the red wings have trouble filling the arena for regular season games because Detroit is by far the hardest hit city in the country by the economic downfall, people dont have extra money to go to the games. besides i think before all that started, the wings had like an 11 year sellout streak, from 1996 to 2007...hmmm didnt that aforementioned economic crisis start around 2007?@theelboweater

And it seems when there is success people forget past failure, The Wings had a peoriod of time where they only made the playoffs twice in 17 years. and they cashed in with Steve Yzerman. hitting rock bottom is the best thing that can happen to a franchise, and in 5 years the Oilers will be a force again.
