Time/Space: Bakhtin adopted it from physics to describe how the narrative elements of a text take on the dimensions of time and space in a representation sense. The body is a basic chronotope according to Bakhtin where the play of time (for example the grotesque body) is realized in space through action.
Bakhtinian texts are not sub-standard. But Bakhtin did fail to develop fully many of his ideas. This was due to the situations he found himself in and the breadth of the ideas.
I'm a grad student at the University of Pittsburgh. Were were presenting our projects for a course called, "Bakhtinian Rhetorics and Poetics" with professor Don Bialostosky. It was good stuff, just long.
It's a shame Bakhtinian texts are sub-standart texts.
PS: What the hell exactly is chronotope?

Quite a Bakhtinian effort! I always feel a beard might help when studying Bakhtin! I am gonna try growing a beard like yours!
