the judges is unfair why??see the gown and walk of miss usa and miss philippines.see the different??i realy wondering why miss usa is the highest score in evning gown even in swimsuit.its ok in swimsuit it can be miss usa can be high.but this set of competition evning gown i think its bias.the favor of miss usa.while miss philippines is the most stunning in this competition.so sad what happen in this competition all judges is from united states 80 percent i think.

The powder blue serpentina gown worn by Ms. Chat Silayan is a creation of Mama Rene Salud. Too sad to note that delegates sent to international beauty contests don imported or even Colombian made gowns as well the Philippines national costume. The franchisee favor Colombian designers. Yes, i agree, stella araneta's intentions are questionable.

Seeing the very regal Rosario 'Chat' Silayan present her Filipino-designer pinoeering mermaid-inspired evening gown, really makes me very proud as a Filipino. Chat is really one of my most favouite Philippine delegate to Miss Universe. Am almost teay-eyed everytime I watch this clip. I have the complete DVD of this pageant.

I agree that Phillippines was spectacular. However, you, like the judges overscore Scotland, USA and Iceland while ignoring the luminosity and beauty of the women from Panama and Puerto Rico.

Tahiti looked great! Korea's presentation was sensational...why place her last?...behind several women who had no projection and practically seemed static.

i really love the presentation of the evening gown competition specially when koreans showed there dance culture it was so amazing i wonder what will hwang jini would say about this if she still alive he!he! but i like ms. !Como es posible, que a Puerto Rico esos jueces le hayan otorgado una puntuacion menor que a esas europeas que no tenian ninguna elegancia, ni glamour. Bob Barker spoiled Miss USA's interview in 81 MU as he spoiled Miss Puerto Rico's in 80 and he obviously helped Miss Chile a great deal in 87 MU. In 81 MU, Miss USA was fuming after the interview. Does anyone know the behind story?

Bob Barker was a jerk to Miss Puerto Rico he embarrased her during the semifinalist interview. Miss Puerto Rico had a beautiful dress but she was ahead of her times. The dress was bold and sexy for a 1980 pageant. But I think she got the low score becuase of that idiot of Bob Barker. I was very glad when he was replaced as Miss Universe host. He a great Master of ceremonomy and an american icon but If he didn't like the contestant he did show it.

This evening gown segment began beautifully with native Korean chant (love the way Miss Sweden and Miss Tahiti 'floated' their arms), but it deteriorated to a corny musical medley of Disney-esque songs. This was the germination of Little Sisters concept, I think.

The BEST gown,no doubt is PHILLIPPINES. She knew how to show off that gown,I heard she was trained to walk by "Filipino Drag Queens"

She just recently died at 46 of cancer,was married and left behind 2 children

HA HA HA! Actually, Rosario was trained by no other than Rene Salud - the same person who designed the gown she wore. Rene is the same person who trained and created a gown for Desiree Verdadero(MISS PHILIPPINES-UNIVERSE 1984)and Mimilanie Marquez (MISS INTERNATIONAL 1979).
