SHIT????????? you're all crediting him for inflicting pain on another person? what the fuck is wrong with running onto the stage? and its good to help out the scum bag corporate police? sickening.

  • @DGENERATE07 What is wrong with running onto the stage?

It shows you care more about yourself than the band or the rest of the people at the show. Why should I have the show that I paid a bunch of money for be disrupted because you want to get an up-close & personal experience on stage with a star... Its a total douche move. Also, rockers get assaulted on stage all the time. Bottles & rocks get thrown. Darrell Abbott (from Pantera) was killed during a concert on stage. Gotta protect yourself.

  • @ppardee hang on you're looking at one extreme. You can run onto the stage and then jump off again to crowd surf, go watch a peal jam video, nobody gives a shit and that's the point. Now when someone stays up there too long and distracts from the band then thats when they need to get down. Attacking the band is a different story of course but its still wrong to hit somebody, inflict pain to another. Was he even fucking running at him or just running past? and this is 1980fucking1

  • @DGENERATE07 What nonsense. Anyone who steps on keef's turf does so knowing it's probably not going to end well for them. That was was his choice, and it was a stupid one. Keith did what was necessary, totally deserved, end of story.

  • @ppardee - I agree there. That guy who ran up, could have had a gun, knife, who knows? Keith did what he had to do. Instinctive....just like his brilliant writing/guitar playing. Keith is a wonder. Mick is lucky to have a bandmate like that.

  • This isn't fake. The stage invader ended up going to prison because of it but Keith ended up bailing him out. He says so himself in an interview which is on here, if you follow a few links.

  • Where and when was this concert?

  • @oswestrymon You're obviously defending or speaking well of the Beatles, but I'm sorry...I don't give a shit what Jagger says, the Beatles songs/songwriting will always be pop tunes and VERY simple lyrics. Sure they maybe matured musically during and after Abbey Road, but that isn't good enough. When the Beatles were yelling for "Help!" the Stones were forcing folks to get off their cloud.

  • FAKE!

  • fucking funny shit, never skipped a beat

  • mick is cool as fuck here singing on

  • @oswestrymon No but you were shitting on the guy for no reason. You claim everyone has a preference in music yet bash someone for hating the Beatles. Theres nothing wrong with hating the Beatles, I don't personally, but as you said, its subjective.

  • El Kabong

  • @oswestrymon Its not against the fucking law to prefer the Stones to the Beatles. Fuck.

  • that was tight !!!! never seen this footage before !!!! i gotta watch this 12 more times !!!! i love the way he saw it coming, prepared himself for battle real quick, handled the battle in rapid time, re-strapped himself up and kept on jammin like nothing ever happened !!! f*ckin great !!!! briliant keith !!!!

  • Smacks the guys, put's it back on and keeps on playing...Consummate Professional !! Micks like "Man this reminds me of when we first started

    out " LOL !!

  • @TheRiceowlex He didn't smack anyone, it was worse than pro wrestling! watch again and see how fake it is.

  • wheres the point of the video

  • @tohectic where's the point to your wasting precious space on this planet.

  • Legend.

  • keiths got so much money its fallin outta his diaper

  • Looks like keith has done that a few times befor.

  • i love how he keeps on playing normaly after that LOL

  • Balloons! I like balloons.

  • wow. Poor guy got beaten up by keiths guitar :D

  • He is really fast ;D ;D

  • @oswestrymon Hey man, I happen to be a pathetic cunt and I don't appreciate you using our name like that in such a negative light. It's hard work being a pathetic cunt. So, please show us more respect. Pathetic cunts have a long history of never giving up in the face of obvious contradiction.

  • @oswestrymon

He sure is a moron. Funny, the lengths some clowns go to in order to avoid boredom. Maybe one day he'll read a book.

  • @oswestrymon so he doesn't say that lennon was the greatest songwriter ever like you claimed. just saying.

  • Dude: *runs up like an asshole on stage* DUUUHHHH!

Keith; *took his guitar and smashed it over the dudes head* TKO SMACKDOWN BITCH!

  • He doesn't hit him very hard. How do I know? His guitar is still in tune after.

  • @oswestrymon mick never said lennon was the greatest songwriter he ever met. you made that up. actually there is a interview online where mick says he wasn't a big fan of the beatles music.

ps..Dylan is the greatest songwriter ever. just saying.

  • @45arther

Correction-Dylan's the greatest lyricist ever. Lyricist and song writer aren't quite the same thing, are they? Just saying.

  • @67goldtops i don't care how you measure it. dylan is far and away rocks greatest song writer and will go down in history as that. And you know it..just saying.

  • @45arther

There's nothing to measure. A writer of lyrics and a writer of SONGS are far from synonymous. Of course Dylan is rock's preeminent wordsmith. Yet where do I listen to find a guitar intro as compelling a Keith's "Can't You Hear Me Knocking," or harmonic structure as original and complex as Hendrix's "One Rainy Wish" in Dylan's catalog? Oh wait, my bad...There aren't any. And you know it. Just saying.

  • @..

we all knw dylan is going down in rock history as the greatest song writer ever. There is no question of this. History books will report it 200 years from now. You Personal tastes change nothing.

just like the beatles will go down as the greatest band of the rock era, and thats a fact. And I don't like the beatles but i am smart enough my personal prefernces doesn't equal greatness.

what is not to get about this.

  • @67goldtops idiot is trying to compare hendrix to dylan as a song writer.. is there no end to internet ignorance.

if you like hendrix fine, thatd not the argument.

  • @45arther

Great stuff. The guy who poses the question "Is there no end to internet ignorance," is too dumb to end it with a question mark, so he uses a period. Oh, the irony... He then writes, "Thatd not the argument." And then there's "you personal tastes change nothing." Priceless entertainment from the old burnout who doesn't know the difference between YOU and YOUR. Oh, and what are personal prefernces? Are they like PREFERENCES?? Man, how to you exist in society as an illiterate? So sad.

  • @67goldtops wow i am awful with a keyboard..great and important post by you when discussing music.

  • @45arther

Oh, that's what YOU were doing, discussing music? Perhaps you can further pontificate about what "history books will report 200 years from now." Classic silliness on your part. As for "comparing Hendrix to the Beatles," not quite. My mentioning Hendrix was completely arbitrary. I could've mentioned any musician, who, unlike Dylan, composed MUSIC, rather than LYRICS. That you don't know the difference is comedy on your part. And yes, my personal tastes indeed DO have no relevance.

  • @67goldtop yeah actually i was discussiong music obviousloy. Really you are not aware that Dylan will always be regarded as the greatest songwriter from his era. Give me a break. I know you knowthat.

Dylan didn't compose music..lol. What an idiot..

  • @45arther

Man, can your silly argument be any MORE repetitive. Once again, Dylan's genius lies in writing words. You think he was equally as brilliant in composing music? You think he was consistently crafting original hooks, coming up with original melodies, and chord progressions that reflected the brilliance of his lyrics. WRONG. Dylan, ONCE AGAIN, is a great word-smith. That he put those words to his simple guitar parts, is FAR from rendering the greatest SONG WRITER. Get it yet, dopey?

  • @67goldtops So I guess that means Burt Bacharach is better then all of them ? You need to differentiate between rock and pop.

Bob Dylan was the most "important" songwriter of the rock era. In rock, lyrics without meaning are meaningless which is why Punk for example even though it's musically simplistic is more important than Metal for example because generally speaking the lyrics in metal are meaningless.

Whatever.. Ray Davies was better than all of them .

  • @sharkattacksteve

    "important" LOL.

You miss the point of the discussion, which is not the "meaning & meaninglessness" of lyrics. It's the MUSIC via which lyrics are delivered. Thus, your comment that Punk is "more important" than metal is irretrievably stupid, seeing any clown who's been playing guitar for 2 years can hammer out 5th chords in a Punk band.

"In rock, lyrics without meaning are meaningless." BRILLIANT! As opposed to what? Disco? Where "words without meaning" are meaningful?

  • @67goldtops No you miss the point , in rock the lyrics are more important than the music. The greatest rock songs are that due to their message. Are "Satisfaction" or " My Generation" great because of their musical complexity ? Of course not they're great because of their message. 3 chords and a message is all rock n roll was ever meant to be.

  • @sharkattacksteve

Pure comedy. "In rock, the lyrics are more important than the music."

Says YOU. Tell than to anyone who has spent time mastering the slidework of Duane Allman or the rhythm stylings of Curtis Mayfield. As for your take on "Satisfaction" & "My Generation," sure the lyrics are iconic. Sure the message of both speaks for themselves. Yet what makes the songs timeless is THE RIFFS, not the lyrics. One can apply the same analysis to Dylan's music. Oh wait, he barely has any riffs.

  • @67goldtops Yes "riffs" not 5-10 minute masturbatory guitar and drum solos. And when I think of " Rock'n'Roll" I really don't think of Duane Allman or Curtis Mayfield but I do think of Chuck Berry or the Ramones..

If you want to listen to "music" you listen to Classical or Jazz, if you want a soundtrack/Anthem for whatever you're rebelling against at that specific moment in time you listen to Rock'n'Roll.

"Rock'n'Roll is rebel music and if it ain't rebel music it ain't Rock'n'Roll"

    Duane Eddy

  • @sharkattacksteve

Once again, says YOU. I could give a shit about what YOU think of when you think of "Rock 'n Roll." You've clearly demonstrated that you're mentally soft. You're the clown who, in all his ineptitude, penned the brilliant one-liner, "Lyrics without meaning are meaningless." LOL. And NOW you attempt to slight to mastery of slide guitar playing demonstrated by Duane?? You're a total dullard. The only thing you've ever rebelled against is coherent thought and pussy. Fat old joker.

  • @sharkattacksteve

Man, you're just NOT intelligent. The conversation is not YOUR attempting to set the parameters for what defines REAL Rock n Roll. The conversation is lyrics vs music. The conversation is about BOB DYLAN. Remember that, JOKER?? YOU'RE the clown who, in one post attempts to claim "lyrics are more important than music." I call bullshit. Now you write, "yes riffs..." You're just all over the map, aren't you? Tell you what, you take your lyrics, I'll stick w/ guitar & drums. lol

  • @45arther

Nobody is denying that Dylan was a brilliant lyricist. He was. However, his songs, the music that his lyrics ride on, are not as melodious or as compelling as those composed by, for example, Hendrix or Richards.

Understand, lyrics aren't songs; they are a component of songs, as wheels are a component of cars. However, being able to craft a wheel does not make you a mechanic. Dylan was excellent with words; not so much with music.

I think he would've done better as a poet, myself...

  • @Dethenger are u joking? the most famous hendrix songs are dylan songs you complete idiot

  • @HazeMe0

Really? So it was DYLAN who composed Voodoo Child (Slight Return)? It was DYLAN who composed Little Wing, Crosstown Traffic, and The Wind Cries Mary?? Man, that's extraordinary. I wonder if Bob is pissed about all of the royalties owed to him by the Hendrix estate.

  • is it possiblke that it is staged it was keith´s 38 birthday. maybe and nice pr gag...i dont want to think so cause its to cool

  • Keith: "YOU SHALL NOT UPSTAGE ME!"

  • This video is SATISFYING ;)

  • all while mik jagger is hooded in a fucking flag singing with balloons everywhere looking lik e"wtf?"

  • Gettim Keef!

  • SOME FACTS: Keith was a Class-A drug used in the 1970s and made many gangsters very rich. Each time he changed drug dealer he got death threats from the last ones. Things got so bad, Keith slept with a loaded gun under his pillow each night on tour. This clip is just after he kicked hard drugs. He was still very paranoid and watched his back all the time. A guy rushes him on stage, Keith fears the worst. Does the guy have a gun, a knife? Keith has no option but to put the guy down just in case.

  • Keith Richards.......that's all i need to say ha.

  • BADASS!

  • So that is why the guitar is sometimes called an axe!

  • This was totally staged by Hal Ashby. It's so obvious. Rock and roll theater. Keith Richards is a 135lb 5'6" weakling. He has effectively killed the Rolling Stones touring life with his bullshit book. Thanks a lot, Keith. I used to think you were the shit. You're nothing but an angry, jealous, asshole sell-out. Go make another piece of shit Disney movie you cheese dick phony.

  • WOWSER! what warranted such a violent response is the question .. hi keith I want to tell you how much I love y-EL_KAGONG! Thought this dude had a little more class than that. and yeah, love how he acts like nothing happened a second afterwards!! Someone's head is missing who cares, I'm Keith.

  • What was great was that he immediately went right back to playing!

  • the balloons make it all ridiculous xD

  • "Keef! Keef! I'm your biggest fan, mate! OW, OW, OW, OW!

  • KICKS HIM RIGHT IN HIS BALLS!!!! WHAT AIM!!!

    TRUE FUCKING ROCK STAR

  • You don't hear the guitar being smashed because his volume knob is turned down. Watch after he puts his guitar back on. He starts playing, realizes he can't hear anything, rolls up his volume knob and then you can hear the main fuzz box riff kick back in.

  • badass. hahaha he just puts it back on and keeps playing

  • amazing how hes able to play while his hands are nowhere near the strings. i need to learn how to do that

  • @wolhayomg Three words, Ronnie Wood. Dipshit

  • @peevack i also love how the guitar made absolutely no noise while he was banging it off of a person, guitars make a very distinct noise upon being struck

  • @wolhayomg lol, didn't you hear the feedback/squeal sound after he struck him....

  • @wolhayomg Are you saying you don't think Keith actually plays or is a talented guitarist?

  • @jfkjrlover im saying in this particular show it doesnt seem his guitar is doing a damn thing. could be the venues fault cant say for sure.

  • I'm an extreme advocate of non-violence. But that was pretty badass.

  • Love Keith Richards

  • Keith Richards: Natural Born Combatant. No panic, no hesitation, no mercy.

    Thumbs for Keith!

  • Mick doesn't miss a beat... pro.... hmmmm or maybe doesn't give a shit about Keith?

  • 90 people including me are on Chuck Berry's side.

  • priceless.....

  • Like a boss

  • Best dual usage of guitar ever.

  • The stones better than the beetles!!!! Way more hardcore psh "I am the walrus "...

  • @crimsonkng go fuck yourself

  • That's why you call it an "axe", ladies and gentlemen...

  • I like the fact that Keith was WELL-prepared for the guy. He was winding up for that swing a good 2-3 seconds before the fan hit the scene. Cocaine = Increased Reflexes!

  • Come at me bro. i has guitar.

  • I have a new found respect for Keith after watching this 15 second clip.

  • WHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHH!!

  • I bet that fan didn't get the satisfaction he was looking for!

  • @CubeableGame HAHAHAHAHAH NICE

  • If only my thumbs were bigger to give an even bigger thumbs up! Go Keef Go!

  • How does that tele taste? Jack ass..

  • south london badass.

  • Keef is a badass. You never know when a fan is going to pull a Dimebag and shoot you. As if Keef could get any cooler

  • dont mess with Keith, that dude snorts did people for a living.

  • I love when he puts the guitar back on continued to play. lmfao

  • After Altamont, this is a breeze for M & K. And Keith did pay the guy's bail charge.

  • Keith actually only hit that ol' boy a glancing blow as he did not want to fuck up his guitar.

  • True fact: Keith smashed his guitar on that guy's head and later paid his bail to free him.

    How cool is that!

  • @machbaby He still owns Keith 200 bucks.

  • God bless rock 'n roll

  • lmao @ how mick jagger just watches as it happens and says nothing. i love the stones.

  • staged

  • What makes this so funny is that mick doesn't even turn a hair, as if he knew what was going to happen and just decided to watch....

  • sounds like alot of you guys are on your knees for these super rich english boys

  • Love how Mick keeps going, somewhat un-phased by it. Keith is just fucking the coolest guy ever, that goes without saying. A different time these guys grew up in, the real deal right there.

  • @element1108 Sorry but Slash is cooler innt

  • @a4dneal

not only is keith cooler he's a better guitarist than slash.

  • go keith go! slam the annoying fan!
