Er was classic.. it showed the real life of doctors.. unlike Grey's anatomy's extra drama with everyone sleeping with one aother, or House's unbelievabley stupid diagnostic ability ( who misdiagnosis a patient at first, then something critical happens.. then BAM! House gets an idea out of nowehre and solves tha case ).. im not saying they are bad, i like watching them.. im just saying they are not as Genuin as ER :)

God, that made me cry. I remember watching this ep when it aired, I think I bawled for half an hour after the ep was over. It was just so shocking, so sudden. Funny how you can get so connected to a character on a TV show. Oh well.

there is 15th season at country now and I can't imagine that it will be no 'ER' any more. I'm addicted to this series, I've always especially loved Carter. he has always beeen a main character in this series and main reason that I started to watch 'ER'.

there will be no 'ER' any more, but I know that as long as this series is going to be on TV - I'm going to watch it. it doesn't matter that I've watch first 10 seasons more than five times.

@starfall095 Well, I remember seeing an interview with Kelly Martin (Lucy) on 'Oprah'. She had just been married and I gathered since she had already been a part of the business for so long that she wanted out of show-business altogether to settle down and have a 'normal' life and family.

Regardless of whether it's true or not, it was a huge loss - I still cry buckets when I watch those two (?) episodes. They had great chemistry and WAS the best pairing for Carter.

They were planning a drug addiction storyline for Carter, and by killing off Lucy would be the perfect catalyst.

On a side note: The actress that played Lucy actually retired from acting with this episode, and went on to pursue an actual medical career in geriatrics. Not sure if that info is still current, but that was something I read back when this episode aired and she had an interview in Reader's Digest.

I think it was 2000. They both got stabbed by a mentally unstable person, they both had surgery and got through to ICU. But she had a pulmonary embolism (spelling?) and died :( Carter survived.

The Good Fight (season 5 episode 8).

Carter and Lucy search around the city for the father of a girl with a rare blood type, and at a point Carter falls and dislocates his shoulder, allowing Lucy to practice her first shoulder reduction ;-). At the end of the episode, Carter gets a sling for his shoulder, which he still wears for one or two more episodes.
