  • *parent style

  • Someone please enlighten with the old version of shotokan. Are there older styles of it that stay truer to its original form(s)? Just how much of it was changed for more of the competition-side of the art? Btw, i practice shorin ryu, the parent athle of shotokan so im interested to see how it was chznged so much from its original roots. Theres virtually no similiarities between the 2

  • Interesting. Im a traditional karateka myself and i do agree that every style has its advantages/disadavantages however im going to have to disagree about one thing (IMO): shotokan was not designed to be fast. How could you mobile with all those low deep stances? Im just being rational here. I know when the founder of shotokan first developed it it was actually alot different and he was disappointed later on about the changes made to it so who knows? Maybe it had a few more narrower higher stan

  • we can see the many replay on the vhs at 5:07 ^^

  • 5:06 WTF???

  • BUENAZOO!!

  • Long Live Iran <3

  • wow, the guy in the video laughing retardly sure ruins the performance

  • Oh...my...god...

  • Great coordination.... by the way all the martial arts deserves some respect...at the end.. all of them.. are arts..

  • By the way that was an espectacular display of ability and discipline. A lot of training in there.

  • I do Kyokushinkai, and I think it is so pointless to be discussing which style is the best, when they are not even close to be the same thing. Kyokushin aims at high power and resistance, combat above all, while Shotokan aims at perfection, beauty, fast, milimetrically precise and elegant movements. It's like comparing Football to Formula1 and argue about which is the best. They are both Martial Arts, NOT fighting styles. Karate is Karate. Ossu!

  • @kobuden What you're saying is great except that Shotokan is practical for self defense and its elegant and fast. Kyokushin is too. Still like what you said! :D

  • wonderful

  • Instead of discussing, why don´t you go on practising? Don´t waste time.

  • It boggles my mind how one can stay in sync on UNSU.. I mean the kata itself is hard enough (I have major dificulty with that jump) but come on 3 guys on time..WOW

  • tis is damn good they are totally syncronized but shotkan is cool love it:)

  • WOW, that was good.

  • these guys are perfect, totally syncronized

  • O__O

  • The Kata and Bunkai are awesome!!! But that's not a Kiai. That's a scream. But overall, It's still awesome

  • how is it not a kiai? a kiai doesnt have to sound like anything in particular, a kiai is as u know a shout to show ur putting effort in ur last attack to finish ur oponent and to me it sounded like he put a lot of efort in it

  • O,O "!!

  • great kata, great bunkai, ugly kiai...

  • This is very impressive. Everything...kata and bunkai!!!

  • Great job on this difficult kata. Interesting bunkai too.

  • kata looks nice, but the kiai sounds like barking... ^^

  • AEEEEEAAAH ... OOOOOHHH AEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAH

    ahaah amazing KIAI !!!!

  • cazzo che bravi

  • IRAN <3

  • im practice kyokushin since 14 years but i love shotokan kata

  • I love this kata and the way they do the bunkai!

  • perfect! amazing!! clap! clap!

  • I can describe this video using only one word:

    PERFECT!

  • Just AWSOME.

Unsu is my favourite and I am so impressed. Very good **clap**

  • if you are a true martial artist you study between the lines and look at where and how moves were/are developed. unfortunately, lots of people in all styles get locked up in in-house fighting and not the whole picture. if you look, there are throws/takedowns, nerve points and grapling even in kihon kata.

  • Youre trying to explain what is obvious to those of us who have trained in karate to fanboys who "play" karate on an XBox.

    It will not compute.

  • there is no kyokushin karate game so what r u talking about, i did kyokushin myself but i don't have time for it now.

and did you know the belt doesn't have much to do with fighting it only shows how skilled you are and sometimes people get the belt even if they can't fight like a man.

  • @apryorj How can there be nerve points and grappling in kihon kata? It only has gedan barai and oi tsuki chudan - Heian Shodan and Nidan however I can see there would be these things

  • oh, c'mon, what's this all about? "shotokan is the best - kyokushinkai is the best" why? ALL the styles are great, neither are better or worse the any other. The spirit of karate will be lost in this battle of words.

  • We should take something from all the arts to be as round as possible. Bruce Lee learned something from all styles of martial arts. It's the only way to grow as a Karateka. All the greats have done it.

  • Power ranger bunkai ...

  • awesome bunkai, respect man!!!

  • At the start the 1 on our left is a little behind but other than that it was really good shotokan karate is the best no dout about it

  • fuck shotokan, kyokushin is the best.

  • cooooool

  • nice performance in terms of speed and showing clear technique.however, they seem to be a little too hard :) that results in blocking the flow of ki (which should be projected out of the technique) in the body; their 'fah jing' (roughly, explosive power of whole body, can't really explain in a few words) is not clear. The hip movements being quick is good, but they seem to be trying to catch the speed instead of leading the energy.I think the arms and shoulders should be softer, mind also 2nd dan

  • what a bunch of pseudo-mystical babble

  • kyokushin karate is better to learn if you wan't to use your body as a weapon.

it's the hardest karate just do some research about mas oyama he did shotokan to but he made a more efficient style for fighting.

  • no karate style is better than the other, it fully depends on the karateka ^^

  • ya but kyokushin is the best.

  • So you do Kyokushin?

    2nd Dan?

  • Bunkai could have been made by any1, these crazy jumping movements are just for show, it can't be made in real fight

  • GOOD

  • osu !

  • Nice!!!

    Congratulations!!! Oss

  • Lovely, very creative. Nice zanshin.

  • the kata was good...the choreography was a little gay.

  • I am mesmerised !

  • you are a fucking gay!!!!!!

  • get lost gay

  • Everyone please excuse acerwk, he got beta up by a shotokan karate purplebelt, kids been crying ever since, thinks spamming helps the pain ahahhaha !! he also likes to suck dick ( homosexual)

  • It's so easy to talk behind a computer...

    Faggot

  • hahaha oh my god he will attack me with oi tsuki as all gay shotokan practiotioner do hahaha...what a shit

  • Ibídem Your coments just show that beside you're to pussy to say that in the face (writing doesn't count) of Someone that practices Shotokan style, you're a f*cking ignorant idiot.

  • If you want that answer i don't know why the heck are you seeing kata videos, watch for the kumite videos, they're the aplication of the techniques.

Btw, why in every kata video i see a comment of you saying that "it looks gay". Maybe someone that studied shotokan hitted you when kid, or maybe you loved him and he bumped you. You have a problem man, go visit a psychologist.

  • plz show me one video of shotokan (kumite videos as you said)that show drills against roundhouses punches/takedowns,low kicks etc.dont waste your time they dont exist.

  • Yeah dickweed.

Because the likelihood that you'll be attacked by a nunchaku-wielding roundhouse-throwing crack addict is really really high.

    Dumbass

  • nobody will attack you with oi-tsuki!shotokan is just a shit!

  • do you know how stupid you make yourself look??

  • stupid is everyone who waste time to train in this shit shotokan

  • why??

  • shotokan doesnt have drills against takedowns/roundhouse punches.low kicks etc.only what to do against oi-tsuki.nobody will attack you like that.what about if someone is grappler?you are finishes in a sec

  • Awesome!

Some people think that joint kata is like dance choreography. The one thing that you don't have to do in dance is keep that same level of focus and animosity which these guys have captured so well.

    Osu!

  • 5:08 what the fuck?!?

  • scissor take down ;)

  • After seeing the French team in 1994 doing Unsu in Paris Bercy, this is defenitely one of the best performances I've ever seen! My great respect!

  • how on earth did they get the jump to be the same height and timing

    amazing!!!!

  • This is Iranian national kata team coached by great friend of mine and member of our team in mid 80's Sensei Mohammad Ebrahim Naderbeigi

  • nice video

  • Actually i have seen better. Doesn't mean that these guya are bad xD they are outstanding. But i think Italys team makes it better.

  • espectacular, muy bueno

se nota la dedicacion que hay

    para entrenar

    bakan

  • mashallah,very good

Bellissimo Bunkai. Bravi e complimenti.

  • Hitotsu!jinaku kansei tsotumoro koto!

  • thats just so sick...

  • Very impressive and inspiring. Can you do the other 25 katas now please?

  • Iran is very good in karate ! :)

  • wuajuyyuuy

  • amazing

  • Awesome! Shotokan is great.

  • oss

  • no entiendo el bunkai,,,desastroso

  • wow

  • what country/team are they?

  • IRAN JUNIOR TEAM

  • wow !!!!!

  • these guys are good

  • wax on wax off!!!!become water my friend, water!!!!

  • bunkai is ok. excellent performed

    jkr.

  • Love the kata, great bunkai, excellent! I'd hate to be on the following team having to watch this!

  • These karate practitioners have demonstrated a terrific display of power, control, speed, coordination, balance and technique! The flying head scissors just topped off an already exciting performance!

  • To add to that. It is neigh impossible to control a move like that. The fact that it was so well controlled, let alone the discipline of the team kata, is a testament to this truely amazing performance

  • AMAZING!!!!!

  • Masterful!

  • perfect...i love it

  • Excellnt!!

  • wow gr8 team and kemae! wot a creative way of doing the bunkai, that is excellent!!

  • superb !

  • Something like this takes years of daily practice... More than most people can comprehend.

  • Wow, by far the best Unsu I've ever seen performed!

  • I thought the back of the Gi said IRS rofl

  • very good perfomance.i want to meet them for a challenge

  • Nothin less than perfect

  • Amazing performance I feel bunkai is extremely important and extremely well displayed here I only wish we practiced bunkai at our club.
