  • @AnimationGoneWrong: There are a couple things causing the lag. The first is that I sequenced each "character" individually so that it wouldn't match up exactly. The second is that there are different wattage bulbs in some of them so the rise/fall time of the light is different.

The MIDI spec says 50 feet is maximum , but that's more of a guideline than a rule. You can often run way more than that with no problems. MIDI is slow and is a current loop so it's not very susceptible to noise.

  • Very cool! I notice there is a slight lag between the different objects. I'm assuning this is just the MIDI signal being sent across multiple channels to control each pumpkin and skull by itself? How do you overcome the distance limitation of MIDI?

The process you use is almost identical to the one I use for our programmable skeleton, but he runs on a serial cable, which can run a lot longer distance.

  • Hi Modd3d what control software are you using? I am trying Light-O-Rama this year but I do not see any control for midi (like what you did with your skulls). I would love to learn more on how you put this together also ...

Very nice work. Also nice job on the video (I can tell you have some experience behind a camera ;-)

  • God, that is tight!

  • Awesome! =D
