my sisters & i would wait for my parents to go to bed to watch mtv back in late 80's, when we 1st saw the video for "dreams in the dark", we all thought the vocals from this guy was awesome & seeing Jake E. Lee w/badlands was fabulous, i was 15 yrs old at the time & way too young to go to concerts & my parents were too strict besides, i found out the name of the lead singer Ray Gillen, i only had one unique poster of him w/a smile that I kept over the years & just found out he passed 17 yrs ago
I am so thankful to you for sharing your footage of this band's talents & desire to entertain the the general public of music that was actual music, now a days, it is NOT the same, so much has changed over a decade & a half ago....once again thank you so so so much even though i was too too young at least I can see & hear their performances,
I only got to see them once live, opening for Great White and Tesla, but they were solid performers with a great debut. They might have been bigger if their follow up was a bit more solid--and if it hadn't come at the outset of grunge, which swept away the hair bands.
@PEDROCLASSIC you can say that again..their is footage on youtube of a band he was in called sun red sun, well it was in 93 & he still sang very well despite his health ..i am still shocked that he passed away God Bless Ray Gillen
@PEDROCLASSIC gosh, you were so lucky to have catch them play...i wish i was a couple of years older to have gone to a concert w/o my parents permission
Dude where did you find this? I was at this show... They opened for cinderella, I also think that white lion was on this bill... I got their set list from this show!!! I was right up in front. I know that shoreline shoots all of their shows to show on the big screens... WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS?!
@martialfan36 Go to Amazon .Bought a CD for 20 bucks with tax and shipping.Couldnt believe it. Was brand new still in the wrap original art work and everything.
ray can imitate and moves like robert plant. I prefer ray's voice over PLANT and COVERDALE. he's got that smooth bluesy sound. i wanna hear Ray sing HOUSES OF THE HOLY or BATTLE OF EVERMORE. RIP bro ray
Looks like when they were opening for Great White and Tesla. Saw this show at the state fair in DuQuoin, IL.....missed Badlands set because my douchebag friend forgot his ticket and we had to go back to get it an showed up an hour late. I bought their album about a month later and have never forgotten over missing this set........
@cardiovescular do you think that sort of shit could kill metal? FUCK no. Metal just saw an opportunity to take a much needed break, and now bands like mine are bringing it back! People like us need to form up and bring this shit back!
the reason they weren't huge is because the masses are dumb. sheep follow the media. they wouldn't know a good thing if they heard it. more singers should just stand there and sing the shit outta the song; notice that Ray never felt the need to pose- he just sang the fucker. aspiring musicians need to take note. they were great and not likely to be repeated. ray never and still doesn't get the credit. no one can belt it out live like that; no one.
Yeah i agree.that's what makes this band unique and underrated.very few people knew badlands then. people knew jake. the year 1989 saw metallica, poison, skid row, the crue, cinderella, warrant, anthrax, megadeth, maiden, great white ,Gnr and a lot more. who knew bands like XYZ or BADLANDS or CRIMSON GLORY then?
I seen these guys at the stone in sf and at the omni in oakland, back in the day. They were Rockin! I miss those days!

all shitty punk, grunge, crappy emo-fucking-core bands killed these legendary bands... I wish those terrible music had never been born.

Badlands rocks and no jokes! As stormrider said, how could they leave without being huge? They rock muuuuuch more than other "plastic" bands.
