  • A few months back, I actually sent Pat Flynn (the writer of this tune) an email in hopes that he sees what they did with the song...

  • @kentrothrock Thanks for that! I actually just did the same thing. I know it's a few years late, but I'd like him to be aware of our version - it's a wonderful song that has always inspired and empowered me, so I hope everyone enjoys it and checks out their original, which can't be topped.

  • This is a great version of this song! I'm a huge Newgrass fan and these folks should be proud of what they did. It was a great choice for an a cappella arrangement! The female singer really nails the emotion of the song; I really think I like it better than the original!!!

  • Very interesting take on this song.

  • that gave me chills

  • That was great... i agree with Kbart129... I love Garth's version, but you guys have mi listening to this son every day!!!

  • Hey Danjo it's Dan McQuaid from Easton Session Two...this vid is awesome great job. I MISS CAMP SO MUCH!!

  • hee, hee, hee. Fun to read the whole thread. Yep, Garth was a big New Grass Revival fan too. I still think he'd go for Cowan's Wichita Way if he heard it. We used to get amused by his recordings of their songs, because he'd hire them and then make like a front man. Well, at least on a couple of the ones he recorded.

  • Sounds to me like they heard the Cow do it. I'm impressed.

  • Thank you, and many thanks to the Cow (John Cowan) and all of New Grass Revival, the true inspiration for this arrangement.

    No offense to Garth Brooks.

  • wow. to be honest, i was really nervous about this... it's really really hard to pull off a garth song, but you guys seemed to do a decent job. nicely done.

  • I love the Garth Brooks version of this song, but y'all blew him out of the water. It was great!

  • Nice harmony.

  • This is one of my favorite songs. I used to listen to the Newgrass Revival version all the time. Your performance is fantastic and I would certainly appreciate the higher quality version if you can put it up.

  • This is very cool, btw. Thanks for posting it.

  • Wonderful!

  • ok, finally got this sorted out. my apologies for the confusion. it was indeed written by pat flynn, and it WAS recorded by garth brooks - hence the confusion. the first place i found the lyrics was planetgarth, and i didn't bother to look further. again, my apologies.

sadly, neither gentlemen were immediately available to record the song with us. ;-)

  • Pat Flynn wrote this song, not Garth Brooks. New Grass Revival originaly recorded this song. Garth Brooks did a remake of this song with New Grass Revival as guests on the recording

  • thanks to extrasouth for clearing this up and giving credit where credit is due.

  • wheres garth?
