rotary rakes take to long to set up and you have to get them set up right off the ground so you get all the hay but don't scratch the ground (give and take thing) do a nice job but not timely to get it maid if need to be if calling for a storm or something
Why do you want to buy a rotary rake? They are double price for the same work, and the greasing takes much more time and they wont get as old as a V -Rake.
The main reason is because I'm unhappy with the amount of scratching the v-rake does, it rakes in dirt, dead grass, etc into the hay.
Next, I'm told a rotary makes a more even swath (better drying, faster baling), and there's less leaf loss with the rotary in Alfalfa. Haven't run one yet personally so I can't say for sure.
you definatly want be goin that fast with a rotary mabey half that speed but its your farm we use a 10 wheel frontier rake on 1200 acres of coastal and it stays about 50 feet ahead of our john deere baler lol they both run 10 to 13 mph
dont like the rake its not a jd or nh looses value
