OK, your normal pop/rock gig situation: 22" bass drum, hole in the front: I'm still to meet a genius who could tell a buried from unburied beater with his eyes closed.
if your going for speed drumming DO NOT use the heel down method. your leg WILL cramp and it WILL hurt. heel up gives you more speed if you use it with the swivel and slide techniques. the heel down is more for jazz drumming, latin drumming, and alternative.
I think teaching one way as good and another as faulty or poor sounding is doing your students a disservice. No one way is more correct than any other, there are multiple paths to the same goal. Display the techniques, let the student try them and find the one that suits them best.
.... what are you teaching noobs?!? basically what this sounds like is "do not use the heel up method, only heel down"?? I always use the heel up and find it the most comfortable and makes the best sound. When I play I have no trouble and bounce it correctly. i agree, beginners should use heels down and practice, but when you get more advanced, heels up is the way. But hey it depends on you
@queenmcsleaze I have no fucking idea ...i swear he has just the one . , unless he`s got it round his neck and he plays the snare with his wanger...lol
The sound you want for a bass drum is the drummer's option, if one wants the deeper sound, go for it. Heel up is recommended for beginners because you need to develop the sense of feel. heel down is more tiring than one would think
Bass sounds realllly tight

@allo0102
I mean I cant get the movement
I can do it reversely though: my foot moves slightly forward first and then backwards
But I see everyone move it from back to front!
tiketiger 3 months ago
@tiketiger you mean that u can't put your ankle on the pedal and play like that ?
allo0102 3 months ago
@allo0102
That too.
But basically I just can't get enough speed.
Yet, at least :)))

allo0102 3 months ago

allo0102 3 months ago
@allo0102
Both :)
tiketiger 3 months ago
@tiketiger how can you guess that i'm fast..?
allo0102 3 months ago
@allo0102
well, first of all, i have no reason not to believe you.
second, at this particular point in my drumming carreer i am probably slower
than anyone who plays for a longer period of time than I do :)
