@dirtyblondny And its a peace song in french so the inversion seems quite deliberate, answering your question. Edit Piaf sang it first. When then population was smaller.
another MUST song for the upcoming Tel Aviv concert Mimi...........you can change the world with your beautiful voice and songs such as this one...........love you forever Mimi................
mireille tu nous manques ,la plus belle voie française à qui nous devrions rendre un hommage à la hauteur de son talent !!!!!Mireille nous t'aimons !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love her voice - one of the best ever. IMHO, it sounds better in French also. But the lyrics don't have the same gut wrenching feel of the original. The original lyrics capture the emotion of the Civil War. Just my thoughts.
Yes she has abilities for to sing grave a la Piaf or suave, delicate a la Mouskouri. She worked fantastic too ,why you don't recognize that she really is the best in french music. And what a beauty and noble voice she has!
God Bless President for abolishing the evil institution of slavery.
In my hometown of Louisville, noted local sculptor Ed Hamilton will unveil his Lincoln statue along with 4 bas reliefs on 6/4/09. Louisville is where Lincoln saw slaves being transported on a steamboat. He was deeply upset by this encounter and made him realize that slavery was evil.
Download off Youtube. Search "Any Video converter " You will also note many great artists are not on Itunes.Because their , music is only sold, not given away. Think about Money.
@lcdavidusa Because she's not really big in the USA. I discovered her by accident here on YouTube, and don't know anybody who's ever heard of her. God, she's fantastic.
In these days of terrorism, hate, ignorance, abuse and all sorts of evil and unkind unlove towards our neighbors and one another this song tells us not to despair or lose heart but fight the good fight for to love and seek/reach the best is right!
It may not be about a population census but rather saying that there are lot who have the right stuff in them and are willing to love and after all isn't 1 or better 2 even enough! This song is to increase hope and a can-do attitude. The power of 1 is great but the power of 3,000, 3 million billion and 3 times 33 is something. We must shine the light of that truth and reclaim the earth for GOODNESS sake.
Nun ja, die 3 Milliarden, die sie besingt, sind ja nur die, die einander lieben; die übrigen 3,5 Mrd. hassen und führen Kriege gegeneinander; das trifft die Sache doch ganz richtig...
You can see one of her oldest songs from 1966.Equally beautiful. I just uploaded it 2 hrs ago. 'Quelle est belle' A new presentation. subscribe to me and you get instant updates on my uploads.
I listened to many veteran singers, who (in order to cover-up for the flaws in their overworked vocal cords) added unnecessary complexity and texture to their delivery, thus loosing those difficult to describe prescious qualities of purity and innocence.
Bravo Mireille Mathieu! We are privileged to have you, and for the joy, to listen to your songs.
I would like to hear your take on perhaps her most opiate stirring song- "A quoi tu pense" here on youtube.(from jimwitt) Jedi knights go there to practice self control. They all fail. Men visit this video dozens of times. Look at the hit counter.
Thanks. It is remarkably beautiful, and obviously her heart poured-out during the performance. I'm somewhat at unease about her crying on stage. Usually that would hinder a performance. (Although I couldn't hear any flaw, but I'm by nature, somewhat suspicious). Anyway, I need to listen to her numerous times, at various mood in me, to have a final opinion.
You should know, that I pride myself for having the reputation of being a wry faced, snobbish and harsh critic, who during his analysis and evaluation, tries to be just as detached as a biology teacher, when he dissects a hamster in a class. Admittedly and regretfully, I let my standard slip on occasion, as you can see in my first comment above. ☺
Her voice has amazing qualities: It is a wonderful combination of being crystal clear at all times, while reaching for true highs in great control and even crispy pronounciation. This allows her to have noble and heartbreakingly pure simplicity in her delivery, which no matter what, is the most difficult to accomplish and deliver.
Julia Ward Howe (who wrote the Battle Hymn of the Republic), would have been proud of this version! But do I actually have to love the other 2,999,999,999,999,999? Can't I just stick to the cat? Just kidding....love Mireille Mathieu
A wonderfull interpretation of the Battle Hymn for the troubled times that we are in. The lyrics befits a political solution, and as always Mirelle Mathieu delivered it with rousing enthusiasm. Thank you for sharing, and hopefuly more patriotic songs will be in store in the future.
Excellent.

Once more, it's a wonderful from Mimi, but you're right, we should now say "6 billion souls", it would be more correct !

You may listen to the song twice to total 6 billion First she sings for the boys. And then for the girls.

or better she sings it again with words "6 billion souls"

antonKASA2007: Don't be so hung-up on numbers. It doesn't change the meaning of the song. It applies if it's 3, 6, or 10 billion.
