Don't ever make excuses for your singing... sick or otherwise. It perks up the ears of your audience who may have never heard a difference had you not announced to them that they might, indeed, hear one. Most singers use this tool of excuses as a crutch. You don't need a crutch. You have a lovely, crisp young voice. Leave the excuses off the stage and sing. If it goes well, great. If not, be better the next time.
