it seems Serato are steppin' up their game but traktor has been able to do all of this and more for a long time. with the new version of traktor coming real soon I'm sure they'll blow serato out the game.

@NakedJKid Traktor cannot control 3 or 4 real, physical turntables. SL3 can control 3, SL3 + Rane 68 can control 4. That's an integral difference.

@mmxbreaks it's a fair point but you can control 3 or 4 real physical cdjs or even 2 turntables and 2 cdjs with nothing but the audio 8 soundcard. I do like the serato waveform but that's about all I like about it. I guess it's a preference thing, depends on how you DJ.

im pretty glad i ditched my sl1 a few months ago. now i have to buy the sl3 + ableton live, +another tt1210 + vidoe sl and the 68 mixer? your having a bucking laugh arnt you? i can do all this with my midi controllers and traktor pro/ laptop. hey look at me i added bit crusher to my set but he dance floor didnt react cos no body new about it exept the dj. damn that just cost me 3000 grand? am i missing the point?

@andyfoz You don't need any of those things. Just different tools available. I still find fun in actually physically touching my turntables and cueing rather than using midi controllers to do everything for me. Different folks, different ropes.

I just bought SL-1 and I'm going to be super pissed if it means that I don't get to uprgrade to the 3 and 4 deck option. I've got the SP-6 update and I'm stoked on being able to use samples, but I want full feature decks running...and I play internal mode...any comments from serato on this?

im not from serato, however, i 99.99% doubt that that you will not have the 3 or 4 deck feature. I do have the SL1 though. the 3 and 4 deck option only works i believe with the Rane Sixty-Eight mixer and possibly 3 decks with the SL3....Sorry....

I have ableton 8 and a apc40. I want more than 2 decks because with "the bridge" is coming out, and my sessions view in ableton will take up 1 deck. The 68 is just too damn expensive, but i like the fact that you don't have to touch the laptop. If I get a SL3 is there a way, or something else I can buy so I can control my crate and loading the decks etc. without touching the laptop?

This is all cool serato, but when will we be able to use the video sl plug-in with the SL3 box- hope that's a feature of 2.0. Why do we have to choose between having three decks and cool software effects with the new flagship device (SL3) or having video and needing to purchase a mixer that is becoming obsolete(TTM 57SL)? Why can't we have both with the SL3 -seems like these next software releases will mark the extinction of the SL1 and the TTM57SL anyway.

This is wicked!! Do you have to purchase the TTM68 to have full functionality of all 4 decks? Would be a shame if had to upgrade from the 56. Ableton users should peep "The Bridge" as well.

Yeah you have to have the 68 for all four decks.

You can use any mixer of any brand with three or more channels for three-deck control, so long as you have SL3 and sacrifice the AUX channel for this - i.e. you won't be able to record back to computer if this is how you wire things up.

The Rane 57 is only a 2 channel mixer... so you're limited to those two channels.
