Only the ignorant/inexperienced would take the rod out of the holder. High-speed trolling is not your normal type of fishing.

Go back to watching your "How to rig a Ballyhoo" video before you make yourself look any more foolish than you already have.

@jrussell3176 as a self admitted ignoramus, who has only slow trolled in lakes... what is the idea of continuing to troll while you have a fish on? is it to get other fish on?

That's one main reason. The other is because there's a 1-3 lb trolling weight about 20' in front of the lure/fish. If you stop the boat the weight will create a big belly (ie. slack) in the line and the fish will usually shake the hook out.
